Just finished re-reading this for the first time since I read it in the 90's. I was never a fan of the "Callista" trilogy being a huge L/M shipper. It felt back then like they kept trying to shove these other women into my face when we wanted Mara and nobody else. I fogot so much about this. Hambly bless her really went all out with describing every little plant and scene almost to make up for the men who often could barely give you any visuals. But she really over does it. I did appreciate Leia having gained more Jedi skills in this story. Luke's arc on the ship was painful. Really, he's in so much pain and distress in this it's amazing he could move at all. Plus he's really drugged up on pain killers so I could almost forgive him hallucinating sex with a ghost. but to jump that to I love you and want you forever was like too much. I also noted quite a bit of upper class snobbery with several characters, Leia in particular looks down on Roganda because she was a concubine. A bit odd. The other thing that annoyed me was Luke running around with 2 lightsabers yet he barely uses them to get him to locations he needs or to protect himself at times. LIke why didn't he try to cut through things or ceilings to avoid the enclision grid? Or to disable it. Not happy with how everyone was like Well Cray wanted to die anyway attitude. She needed depression help not suicide help Callista! Luke. Now if Callista had blown up on the ship I'd have been okay. She did the good Jedi thing. Wasn't happy with Luke or others describing Mara as Cold. That's not her and they've known her long enough by then to pick up her background. boo. Well on to Darksaber,
