get to know me meme - [3/10] favorite musical artists mariah carey — “one person could say Hero is a schmaltzy piece of garbage, but another person can write me a letter and say, “I’ve considered committing suicide every day of my life for the last ten years until I heard that song and I realized after all I can be my own hero”. And that, that’s an unexplainable feeling, like I’ve done something with my life.”
Drag ha to filth!

Not when many fans have agreed that this is pretty much her best album since Emancipation and may be even better
@MariahCarey..Someone was disturbed by the lack of perfect grammar in my tweets. For the record, its a tweet, not a thesis, dear. Relax! I tweet on!
Mariah Carey's #1's | No. 1: Vision of Love (1990)
Vision of Love was released on May 15, 1990 and served as Carey’s debut single from her self-titled debut album. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 73 and eventually topped the chart during the week of August 4, 1990 and spent four consecutive weeks at #1. It was certified Gold by the RIAA for sales and shipments of over 500,000 in the US. It was nominated for three Grammy Awards in 1991: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal performance, winning the latter. It has been credited with popularizing the use of melisma in modern pop music and for inspiring several artists to pursue a career in music.

This set is legendary
"Emotions" became Carey’s fifth consecutive number 1 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, giving her the distinction of being the first and to date only act to have their first five singles make number 1 on the Hot 100. (She had previously shared a record of four with The Jackson 5.) It reached number 1 in its seventh week and spent three weeks at the top, from October 6 to October 26, 1991.
Today we’re celebrating 23 years of Emotions!
Critics dubbed the song her musical comeback, as many had considered her career over. They described it as Carey’s “return to form” and referred to it as the “return of The Voice.”
