like the thing is i don't really think it's a bad characterization move to write a struggling teacher who's put too much personal stake in the success of one particular student. you could even still have the really embarrassing part where she realizes she's said Way Too Much--just make it be about like, "wow i feel sooo bad for him can you believe how Sad and Tragic this is 😢 but i think if he succeeds it'll Fix Me (and prove im Good At My Job)"
