Thoughts on Boredom
We hate the feeling, don’t we? An empty feeling, theres nothing to see, nothing to do, but we waited all week for this very day.. a free weekend. Those days when you’re feeling bored, not an ounce of motivation or ambition to work on a hobby or do something fun. It’s hard to allow yourself not to be productive, just to rest and sit still. We got to fill it up... do something.. work on something, scroll something. Anything!!
Yet in your bored days wandering the house as a child, thats where you created games for yourself, built a new world with new characters in your imagination, and engaged with that world by pretending you’re in another reality.
In those days you think of random ideas and topics, figuring out a small a part of life’s problem/puzzle. Creativity as they say, springs forth at random hours of the day, it cannot be turned on or turned off.
These moments of rest, new ideas, being alone with your thoughts and sometimes gaining new perspectives, might just change how you want to carry out something on those productive days. We sometimes reflect on memories, remembering people and what they’ve done for you, reminiscing. It would make you feel grateful, or remember someone that inspired you, to desire to be way too. Boredom led me here, to blog out my thoughts. A bored moment made me realise I can try setting aside 10 minutes just to make a night routine for my teeth and face since I don’t floss, wash or moisturize my face. On the productive days I’m tired, impatient, I just want to get on my bed as fast as possible.
If I do carry out that 10 minutes of relaxing + take care of my face & teeth, it would actually have a huge impact on my EVERY DAY. Taken from another blog I read, this new idea that we do need to be bored, allow yourself to be free from distractions or being occupied. Allow that rest, and let new things/thoughts be explored and experimented. Boredom and exploration does seem to go together. 1 Feb 2022
