when the world has been violently unkind to you seeing kindness DOES leave a sour taste in your mouth because it’s like. well clearly there is love and warmth out there but for ages i was never allowed to see or experience it. so like of course any and all signs of that make you resentful and want to buck up. because not only does it not make sense to witness but it also makes you realize everything you have went through could have gone some other less painful way and someone could have stepped in and cared about you and helped you and stopped what was happening to you and saved you. and you ultimately did not deserve whatever happened. but it still happened. to you. which is unbearable to face. and process. anyway !
