There is an infinite number of different ways you can enter a pool, and the stairs is never one of them.
As men, we are to apply this way of thinking to all things in life. Go ahead, make a splash.
"Looking Ahead", Like Never Before!
Whether you are walking, teeing off, approaching a curve on the road, or a pretty lady at the bar, you are always looking ahead. I've recently come to learn from experience that looking ahead to the next step in your day can be a huge benefit to one's success and I am here to show you how and why!
We have been blessed with the great gifts of sight and imagination, and I would argue that not putting these two to use on daily basis is simply a waste of an incredible tool set.
Here is a Primer of what's to come!
Improve Your Memory: By knowing what you have planned out for the week in advance, you can test yourself to see if you can remember everything that you need to do on a daily basis. Keep track of everything in a planner of some sort (I like to use a combination of Google Calendar and Google Tasks), so that you can check yourself along the way to see if you got things right before looking back at it, and when in doubt, to make sure that you never miss a beat! At the end of each day, go back through your day and make sure that you don't go to bed until every last item is checked off. Before you know it, you will know what lies next in your day better than you ever thought you could, and you will see a change in your ability to memorize!
Improve Your Balance: Once you know how efficient you can and can't be, you can then learn to balance your day better. Add in some more gym time or time for drinks with friends if you happen to be extra efficient. You can extend the times of your tasks to meet your own level of efficiency if you feel you are being too hard on yourself. You can even set alarms and reminders to keep you goal orientated- just don't become dependent on these tools. The ultimate goal here is to have everything on your planner accomplished by Sunday Night, which is when you will evaluate your week and then create the following week's planner and list of tasks. Organize this however you want! Just make sure that you are balanced to meet your survival needs and to have everything on your list 100% accomplished by Sunday Night. It's OK if you don't get to everything on your first week, but by the second week, there are no excuses. I like to tell myself, "shut up and get it done."Soon enough, you will know how to keep a balance to your duties and responsibilities as well as your personal life.
The following post will cover the following topics:
Prioritizing and Planning:
Seeing It Twice, Sinking It once:
Committing:
Buckling In, Buckling Down:
Executing:
Self Reviewing and Evaluating:
Coming Back Harder Every Week:
Stay tuned and keep an "Eye Out" for the weeks to come.
Thanks for checking in!
"You can make more friends in a minute by taking an interest in others, than you can make in an hour trying to get others interested in you"- Dale Carnegie. A pretty simple and obvious principle, but one we often forget...
Shut Up And Put Your Work In.
It is understood that as men we naturally perform very well on things that are of our interest, and likewise not so well on the tasks that are less intriguing. The cycle which we must complete in order to get things done, and hence accomplish anything, seems to be rather simple (and like most things in life, we understand that this is the first sign we have letting us know that in fact it is actually not that simple). There is a diagram that holds very true to its own that I'd like to share with ya; you know, man to man. It is commonly referred to as "The Do Something Cycle," under the "Do Something Principle" outlined in Post Masculine's Article on "Doing Something". See below.
Inspiration -> Motivation -> Action -> Inspiration -> Motivation ->Action ->Etc.
Essentially it works itself out to be a never ending cycle of inspiration, motivation, and manly action.
So what good does it do to have this knowledge? Well gentlemen, maybe this PodCast will provide you with some initiative to kicks start that drive with some serious Inspiration to get you Motivated and out into the world to accomplish more with some serious Action.
My apologies in advance for the terribly awkward secondary narration on my behalf.
Cheers!
