and it was like that before LJ too like my first interaction with fandom was I found a star wars fan website in 1997 and wondered what ‘rpg’ was so I joined the only open subsection and was like ‘Hi. I’m 13. Can I play?’ and until that point the college students had been the babies so everyone is like ’……how…..did a child get in here….?’ but they all just went with it and let me play gently corrected me constantly because I was both a child and literally didn’t know what I was asking to join. The only other kids were friends I brought in later. There were 3 of us. Everyone else was at least 21. Most had jobs and houses and kids my age.

fandom is for everyone. always has been.
