October 2017, Arizona
What a magical place Sedona is. The energy there is refreshing. Makes you stop for a minute and just take in the insane surroundings. Eventually will do a Sedona travel guide of some sort, this is a little place holder until I have the time.

Quick trip to Chicago. Symphony Hall with Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
Jon Batiste x Andra Day for Cartier on Governor’s Island
The two performed “Empire State of Mind” in a glass ballroom built specifically for the event. To the left was a clear view of the Statue of Liberty, to the right was the glowing lights of downtown NYC.
I’ve neglected this blog again, so I’m going to be posting some photos from the past five months. Mostly so I can keep track of time.. The fact that it’s basically March baffles me. Here some snaps from Westlight - The best view of Manhattan from Brooklyn. Drinks are pricey but it’s worth when you can take in a sunset like this. I know it well, that warm day in September. Everyone is back to the grind but the weather tricks you into feeling like its June.
September 2017
Jon Batiste x Bonobos. We took a piano to the streets of NYC. This was a fun shoot.
As a kid we used to go to Montauk every summer, salty from the ocean and splinters in our feet from the old motel on the beach. It was a simple time, we were there for the ocean and company of each other. Montauk has changed over the years, now fully developed into a “scene” where New York City dwellers visit every weekend in the summer. The old motels are now beach clubs, the classic breakfast spots are now fancy bars. My parents wanted to find a new place to go that hadn't been touched by the fads. LBI was the spot. We rode bikes everywhere, frequented the local dive bars and spent the days in the sand. It was the perfect escape from reality.

Summer 2017 - You were very good to me.
I always forget to update this thing. Not even sure who reads this, but I love to have a place to look back on my travels.
Back in June we went to Aspen for Jazz Aspen Snowmass Festival and Aspen Ideas Festival. One of the most beautiful towns I’ve seen. The air is crisp, the colors are vibrant and the mountains are everywhere you look.

In the studio with The Atlantic
Jon recorded the theme song to The Atlantic’s new podcast, Radio Atlantic. A reimagined “Battle Hymn” - Watch the behind the scenes here.
Bone Marrow Foundation Gala - May 2017
Beautiful event. Today, two of my close friends are cured of Leukemia, both because of successful bone marrow transplants. Support the cause here.
The past few weeks I’ve been traveling with work, it’s been enjoyable to see new sights and revisit the old.
Jon Batiste spoke at Salve Regina’s commencement - I officially graduated college two years ago and I feel old.
