“#writingtips It's not about having the right inspiration, the right time and place, or even the right ideas. It's purely about momentum.”
Yes, I think so.
On Sunday, May 8, 2016 I ran my first full marathon race (26.2 miles/42.2 KM). It has taken me some time to process this event. It didn’t seem real at the time but with some distance (sorry) it s…
3000+ words where I describe the experience of running my first marathon. I just had to write it all down somewhere.
63: Productivity Guru Thanks to my pal Mark for suggesting this one. He and I are both devoted bullet journalers and admirers of a guy called Merlin Mann, who invented the hipster PDA and “Inbox...
I like this!
The Tragically Hip are Gord Downie, Paul Langlois, Rob Baker, Gord Sinclair & Johnny Fay.
Damn it. Gord Downie has terminal brain cancer. I saw the Hip play in Fredericton in 1990 during the Road Apples tour. They were a great live band then, but they became so much more later on. One last tour apparently.
60: Anglophile
I’ll confess, I have been something of an Anglophile myself ever since discovering Monty Python and Fawlty Towers reruns when I was a kid, as well as the dry wit of Douglas Adams. Unlike Mac, I’ve never really embraced The Archers - a stupefyingly dull daily radio soap opera - but I suppose I did watch Coronation Street for a bit. Mostly I love the comedy (Matt Berry and his gang of friends especially these days), the TV dramas and homegrown films, the comics writers and artists, and sure, Radiohead. I had the pleasure of finally visiting the UK last summer for the first time and I loved it; we spent time in Leeds and then London. Hopefully we can get back for more soon.
And hopefully you’ll be back on Monday for more of The Insult! *point-wink*
Say no more!

Do you ever feel like your brain is tied in knots? Do your thoughts resemble a massive ball of string, wound messily and tightly together? Are you unsure of what to do next?
something I wrote years ago
The following is a transcript of the Hearst New Media lecture I gave last night at Columbia University, subtitled "Two Paths For The Future of Text." Thanks to everyone who came out, and to the Journalism school for the invitation....
Thought I’d never find this again!
More for the productivity nerd in me. Also test post from my phone.

@jonnysun - o hey, aslo on Tmblr!
Bought this in Boston years ago - disliked the pages inside. Recently made my own replacement pages - going to try it as a bullet journal.

Stanley Kubrick on the purpose of life and the universe's role in that very thing
This is the Journey of the Sorcerer, by the Eagles. A song known by many for its use as the theme to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. For me it will always have this association, and I love the video that goes with this, spinning around stellar phenomenon and through the wonders of the universe.
Yes, I’ve posted this before, and I will again, but there are few songs that make me feel so warm as this.
I love this song

“Clark Kent is the only character able to handle all the power of Superman. Can you think of anyone else as gentle or kindhearted or humble?”
INDEED!
