Five Facts About Me?
1. I have an older brother, with whom I was named after
Yes! I actually do have an older brother-- his name is Mark Anthony. He is around 5 years older than me. My name, Mark Angelo, is derived from my older brother, since my parents wanted to have children with the same first initials.
Of course, with the both of us being named Mark, one would prompt, “Will the real “Mark Santos” please stand up?” Truth of the matter is-- we’re both Mark Santos in our own ways. To my friends, I am Mark-- to my brother’s friends, he is Mark. But for our family, I am referred to as “Angel”, while he is referred to as “Kuya Mark”.
I guess my brother is the real Mark Santos? 🤔
2. I joined the Voice Kids & Tawag ng Tanghalan
Welp, time to let the cat out of the bag. Yes, I have joined the Voice Kids & Tawag ng Tanghalan before during the prime of my singing career in Junior High School.
I joined the first season of the Voice Kids back in 7th Grade (2014), where I was fortunate enough to get through the blind auditions and get selected by Coach Sarah to be in her team. It was a very fun & amazing experience, meeting a lot of talented kids my age, including super idol Darren Espanto & the grand champion herself, Lyca Gairanod. Unfortunately, I lost during the battle stages, but that’s alright, I learned a lot from that experience. 💟
Around two years later, I joined Tawag ng Tanghalan at TV Noontime Show “It’s Showtime”. There, my voice has significantly matured compared to my performance in The Voice Kids-- my voice has grown deeper & my music choice have branched out more. I was able to win daily winner against the contestants from Visayas & Mindanao, however, I was unable to beat the Defending Weekly Winner. That was alright though-- just being able to sing & show my passion to the world is more than enough prize for me.
Although sure, this is a fact that I am proud of-- it’s something I never flex or say out in the blue, since I don’t want to appear bigheaded & bragging about stuff like this. It was a pleasure showing my talent & passion for the world to see. Music & performance is my passion, and if it brings smile to people’s faces-- I’d love to sing forever & ever.
3. I have allergic rhinitis.
To be honest, sharing this fact doesn’t really bother me-- as if you’ve met me, there’s probably a chance that you’ve seen me sneeze & sneeze uncontrollably-- which is why, it’s not such a secret that I have allergic rhinitis.
Allergic rhinitis is an autoimmune disease that causes the nose to be inflamed when introduced to allergens like dust or pollen. In my case, I’m not really sure which allergens really trigger my rhinitis-- honestly, my sneezing episodes just happen randomly at times. Which is why-- if ever you see me sneeze uncontrollably, please don’t assume that I have COVID-19.
Oh, and please offer me a tissue-- and I will treat you as my best friend forever.
4. I have a pet Poodle named “Caramel” or “Tutoy” (whichever you’d like to call him)
Yes! I have a pet dog-- his name is Caramel. He is a Toy Poodle, meaning he’s much smaller than the other poodles that you may see in the wild. His name comes from the fact that his fur is a beautiful shade of brown-- Caramel-like.
He’s around 5-6 years old now, but he’s still active & plays around! He knows a few tricks like getting inside his dog house when commanded, he knows how to jump, stand up & hug hoomans’ legs, and he knows when to get inside our house for cover whenever it rains. Needless to say, he’s a very good & very smart boy. Perhaps you can teach an old dog new tricks 🤔
Though his name is Caramel-- we call him Tutoy, since he’s a boy, and it’s a pretty fun nickname! He responds to both names, so call him however you wish! Other nicknames would be woyoyoy, goodboi, dobby (when he’s bald), kulot (when he’s fluffy). He’s a good boi, he doesn’t bite. (Unless you trespass our house, in which case-- prepare a can of dog food as your casket)
5. My favorite drink (as of the moment) is Cobra Green.
What is my source of fuel? Well...
As a college student, I’d like to be the most productive that I can-- and seeing as how I have a lot of responsibilities under my belt, I’ve always got to keep pushing & stay awake during long hours of study, work, & play. Which is why my favorite drink as of the moment is Cobra Green (no, this is not a paid sponsorship-- though, if you’re reading this Cobra, hit me up 😉).
Other people’s main source of Caffeine, especially my contemporaries is coffee-- and although it’s a good drink too, I just feel like it’s way inferior than my favorite sugary energy drink, since it causes me to have a bad stomach, it makes my mouth stink, and it just doesn’t provide enough energy as Cobra does for me.
Why the green flavor though? Well, technically, it’s called “Citrus Blast”, and that’s exactly how it tastes like-- it’s like drinking Calamansi/Dalandan juice, but with the added benefits of staying awake! The red one (Berry Blast) is good too though not my favorite, and please don’t talk to me about the Original flavor.
It’s ₱15 for one bottle, and goshdarn, is it worth it!
