Marlene McKinnon was born in America, to an American witch named Katherine Dodson and a British No-Maj, David McKinnon. The two ran into each other at a protest that was being held on campus where they both were studying. Though they an odd couple from the get go, they never let the differences in their worlds or countries weaken the flame between them. The three of them were a fairly happy family, the ideal picture of the American dream. But when Marley was about to turn ten, her grandparents on her fatherās side, both passed away leaving David their house and causing the McKinnons to lift their roots and plant them in London. Though it took awhile for the girls to get used to, eventually Marlene and her mother settled into England quite happily. Katherine was able to transfer her position as Auror for MACUSA, to the Ministry there in London, and Marley of course was sent an owl from Hogwarts. Sure it wasnāt Ilvermorney, but Marlene loved it just the same. She was the spitfire of Gryffindor, known for her fiery sass. But once her mother was killed during her forth year by a death eater, the already wild girl became even more impulsive; so much so it was just down right self destructive. Anyone who dared insinuate favor of Voldemort or his workings Marley would attack with hexes, even curses, the strongest and worst she could manage. And if it wasnāt for her roommates, Marlene would have been expelled. The girls managed to talk her down out of her vengeful rage and helped her to once more see reason. Though Marlene managed to cope with her motherās death in more healthy ways, her father David continued his toxic grief. Magic had taken away his beloved wife, and for that, he hated magic with every fiber of his being. And in turn, hated his daughter for refusing to turn her back on the wizarding world. The man became violent, striking Marley for any and all reasons. Marls would dread holidays and even the end of her time at Hogwarts, realizing she will be forced back into the same home as her father. Life after Hogwarts hasnāt been the kindest to poor Marlene. The once bright pupil tossed academics to the side once her mother was killed, only keeping her grades up enough to remain on the quidditch team. Now, with few options due to her turbulent school years, Marlene has taken a job at the Leaky Cauldron. But it isnāt all bad, she gets a free room which keeps her distant from her father
