Good Doms All the best Doms I’ve been with have had several things in common. 1. They speak with me, not at me. (When not in a Dom/sub session.) 2. They listen to me. (Even during sessions.) 3. They respect me even in submission. First and foremost they spoke with me and not at me. They listened to what I said and demonstrated that they had listened and remembered those things while we were having our kinky fun. They were only ON and Dom during kink sessions. During sessions it’s “boy” or “slave” or whatever name He wants to call me. After kinky time is done we go by our names like everyday people. They all respected me and any boundaries I set even during play. Every Dom I’ve ever talked to or played with has sought to push those limits or expand my horizons or any number of similar terms. But they would stop short of breaking those limits during play. Even if I didn’t use the correct safe word and just said “that hurt.” Every Dom’s first duty is to the safety of His sub. Subs have to trust that their Dom will not let anything bad happen to them. That includes any physical and/or psychological damage to the sub. I’ve had Doms introduce or surprise me with things I liked and didn’t like. All the good ones recognized the things I didn’t and moved on to things we both liked. They still tried new things with me later but they always always always dropped it if it didn’t go over well. Asking first is always best.
