Which Glee character would have an actual breakdown over the Trolley Problem?

So this took me a bit to get to! ♥ Thanks for the ask, and what a conundrum! 

I do believe Marley Rose would have a massive breakdown over the trolley problem because everyone else would be arguing “five lives versus one,” and she’d still be stuck ten minutes ago on “Why are they tied to the tracks!?” or “Can we untie them?”

“You can’t untie them, Marley, that’s not part of the hypothetical.” “Why not???” “There’s no time.” “Can I yell at them to move?” “They can’t move.” “Can I stop the trolley?” “No.” “Can I get on the trolley and—” Then someone is shouting, “MARLEY. Pull it or don’t!”

And she has a full sobbing moment, because her heart is paralyzed by what to do! 😭 

Meanwhile, Santana pulls the lever. “Five is more than one. Are we done?”

All the while, Tina already made her choice and becomes increasingly upset/agitated because everyone in the room keeps interrogating HER about why she chose it. “I said I’d pull the lever! What more do you want from me?”

For one week every year, whenever Mercedes talks, each day a different colour of the rainbow manifests around her

i’m so torn on the whole “letting people who can’t sing in” debate bc on the one hand. it is a skills based club. that makes sense to me. but on the other. it was treated as a while big thing that mike can’t really sing (lowkey he just wasn’t trained and gets better but still) but everyone’s fine with that bc he can dance. they have band members join a few times and they may be able to sing but are mainly treated as warm bodies, or jbi who i think is established as nit being able to sing? he doesn’t end up going with them but still. the plan was for him to get up on stage and not sing

so i don’t know why it’s SUCH a stretch to just. let sugar in, based on what schue’s done in the past. ig bc he’s coming down extra hard on winning this year? but even so.

idk. offering to work with her private for voice lessons is the only sensible thing he does in this plot

Which Glee character nearly never regrets their snap decisions?

ooh…. i’m not sure i’d say 100% never (from what i remember he does seem to regret at least the way it came out when he told blaine he didn’t want to get married), but i think kurt is probably who i’d put my money on here? he has strongly-held convictions about everything and while i don’t think he’s an inherently impulsive person (he’s more of a routines and plans guy, i think? by and large), that also means when he DOES do something impulsive it’s bc he inherently sees it as worth it.

ig i could see an argument against this, but i’m not sure i would define those moments as outright regret. he doesn’t take back or apologize for what he said to mr. schue about being uptight (and good for him lmao) when he gets sent to figgins — he just looks pissed. he KNOWS his last minute nyada audition change was amazing. the fact that it didn’t get him a spot (imo) doesn’t change that in his mind, it’s just unfortunate and probably down to extracurriculars and bureaucratic bs. and he doesn’t regret getting a tattoo itself later on - he’s just freaked out about the mistake.

but his actions themselves he tends to stick by. i think he’s very used to feeling like the world expects him to be apologetic for like, existing, and one way he combats that is by being very sure of not just who he is but what he does. even if he might not do the same thing again, he’s not gonna regret or apologize for what felt right in the moment.

I didn't like the whole "Tina has a crush on Blaine" storyline because I find RM's fixation on girls mooning after gay boys to be awkward and tiresome, BUT I can't help but feel indulgent for Tina's momentary insanity. Even counting the super intrusive VapoRub incident. My high school bestie one time slept over and I realized when she showered she'd used my body mitt. I was horrified and repulsed and threw it away immediately, but high school kids with terrible boundaries and messy emotional landscapes do these things! And in real life ofc what Tina did wouldn't fly but it's Glee, everything's exaggerated for entertainment. The subsequent rape jokes about it were kinda the worst part tbh

This sort of goes along with that post about how there are a LOT of unexamined consent issues in Glee and it’s weird to just hold one character to that standard, and yeah, I also really hate how many instances I’ve seen of people acting like what Tina did was one of the most unforgivable things on the show. Like was it cool? No! But there are SO many instances of characters crossing boundaries and yet this is the only one people consistently (even if jokingly) refer to as a form of ‘rape’? And while it wasn’t cool, it also clearly wasn’t gonna go further, whereas *waves at Puck and Quinn*, so… yikes!

And the fact people can’t unpack what is clearly a misogynistic framing of her character by writing her as ‘desperate’ for romantic attention to the degree she’s fixated on her gay friend after giving her almost fucking nothing story-wise prior to that? Endlessly frustrating

but considering how things turn out with sam and mercedes, i really do wish we’d at least gotten to see more build up/the time spent in their first relationship

all this said: pretending is by far my favorite original song of series lol. and while the kiss IS unprofessional (#so true blaine)… it’s also unfortunately very sweet to me. i am not immune to the allure of human drama, etc

i am #not convinced kissgate at nationals was the only reason they lost. i know the show frames it that way and i’m sure it did not help matters any, but they spent the week prior planning a funeral and had their focus split, finn seems to have written the song once again very last minute, and schue has repeatedly shown he does not really prepare enough/do enough research for these competitions (still not over him saying the warblers don’t MOVE lmao).

like, i’m sure the kiss was the final nail in the coffin. but i am Not convinced it was the only thing working against them lol.
