As a fellow Marling junky, I gotta ask, what do you think the rope represents when she says "wrestling the rope from darkness is no fucking life that I would choose"??? It's something I've been trying to figure out since I first heard the song I don't know how long ago

To me it means that she doesn’t want to commit herself to a relationship / a man. She doesn’t want to be tied down, no matter what. Any other interpretation?

Not much of an ask, but I just found out this tumblr (I'm not into digging tumblr world) and I just have to say that this is AMAZING. Laura Marling fans are so incredible! Thanks for putting this stuff together. Also, I know it's not a post stuff, but I tabbed and posted my first song on ultimate guitar, and it's a Marling song - maybe you or whoever is out there is also a wicked guitar player? It's Strange! It's on the site.

Actually, I changed my mind, I do have an ask! I'm from Brazil, and I'm going to London on august to study on the London Film School, I'll stay about 4 weeks, and I think it would be super cool to get to know other Marling fans (here only 3 people I know know and like her, and it's mostly because of my talking to them). In anticipation of “Short Movie” and to celebrate International Women’s Month, I would like to do a contest.

The theme: (the meaning of) Womanhood in the music of Laura Marling

The rules: 1. Contest opens to anyone who lives in planet Earth 2. Artwork must be new and has never been published anywhere 3. Artwork can be in any form: photographs, sketches, painting, graphic design, writing, drawing, collage, poetry, fiction, etc. 4. Artwork must be original. Plagiarized work will be rejected. 5. Deadline: 30 March 2015 6. Artwork must be submitted through http://marlingism.tumblr.com/submit 7. By submitting you agree that your artwork will be posted on http://marlingism.tumblr.com 8. Artwork must be in high quality resolution — broken pixels or blurry photo quality will be rejected. 9. Each artwork must be accompanied by a title and the artist’s name and tumblr link. 10.
