PHYSICAL MODEL ASSIGNMENT EXPLANATION
The Physical model for the final presentation would have been a representative model of my outpost is an air purification chamber within a research center, comprised of an ETFE (Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) material, for it is highly malleable, resistant to corrosion and high heat, thus it is perfectly accommodated to the determent of the post-volcanic surroundings. The center is comprised of 2 chambers of which soil particles are received from the ground below and are sent through a series of tubes within the chambers and the soil content is separated through manganese plates, of which only the organic material is used to form completely pure air particles. The intentions of the center is not only to protect the researcher from the highly acidic outdoor environment and relieve the respiratory system of the remaining survivors from the could cover of ash which had formed after volcanic eruption. I had planned to 3D print 1 chamber and the spherical components of the structure, to demonstrate how the exterior would be and then hand modeled the network of tubes by which the air is purified, leaving it exposed, for it would have been too complex to model in rhino and print. For the final digital manual, I will have a section detail of the purification process of the chamber.
