Task 8: Outpost Drawings
In this task, we were asked to begin designing an outpost in our landscape that would be used by a field agent to conduct research. The outpost had to be integrated with the environment and also had a relationship with the ruins created previously and is constructed of two pieces; structure and capsule. While designing, we had to think of the outpost as being more of a “parasitic” form of architecture.
For my first iteration, I wanted the outpost to use the ruin as a support system or structure by either resting on top or hanging off. By using the column, I created a spiral staircase that could be used to reach the top. However, since there are way too many stairs, I think I would have to implement a different way of reaching the top or alter my story line or both. Due to timing, I modeled by capsule with a simple rectangle but in my drawings, I chose to make it with a slanted roof in order to add solar panels later on.
After receiving a critique on my first iteration, I added some of the feedback into the drawings such as fixing my line weights and and callouts. However, I will be adding the rest of feedback in a following iteration and also working on my narrative of my landscape and how it connects with my group members.
