Have to do a playbill for my theatre project and I decided to draw everyone as a sonic character so here's some of that!

Sonamy High school AU!

The headcanons (plus a few extras):

Sonic:

First to step in when someone is getting bullied or harassed

Carries Amy’s Textbooks

Stayed in school to encourage Tails’ education

Doesn’t bring a bag to school, writes everything in one notebook

Don’t wear his uniform correctly + rolls his sleeves instead of switching to the summer shirt

Not the smartest student but smarter than many assume

Falls asleep during lectures

Doesn’t sit properly

Popular with students and teachers because he’s so charismatic

Athletic but doesn’t join any sports because he won’t show up to practice (despite the pleas from the team + teachers)

Works odd jobs on his off days

Amy:

Adds cute accessories to her uniform and bag

Raises her hand in class when no one else will

Average student in academics

Cute stationary and doodles in between notes

Makes many unlikely friends easily

Student council member

Runs for class president each year (she wins thanks to her cheerful attitude but she ends up pushing a lot of the paper work onto the vice president)

Sometimes gets in trouble for day dreaming in class

Lives off inheritance from her parents’ will

Homemade lunch 90% of the time

Both:

Are easily bored

Originally met in elementary school before moving apart

Didn’t recognize each other right away (Sonic first, Amy second)

WIP Preview for a sonamy comic I’m working on!

I think Amy humanizes Sonic the most out of everyone in the cast

With just her presence it throws him completely off his game and he’s stuttering and frantic and it’s like he forgets he’s capable of destroying Gods

Often I see Sonic as Freedom with the power to back it up and Amy as Freedom without the power to fully express/ achieve her goals. But in the context of Love, Amy has more ‘Freedom’ which is why she’s able to overwhelm Sonic consistently and it’s why she’s able to wear it all on her sleeve when he doesn’t.

I also think they do this weird thing where they correctly equalize each other while still underplaying their own role in the other’s life.

I think a lot of this stuff is below the surface (especially for Sonic), Sonic and Amy aren’t super deep thinkers, they’re naturally aware of things and are both strong willed self motivated people.

I don’t think they’re fully aware of the hows and the whys and the greater realistic implications of their lives intertwining nor are they particularly interested in that stuff.

I think this stage of their relationship annoys/ frustrates some fans but I really love this era of unspoken understanding and loud uncertainty cut with rare scenes that perfectly encapsulates what their relationship really is.

This comic I’m working on kinda tries to bring some of these uncertain unspoken feelings into the light without putting too many words in these character’s mouths.

It’s what I’ll be focusing on until it’s done so please look forward to it! :D
