New work from an ongoing series exploring textiles as both surface and coverage. This piece revisits quilting — one of the earliest foundations of Ruben’s textile practice — now expanded through the sculptural language and structural forms that define his work.
The custom patterned fabric, featuring a motif inspired by Philip Guston, was originally designed during the artist’s textile and surface design studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. Guston’s visual language has influenced generations of artists, and this work stands as an homage to the titan’s enduring legacy.
