Marta Woodhull’s debut album FACE is an unabashed, no bullshit rock and roll album. From beginning to end FACE takes the listener on an eloquent and melodic journey, exploring the lineage of rock and roll from the lush harmonies of the Britpop to the vivid guitars of alternative psychedelia, with a hint of expressive folk rock undertones.

FACE is hard hitting, with nine solid tracks chiefly written by songwriters Marta Woodhull and Ben Bohm, featuring the album’s producer—multi-instrumentalist and composer John Philip Shenale as a co-writer.

Recorded live on 24-track analog tape and mastered at Capitol Mastering in Hollywood, FACE features a stellar list of professional studio musicians backing both the vocally versatile Woodhull, and the exceptional lead guitarist Bohm: producer John Philip Shenale (Tori Amos, Jane’s Addiction, Willy DeVille), guitarist Chris Spedding (Paul McCartney, Roxy Music, Brian Eno), bassist Will McGregor (The Pretenders, Tori Amos), percussionist Eric McKain (Gladys Knight, Jon B.), and drummer Steve Stephens (Robby Krieger, Cheryl Lynn).

FACE is a strong conceptual rock and roll song cycle encompassing a story of bravery and empowerment in the face of personal darkness.

I just got a phone call from France, from the extraordinary recording artist, Prince Diabate, who will be coming to my studio at the end of the month. This is a photo of he and I in 2001 when I was tracking BG vocals for his album, "New Life". I also received my Cora that day. The second pix is performing with Prince and his band for the album launch. Let's see what we come up with this time! So exciting!
