DISCUSSION ON FORMATION IS NOW UP IN THE CLUB, GO AND JOIN THE CONVERSATION!
BeyoncĂ© âFormationâ
For anyone who hasnât seen it
Beyonceâs âBlack Pantherâ Super Bowl show SLAMMED by former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani who says singer 'used it as a platform to attack police officersâ
Beyonce is being criticized by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani for her Super Bowl halftime performance 'I thought that she used it as a platform to attack police officers, who are the people who protect her and protect us and keep us alive,â said Giuliani Members of the National Sheriffsâ Association who watched the game turned off the TV when Beyonce appeared on the halftime show and voiced their outrage that the NFL would allow an anti-police song to be performed Beyonceâs backing dancers appeared dressed as Black Panthers activists with all-black outfits and signature black berets Several dancers also appeared in an image holding a piece of paper reading 'justice 4 Martin Woods, a black man shot dead by around a dozen police in San Francisco after refusing to drop a knife The Black Panthers were an armed group involved in the black power movement of the Sixties and Seventies
I LIVE.
Yâalla bunch of âfree speechâ hypocrites, thatâs what.
Anyway, nowâs the perfect time to bring up the current statistics for how racist and incredibly out of touch whites are:
Apart from the upper class, only two groups tend to be seen as 'takersâ rather than 'giversâ: black Americans and Hispanic Americans. 45% of the country views black Americans as 'takersâ, while only 20% see them as 'giversâ. 35% say that Hispanics are takers and 31% say that they are givers.
50% of white Americans say that blacks take more than they give, while 16% say that they give more to society than they take. 44% of Hispanics say that black Americans take more, while 45% of black Americans say that they give more than they take.
Respondents were asked to identify which class they consider themselves. 45% of white Americans identify as working class while 52% identify as middle class. There is very little difference between working class whites (49%) and middle class whites (51%) in how likely they are to view black Americans as 'takersâ.
Ideology, however, has a significant impact. Liberal whites tend to say that blacks give more than they take, with 41% of white liberals, something working class white liberals also agree with. Most white moderates (53%) and white conservatives (69%) say that black Americans take more than they give.
White Americans (38%) are much less likely than either black Americans (83%) or Hispanics (62%) to say that their racial identity is important to them. There is very little difference between working class (38%) and middle class (40%) whites on this issue, though conservative whites (44%) are slightly more likely than liberal whites (37%) to say that their race is important to them.
Most white Americans (62%) say that your class has a bigger impact on your life in America than your race (19%), something black Americans definitely do not agree with. 67% of black Americans say that race is more important than class, something only 23% disagree with. Hispanics are split 41% to 41%.
My only issue with the poll is I would have liked to see a further break down of âhispanicâ- which ones are white latinos, non-Black latinos, and Black latinos? I want to know how informed this antiblackness is.
Anyway, back to slayin:
From the article Iâm not linking because theyâre trash:
Beyonce walked on to the field with the performers in a straight line before they formed an 'Xâ, thought to refer to Malcolm X
Wouldnât it be cool if it were that deep doe (who knows, with Formation era Bey, it just might be).
Stay carefree.
Stay stuntin on em
With some closing thoughts (related via analysis of whiteness, but unrelated to being directly about this whiteâs comments about Beyonce and Black Pride VS police brutality what Iâm posting) by thetrudz (gradientlair) on twitter:
Black girls still the future
THE TEA IS HOT!
That "Negro Mixed with Creole" line pissed me off.... "Creole" people ARE Negro People... She stay trying to exotify herself as if she ain't a full fleged Black Woman... It's problematic as fuck.
I thought she was referring to her roots. You mix her daddy roots with her mama roots and you get BeyâŠbut go off I guess
I mean I thought It was clear but yall wanna Be Mad about somethingâ so
Nah it comes off as negro and creole being separate races when they arenât mutually exclusive a lot of times.
like why would she imply that her mom side i black creole like yall areâŠ
Because her momâs side is black too???
You dont get my point but whateva
You clearly donât get mine. How are you âmixedâ with another side of blackness? You canât be âmixedâ with âblack and black.â
Yea I really donât think this is that big of a deal. I am mixed Jamaican and American (US) black. They are definitely distinct cultures, even if they are not entirely separate. She didnât say she was mixed race. She said her mother and father who are from distinct cultural and ethnic backgrounds âmixedâ to make her, which is true.
It isnât problematic for a black woman to claim and celebrate the distinct portions of her collective identity.
If youâve ever heard a Black person with even a GREAT grandmother from Louisiana say Iâm not Black Iâm Creole then you know exactly what the fuck Iâm talking aboutâŠ. If not then pick up a cultural anthropology bookâŠ.
^ above comment yassss!!! like thereâs some light skint fuckery in the video but again - maybe itâs cause Iâm light skint and hella about checking my privileges and calling out perpetuation of colorism but fuckkkkkkkk what do u do when ur dragging light skint fuckery and darker skint black women tell u to shut up like idkidkidk
BLACK GIRLS WITH BIG NOSES STAND UP
BITCH WE GOT A SONG IT AINT TIME TO SLEEP WAKE THE FUCK UP OUR NOSE IS IN A BEYONCĂ SONG BITCH WE TURNT UP IN HERE NEXT TIME SOMEBODY SAY YOU GOT A BIG NOSE SAY IT COMES WITH JACKSON 5 NOSTRILS AND BEYONCĂâS HOMAGE BITCH WHEN WILL YOURS EVER FOH BIG NOSES ON DECK AND WE SLAYING A MOTHERFUCKING CHORUS ON A BEYONCĂ SINGLE THESE HATER ASS BITCHES AINT WORTHY
Damn right, damn right! Scream it from the mountaintops!
Nose contouring is going out the fucking window. lmao
AS IT FUCKING SHOULD BE
but real talk tho i think i might stop contouring my nose iâm not even jokingÂ
Please do. You donât need a narrow nose. Thatâs a Eurocentric beauty standard. We surpass those standards just by waking up Black in the morning.
TURN THE FUCK UP
it would be really cool to make #nocontour a thing and do selfies of us with no nose contour that would be heavenly
I donât contour my nose at allÂ
NEGRO NOSE GANG
Here fore it!!!!
BeyoncĂ© had to claim love for her MANâS Black, wide nose for y'all to appreciate your own?
How patheticâŠ.
Girl what?
I said that shit is patheticâŠ..
She loves HER NIGGAS nose⊠A nose she donât even haveâŠ
Hell she is the epitome of European beauty standards for Black women so like.. I donât see why it took this for y'all to celebrate Black nosesâŠ. again. Pathetic.
Who tf cares how long it took. Why are you so bothered tho?? đ I donât have a ânegro noseâ either but Iâm still gonna reblog this post in support because who am I to tell ppl who are insecure with their features how to go about feeling good about themselves.
Who is Beyoncé to tell people how to go about feeling good about themselves?
Oh rightâŠ. She y'all Queen or whatever the fuckâŠ. Like I saidâŠpatheticâŠ
Itâs no different than waiting on validation from white people before something Black becomes acceptableâŠ. Like⊠BeyoncĂ© said big noses are in now sow every black girl can love herself⊠Like eww⊠That shit is sadâŠ
I think that in the past few weeks is becomes very real to me that most folks donât hold space for me and that was very triggering for me in so many ways and then now Iâm just seeing the response to all this bey bullshit and I just feel like folks really just donât have the capacity to hold space for Black folks. Period. Not unless thereâs respectability involved. And niggas simply will not care for you if you are calling out someone who is more respectable than you. just processing that and understanding how folks treat me in my personal relationships vs how folks are socialized to treat me really goes hand in hand
Beyoncé Is NOT For You and Here's why....
Truthfully⊠Iâm not here for none of the bullshit⊠That whole video is problematic and Iâm just like ewww to the whole shitâŠ.
Centering her light skinned self in a sea of dark skinned black girlsâŠ
Centering her light skinned daughter between two dark skinned Black girlsâŠ. (which now you NIGGAS are claiming are her own personal Michelle and Kelly)⊠as if theyâre not human individuals with agencyâŠ.Iâm sure I donât have to say how problematic that shit isâŠ
Just CENTERING herself in a struggle shes NEVER experienced⊠Being hated for being phenotypically Black⊠Like sheâs never had a wide nose and we havenât seen her natural hair since she was in Girls TimeâŠ
The fact that her DAUGHTER has been attacked is the ONLY reason besides profiting from Black pain that she had to speak on the hate of Black featuresâŠ.
Like the shit is so disgusting⊠She hasnât ever dealt with hatred of Black features on a personal level because sheâs always been the light skinned skinny chickâŠ
The epitome of European beauty standards for Black women⊠So her claiming to love her MANâS negro nose and her BABIES natural hair donât mean shit to meâŠ
If that shit makes you love yourself then more power to you, but that shit makes you look WEAK to meâŠ.
And police brutality? C'mon bruh⊠Like NEVER. She was raised in the suburbs with rich parentsâŠ. likeâŠ. this struggle has never been hersâŠ
Then to top it off she exploits Hurricain Katrina and uses a DEAD Messy Mya to self indulge in how sheâs âback by popular demandâ..??? Like where is HIS ESTATE CHECK????
But y'all donât want me to point this shit out because âitâs BeyoncĂ©ââŠ.
Fuck that.. ALL ART IS UP FOR CRITIQUE⊠And I will say my piece.
So hell nawww⊠This video and song wasnât for Black girls⊠Hell especially when shes claimingâŠ(Iâm Black but not Black like y'all Negros cause my Mama Creole)⊠Like fuck outta hereâŠ
It was for her, her man and her child and all them damn coins sheâs gonna collect from you sad negros who canât love yourselves until BeyoncĂ© says soâŠ.
Okay girl, hold tf up with that..
1) Maybe sheâs âcenteredâ because itâs.. her music video. Like, itâs not that tough to figure out.. Itâs a music video.. sheâs going to be the focus.. And to see it as her centering herself in a sea of dark skinned girls instead of her showing solidarity with the black girls who usually get the least shine in everything, putting them as the main figures in her music video, that read is on you.
What did you want her to do? Magically become dark skinned? Use only light skinned dancers? She put dark skinned girls as front and foremost as possible in this video.
2) Yes sheâs never personally experienced a lot of the things in the video. So the fuck what. Iâve never personally been beaten by the police. I guess I should go delete all my posts about police brutality? Sheâs a black woman, sheâs part of our community, sheâs putting a spotlight on the issues of our shared community.
If anything, her going out of her way to focus on the struggles of other black people speaks to her character. Thatâs black solidarity. She could have just made a Taylor Swift album and collected her millions, but she didnât. But you stay pressed I guess.
3) Who tf are you to say that the only reason she cares about black features is her daughter? Check your ego.
4) Yes she fits into the Eurocentric beauty standards for black women. So.. sheâs not able to see how darker women of her race are treated? Sheâs not able to see colorism and have an opinion on it? Sheâs not able to have empathy for people of her own race? Why, exactly?
5) You can argue that she has âexploitedâ Katrina. But in my opinion, sheâs put a spotlight back on an issue that is STILL going on but that people in the area canât even get their own politicians to address or acknowledge.Â
On top of that sheâs quietly given $7 million over the years to the Knowles-Temenos Place Apartments in her hometown of Houston, in response to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. But again, stay pressed.
6) Yes she used a clip of Messy Mya who was tragically murdered in 2010. Again, for you to see this as exploitation instead of an honoring and a remembrance (To put the clip at the start of the new video of her lead single of her first album in 3 years, the title single of her tour) speaks of your character.Â
And Iâm 1000000% sure his estate was compensated. Why are you assuming otherwise? Do you even know how video copyright works?
And the other voice in the video, Big Freedia said âIt was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and I was beyond honored to work with the original Queen B"
7) Why are you assuming sheâs saying sheâs not black by acknowledging her Creole heritage. Itâs a distinct ethnic group within the African diaspora. Whatâs wrong with her talking about her roots, exactly? How can you claim sheâs trying to distance herself from blackness when she made literally the blackest music video in years.
Honestly, I find it amazing how you can turn a video that celebrates blackness of all shades, of all classes, of all ages, past and present, thatâs an affirmation of our heritage, our cultures, our lives, and STILL find shit to talk about it.Â
Itâs incredible, really.
And how you gunna call beyonce out for not having natural hair when you got that brazilian wavy sewed on top of your scalp??
My mansâŠ.
I know sheâs not serious.
Na, canât be.
He read her her rights
đtried it.
NIGGA LMFAO
lmfaooooo when u just mad cause she light skinned đ
I donât think itâs cool to clown black women for their critiques on music videos. Like??? Why is it okay to post her picture and make fun of her because she critiques a Beyonce video? Both of the commentaries, opâs and the response to the post, are both purely opinion. The only difference is that since the 2nd on is in support of Bey, itâs taken as the gospel of truth đ
The interesting thing about the Beyhive (which is different from being a Bey fan) is that theyâre like white people in a way: it doesnât matter if theyâre right or wrong because there are simply so damn many of them that youâll always be wrong, no mater what. I keep seeing âYAAASâ and âHE READ HERâ and whatnot, but I have yet to come across anything of the sort. Throw in the hair shaming, and youâll that Beyonceâs whole âblack prideâ formation apparently missed a wholllle lot of her fans. Why rag on somebody elseâs looks in the midst of all this black purchase power? Go be proud, shit!Â
These people are actually patting themselves on the back for running down a woman for her hair just because that woman had the nerve to criticize Beysus. They see this as an actual good thing. Theyâll pile and pile and pile AND PILE and all you can do is wait it out and hope they get bored. They also tend to misuse words like slay, read, and scalp. I see an opinion, a response to that opinion, and about 20,000 YAAAAASSSSSSes to the opinion the Beyhive likes. That does not make a read, folks.Â
@black-rising thatâs because its easier to mimic your oppressors behavior than it is to examine your faveâŠ. And this shit ainât rocket science.. Like all you have to do is look at the lyrics separate from the videoâŠ. and youâll see I made all valid points.. But majority rules so whateverâŠ. Im honestly over all of this ⊠@datnookiethang I appreciate you and others who refuse to omit logic for blind loyaltyâŠ.
Yo but can I throw in this article tho? http://www.colorlines.com/articles/jackson-five-nostrils-creole-vs-negro-and-beefing-over-beyonc%C3%A9s-formation
Cause errrrrybody who got dragged for bringing up colorism and exotification  needs to read ths sh it and their life! I love it when the academics come in and pretty much relay what a noggq said immediately after ingesting the suits but Fock it folks love respectable black folks and will dispose of you if you canât be respectable(read: light skint praising) enough. I will add that this article does epitomize that all of our responses are valid!!!!! Like blackness is not one deme signal and we will always have our own experiences that permit us to be biased in some way or other.Â
THE SHADE
New Orleans ainât listed on Beys tour date list.Â
Bey said y'all better carry your ass to Houston or Dallas!Â
BeyoncĂ© could end world hunger and some of yall would be eating off a plate she hand served you and go âokay, but I donât get the hype. she really ainât all that great.â
dude.
like what if this light skinned famous person provided folks with basic needs like food and shit, folks still wouldnât appreciate her as the Grande High Creole Supreme. DO YALL HEAR YOURSELVES?!
