Why T'Choro Tribe works so hard to ship and let ship (and why people pretend that we don't)
I wonder if T'Choro is the only fandom where people will ask - if not flat out demand - that we be nice to the people/readers who are so nasty and hateful to us. Meanwhile, it's T'Choro who takes great steps to minimize the fray and, defend the right of other ships to exist in peace and put our own in check when need be.
Guess what every single one of those people were banned for? That's right, racism and misogynoir. That makes claims like this one complete bullshit, not to mention an insult to our bordering-on-nervous-breakdown mod team. (Mind you, @wolverinecore knew she was lying when she said this, but that's just how RoLo moves.)
Everyone knows the split between Black Panther fans and T'Choro fans was so public and loud - in fact, it's primarily how T'Choro fans became so split, largely breaking off into two factions. Many T'Choro fans still respect/like/love Wolverine and Storm's friendship. Between the ashies and the RoLo rejects, we get a metric fuckton of hate from all sides. You just don't see most of it because we're actually dedicated to getting rid of it, rather than using it for traffic and fan interaction.
Let the record show that I have fiercely and repeatedly defended the Storm #3 tryst, as degrading to Storm as it was.
In the typical spirit of RoLo antiBlackness, nothing that is said or done by Black or Black-adjacent members matters just like nothing Black writers, editors or characters matters to the RoLo community (Storm included). You see, verifiable and public actions like the ones shown don't fit the Stormverine narrative. You all know the drill: the RoLo community is just a loveable group of Storm fans being picked on by ignorant, uneducated, unemployed niggers bullies who want to see them run off social media.** Gets old.
Yet it's T'Choro who is supposed to bend the knee for the sake of "good fandom manners". Seriously, if I get one more request/demand/suggestion like this one, my head is going to explode (especially since I'm not remotely close to the biggest T'Choro hangout on the 'net).

**The opposite is true, actually - the evolution of RoLo to Stormverine is the best thing to ever happen to T'Choro. In fact, I would argue that they have played a large part in our popularity among Marvel readers.

The stained glass X-Men series continues! I was really excited (and a touch nervous) about doing Storm's piece. I knew I wanted to include her lightening powers and I wasn't sure how I wanted to depict them. Additionally I was worried layering the storm clouds, wind, rain and lightening would be too busy. I think the end result works though! I love how flowy her outfit is in mid flight and her hair was such a dream. Ororo's hair always looks incredible though. I'm certain I'll draw her again.

Every time the stench of cheap cigars and unwashed nutsack suddenly fills my timeline, something wonderful has happened in T'Choro Land. And yep. Once again, the beauty, class and elegance of the Stormpanther Supremacy keeps shining.
Here, T'Challa pledges to protect Ororo even after death, fully acknowledging that she doesn't need him to - he's just that kind of motherfucker. Once again, T'Challa freely acknowledges that Storm is his superior. But tell us more about how Storm was "diminished" to make Black Panther look powerful. Yuh-huh.
Oh, and the Marvel Rivals neo_jpeg contest? Guess which art is the runaway favorite - and once again, it's not even close.
It baffles me when people are shocked to see how much love T'Choro gets, but that lies at the root of anti-Stormpanther racism: the belief that two Black people in love can't possibly be popular or loved is as unthinkable as the idea of a Black man loving and respecting a Black woman. It has to be bots...it has to be trolls...it has to be just a handful of unemployed, ignorant niggers readers who just pair people based on what they look like. And so on. It's not.
It's just...not.
The truth is that MOST Storm fans want to see Storm with a person who loves her and treats her well, regardless of race or gender. They also want to see Storm with someone who doesn't make her lower her standards of how to be treated. Most of us want to see Storm uplifted and exalted, not dragged down and discarded. And while there are certainly other people out there who could do this for Ororo*, the one who is the most compatible and the most marketable is the one that is already the most popular by far.

I've written about how T'Choro vs. RoLo is just like Jordan vs. LeBron, and with the annoucement of LeBron's free agency, this confession couldn't be more timely. Especially since I recently came out of a teeth-grinding vis-a-vis with a hardcore RoLo fan (if I said the name, you'd know it). If I ever agree to such a thing again, hold my head underwater until I stop struggling, okay? It would do less damage to my brain.
As much as LeBron James hate keeps me warm at night, the man is an incredible basketball player. Only a fool would disagree. And before LeBron became the overrated clown he is today, there was a time when LeBron was universally loved. It was and still is perfectly okay for LeBron be your GOAT while acknowledging that he is not the GOAT. That title belongs to Michael Jordan.
This same attitude went for RoLo. Despite what our OTP is/was , most of us - myself included - were perfectly fine with the idea of Storm being with Wolverine sfter the AvX annulment. I honestly believe that had Aaron written Storm as Logan's committed girlfriend and not some booty call to pump and dump, I'd still be the president and CEO of the RoLo Fan Club right alongside @clawsandthunder.* Instead, the pairing bombed, T'Choro reunited until the Ridley run, and Marvel pretended that RoLo never happened until Ayodele made the tragic mistake of writing a one-night stand that ultimately cost him his Storm solo run. #ToughBreakNiggaTheresAlwaysFUBU
Just as LeBron started overreaching and trying to prove that he was better than Michael Jordan after his 3rd Finals win (he'd win a 4th bullshit title during COVID w/the Lakers) , RoLo began to do the same thing out of nowhere. For whatever reason, as the years went by, they couldn't handle being one of the top Storm ships - they wanted to be the top ship. I won't get into how RoLo (a pairing that I helped to build from the ground up nearly a quarter-century ago) became the toxic shit heap that is it is today.
However, I will point out that just as Jordan is proven to be better the longer LeBron plays, T'Choro is proven to be the better pairing for Ororo as time goes by. Just as more and more younguns are bending the knee to Jordan once they see the proof with their own eyes, more and more people are seeing that they were lied to for years - about T'Challa, about the royal marriage, about the "romantic" history of Wolverine and Storm...about everything. It was calculated and it was intense, and it worked for years. But not anymore. And never again.
Warrior queen, goddess, beloved wife and respected public figure versus headmaster and booty call...the only people who prefer the latter grew up without positive male representation in their lives. Hell, STORM HERSELF has made it crystal clear when and with whom she was happiest. Compare how Storm described these two very separate times in her life.
Now, I cannot stress this enough, and do not misunderstand me. I am not trying to say that my ship is "right". I'm not trying convert anyone from RoLo or to T'Choro. RoLo is a perfectly valid pairing - it's just not a valid ship.
Again, look to Jordan vs. LeBron. Jordan is the better player by literally any metric measured in the history of basketball. Yet LeBron stans swear up and down that nothing MJ did mattered. They have excuses for everything. They run "Jorbum" down as if he was a nobody playing nobodys. Saying that LeBron is one of the best - or even in your top two - is sacriliege. LeBron must be number one, even though he is just...not, and there's nothing wrong with that.
The very same thing goes for RoLo, who has spent years trying to erase and rewrite Black Panther and Storm's entire romantic history. RoLo insists that Storm really loves Wolverine despite her never having suggested this. They swear that Storm never really loved T'Challa even though openly said she loves him more than any other man, married the motherfucker and gave her life so that he could live (an arrangement T'Challa promptly rejected). These so-called Storm fans - who couldn't tell you the origin of Hadari Yao if you asked them - pretend to believe that Wolverine really loves Storm, despite not even claiming her after a year when she was the only woman on the planet.
Meanwhile, here's the fallout out of that degrading field fuck that RoLo celebrates to this day even though Murewa Ayodele has repeatedly stated was a low point in Storm's life - as she tends to be when she's having sex with Wolverine.
In my opinion, RoLo morphed into Stormverine and became unrecognizable when it lost its way and forgot what once made the fandom so open, loving and fun. The Storm/Wolverine pairing has always been about what could be between Storm and Wolverine. Because when it comes to what is? When it comes to canon? When it comes to what makes cold, hard cash? When it comes to what the fans want to see in their books, video games and on their movie screens?
25 years later - and remember, I was there from the very beginning - here is the cold, hard truth:
RoLo does not and will never have the numbers.
RoLo does not and will never have the history.
RoLo does not and will never have the chemistry.
RoLo does not and will never have the respect of the streets.
RoLo does not and will never have the ear of the media.
RoLo does not and will never have the sales.
And just like LeBron entering his 24th year in the NBA, RoLo is simply out of time.
Self-hating Black Millenials and the gays who love simply aren't enough to make this ship successful outside of social media, and the old tactics of just making up shit aren't going to work anymore. But just like it's okay for LeBron to be your GOAT as long as you understand that he is not the GOAT, it's perfectly okay to love and support RoLo as long as you accept and respect that you'll never reach the level of T'Choro - the wedding, the merchandise, the omnibuses, hell, even the divorce demonstrates more love between Ororo and T'Challa than Logan and Ororo have ever had.
Personally, I'm happy the RoLo community got Italian Storm on Wolverine's shoulders while T'Choro was enjoying actual intimacy with T'Challa and Ororo in the Ultimate Finale. And as I've said before, I am absolutely, 100% Stormverine when it comes to movieverse. See? We can co-exist just fine. Sane shippers always can.
Which brings me waaaaaay back to the beginning and that time with the RoLoer that I could have spent picking huffing aerosol paint or something less damaging to my brain cells. Now that Ayodele has put a stop to those "T'Choro bullied him out of Stormverine" rumors, RoLo is suddenly on their Rodney King steez. "Oh, why can't we all just co-exist? We don't have to tear each other down! Something something ship and let ship!" The problem is that when Stormverine says "Let's all co-exist because we are all Storm fans"**, they really mean "Stop digging in our asses when we spread misinformation and racist tropes".
One word: no.
Seriously. NO. Stop asking. That's not going to happen, so crying about being "bullied" or "harassed". Correcting incorrect information is not bullying. Bringing receipts to the table is not bullying. As long as RoLo continues to insist on spreading misinformation, T'Choro must insist on correcting it. And as long as you keep doing dumb shit like trying to make Storm or her children white, you're going to get mocked for it. So...y'know...don't do that and we should all be just fine. How is that hard to get? Just stop fucking doing it and we would have nothing to talk about. Think about it.

They were able to secure r/stormverine, which is fine - we were never using it anyway and just took the name to be petty. But apparently they are not able to delete the stickied post, because all the other posts and comments are gone...except the stickied one. I don't know if it's because it's a sticky made by the original owner or what. But unless they can get that post down, the sub they worked so hard to steal is worthless, just like bank money with ink packet powder all over it. As much as we all hated the T'Choro story in the Ultimate universe - unlike other ships, T'Choro wants Storm to be the first and only choice at all times - it's very telling that Marvel came back to T'Choro for the Ultimate finale. They just fit together in any universe at any time.
It could work if anybody cared enough to make it work (and we cared enough to read it). They're threatening to bring the Ultimate universe back...it'll be interesting (not really) to see what happens with these two.
