You make lists in your head about what you want in a lover, like brown hair and a sweet voice. A sharp mind and a soft heart, a sense of humor that actually makes you laugh like you mean it. This and that. And itâs all bullshit. Because people arenât lists. And Iâve always wanted to be the person who made someone realize that. I want to come across someone with a list in their head that is nothing like the person I am, and I want to show them what they didnât even know they were looking for. People who think they know what they want are fooling themselves. Nobody really knows what they want. Not until itâs right in front of them.

Shoutout to the survivors of hidden, unconventional, or non-blatant abuse.
To those whose abusers constantly threatened but rarely acted on their words.
To those whose abusers would treat them well at times.
To those whose abusers would tell them the abuse was âfor the bestâ, âout of loveâ, or âin your best interestâ.
To those whose abusers told them the abuse was just a âjokeâ, or âprankâ or âgameâ.
To those whose abusers would stop talking to them as a form of punishment.
To those whose abusers would still feed and shelter them, yet completely emotionally neglect them.
To those whose abusers gaslighted them into believing the abuse never happened.
To those whose abusers used uncommon techniques or methods to hurt them.
To those whose abuse was swept under the rug because it was âunbelievableâ or âimpossibleâ.
To those who do not have proof of the abuse they endured.
Have you always believed the abuse was actually normal parenting? Me too. Do you feel like youâre making it up, or exaggerating stuff? Me too.
Guess what? Those are lies. Your abuse is valid. Your pain is valid. You are not fake. You are not alone.
I must get my soul back from you; I am killing my flesh without it.

8 Signs Youâre a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)
Susan Cainâs book Quiet was a catalyst for the introvert movement that helped bring awareness towards personality types with a greater need for solitude and less stimulating environments. With one third to half of the worldâs population made up of introverts, itâs great that we finally began to acknowledge and talk about their unique set of traits and tendencies. Along with introversion, sensitivity has also made the headlines and been widely discussed. The personality trait was first researched by Dr. Elaine N. Aron in 1991. All of her important findings have been published in various articles and in her book The Highly Sensitive Person.
Although itâs a trait being acknowledged more, Aron states that sensitive people are still often considered the âminorityâ of the population. She emphasizes that culture plays a large role towards how sensitivity is valued. Aron writes, âIn cultures where it is not valued, HSPs tend to have low self esteem. They are told âdonât be so sensitiveâ so that they feel abnormal.ââŚ
1. You feel deeply and tend to be more emotionally reactive.
Have people often called you âdeepâ when you provide your insights? Then, you may be an HSP.

I think I might be a HSP
For years mental health professionals taught people that they could be psychologically healthy without social support, that âunless you love yourself, no one else will love youâ âŚThe truth is, you cannot love yourself unless you have been loved and are loved. The capacity to love cannot be built in isolation.
