hey, martimmers. so, i know a lot of us have been busy or going through creative blocks or what have you, and i understand that many of us didn't get to post on martim week (me included). over on the discord (which people are welcome to join!), we're discussing hosting a re-do sometime in may. that, or making a martim may for anyone to create anything they'd like. we will always take works for the week after said week, but we understand wanting to participate. how does that sound? reply or leave messages in our inbox if you'd like.
Tim sighed as he set aside the cursed tape recorder, finishing his…statement? Final speech? Whatever the hell this was. Who was going to listen to it besides whatever evil forces listened to these tapes? What was the point?
Whatever. He wouldn’t have to deal with this place or Jon much longer anyway, if his plan worked. No more pain, no more nightmares, no more creepy boss, no more-
“Tim?”
He whipped his head at the source of the noise, which turned out to be a startled looking Martin.
Shit.
As cruel as that thought was, Tim had hoped that he could leave without saying goodbye to Martin. His friend, the one person he still trusted…his crush. Tim had been-still was-in love with Martin. They had met on their first day here, gone on follow ups together, laughed….suffered through hallways. Done…things in said hallways. And Tim had opened up about Danny to him.
And despite it all, Martin was in love with Jon. Fucking Jon. Tim wouldn’t force it, but he had hoped that one day, Martin would have saw him and they would have been…happy? Surviving? Who knows. He took a deep breath and turned to face Martin.
“Hey, Marto. You alright?”
Martin shuffled his feet, but looked Tim in the eye. “Not really. Nervous. About the plan, about Melanie and Jon and you. Are…Are you okay? With your brother and all.”
“Yeah. Yeah, I’m okay.” Tim lied. Not very well, by the looks of Martin’s expression. “I…I’ll get along with Jon and the others, alright? We’re here to kill clowns, not each other.” He sighed at Martin’s skeptical expression. “I’m serious.”
“I know, I know.” Martin sighed. “I just worry. And I want you to come back.”
Tim’s heart hurt. “You do?” He asked in a quiet voice.
“Of course I do!” Martin blurted out. “You matter to me, Tim. You matter to people. You’re my friend! I don’t want to lose you. So promise me. Promise me that you’ll come back.”
Tim couldn’t make that promise. Deep down, he wanted to. But he just couldn’t. He didn’t find any reason to live. Martin was saying…something, but Tim was too lost in his thoughts to make out the words. Probably going over the plan again or telling Tim how much of a piece of shit he was for being mean to their asshole boss.
Before he could ask Martin to start over, to ask what he meant-Martin’s lips were on his. Tim’s eyes fluttered shut, reaching up to cup his cheeks. Is this really happening? Now? Why now?
They kissed for what felt like years. Time had stopped. For a moment, everything was good. Like it had been before losing Sasha. Losing Danny. Coming here. If only….if only they had met anywhere but here. Led different lives. Things could have been different. Should have been different.
After a far too short time, they broke apart for air. Tim’s hand still lingered on Martin’s cheek, so much on his mind but not wanting to say a word. The silence laid heavily on them both. Then, Martin spoke up.
“I had to know.” He whispered. “I’ll see you when you come back.”
But Tim knew that he wasn’t coming back. That he and Martin could never be together. That he was doing this for Martin, and hopefully Martin lose Jon alongside him.
But he couldn’t bring himself to tell Martin that. Martin would never forgive him, and he wanted his last memory of Martin to be this kiss, not a fight.
“Yeah….I’ll see you.”
At that, Tim picked up his backpack and left without looking back.
No fears Au because there’s cosmic hope, not horror.
It had started with some flowers.
To be more specific, some drawings. Tim had woken up to find that his right arm was covered in drawings of forget me nots and roses and lavender. After the initial shock, Tim’s face broke into a grin when he realized that it must be from his soulmate.
Grabbing a nearby pen, Tim wrote a quick message: Good morning!
The response appeared later that morning, while he was sipping his coffee:
Good morning! I guess we’re soulmates, since you saw my doodles.
I did! You’re talented. But I have a lot of questions.
Like?
Your name, if you’re in London too, what do you like. That sort of thing. I’m Timothy, but most people call me Tim. I grew up in Northampton, but now I live in London.
Well, my name is Martin, I also live in London and I enjoy drawing, tea, poetry (but not Keats) and a good sweater. I doodle when I get nervous and I am starting a new job tomorrow, so I’m very nervous.
Tim felt a pang of sympathy. He’d done a job change not long ago himself and it had been stressful. Hopefully, Martin would be okay. He wrote Well, it’s the weekend and I don’t have much going on. Would you want to doodle on me to help you feel better? And I’ll share some of my doodles. But I’m not much of a drawer.
C’mon, how bad can you be?

Timothy was a terrible artist. Martin couldn’t help but laugh at the-what was it supposed to be?
Tim had said that it was a dog, but it looked more like a sausage roll! Still, it charmed Martin. He wrote: Well, I think it’s a lovely sausage roll dog.
He wondered if Tim laughed. What his laugh sounded like. He bet it was a nice laugh. He kept writing, learning more about Tim. Tim had a brother named Danny and a tank full of fish and loved to kayak and hike and rock climb when Martin was a homebody with his tea and poetry and knitting. And his heavy metal albums. But they’d figure it out. They were soulmates. But when would they meet? It was perhaps too soon, but Martin wanted to meet right away. He had always hoped for a soulmate despite never fully believing in them. His parents were soulmates, and look how that turned out. Still, he had hope. Taking a breath, he wrote a note.

Tim stared at the message written on his arm. Wow, Martin must be really excited to meet him. But why? Tim was noting special. Sure, he knew he was attractive. And funny and smart. But they really wanted to meet him now? He couldn’t have made that good of a first impression. But he was interested in meeting Martin. After some pondering, he wrote: So soon? Sure, there’s a coffee shop on the way to my offices. Want to meet there tomorrow? He added some poorly drawn hearts to empathize. Then he waited for a response. It was immediate.
Yes!!!!!
He took a breath and went to text his best friend Sasha the news.

The next morning, Martin was walking to the coffee shop, trying not to sweat under his sweater. He had spent nearly two hours with Jon and Gerry picking out the right outfit to meet his soulmate in. Hopefully the sweater and slacks were good enough. They were good enough to come to his new job in, at least. Christ, he was so nervous about meeting Tim, he forgot to be nervous about his new job! It was a rough day for his nerves. Taking a breath, Martin stepped into the coffee shop.
The place was busy, with morning commuters getting teas, coffees and breakfast. As Martin stood in line for a coffee (he never ordered tea out), he scanned the cafe. The tables were mostly empty, save for an elderly couple and a man who must be Tim.
Oh, Christ.
Tim was handsome. Broad shoulders, kind eyes and well done hair. He was wearing a button down shirts, slacks and a colorful tie. He was at a table near the back, sipping a cappuccino. A part of Martin wanted to bolt. There was no way this beautiful man would want him. But the only way to know was to try. Once he got his tea, he took a deep breath, and walked to the table.

Tim felt a little like a creep. He’d been staring at people for the past few minutes, trying to see which one was Martin. He had Martin’s description. Maybe he just went to the wrong cafe? He was about to write a note when he saw-oh.
Martin was handsome. Soft and strong body, bright eyes, beautiful curls….Tim felt butterflies. And he was coming here. Tim hoped he looked okay.
“Hi.” He waved, feeling shy.

Martin smiled at Tim’s friendly expression. Maybe this would go well. He gave a wave, sitting down.
“Hi. Hope you weren’t waiting long?”
“Not at all.” Tim assured.
They quickly descended into a pleasant chat about the cafe, tea vs coffee, (Martin-tea, Tim-coffee, but was curious about Martin’s tea) their lives in London. As they went on, Martin liked Tim more and more. He was funny and sweet and his smile made his heart race. Christ, he wished he could talk to Tim forever. But he had to get to work, and by the way he was glancing at his watch, so did Tim. Hastily, Martin grabbed some paper and pen from his bag and scribbled his phone number. “So you have something other than my arm.” He explained with a blush. Tim accepted the paper with another heart racing smile. “Thank you, it’ll be nice to not get weird looks from my coworkers. Text you tonight?”
Martin nodded at that as they set off.

It took Tim two blocks before he realized that Martin was going the same way as him. Did they work nearby? Stopping, he turned to face Martin.
“Martin, what office are you starting at?”
When Martin gave the name of his office, Tim laughed in disbelief. “We’re coworkers, Marto!”
Martin stared at Tim for a moment before breaking out into a laugh that was music to Tim’s ears. “I suppose we are. Would you able to give me the grand tour?”

hi martimmers!!! dropping by to say that we have all of our prompts ready to be launched! i have yet to make a fun little graphic for them, but that should be done by tomorrow, and then it'll all be posted!
hi martimmers! i wanted to just make another post trying to gauge people's interest and spread the word :) martim week is looking like it'll take place in april- but we'll accept works all year! i'm reaching out to potential mods to put together a proper info post for this year, but while that's happening, anyone can look through the blog and see what we're about!
we also have a discord where, while not always on the topic of martim, we do have more specific planning and events, and a whole community to discuss martim anytime you want! we don't bite :) and i will also be asking for more opinions there, so if you want a direct line to the planners of this week, feel free to join us!

heyyy guys... guess who forgot about their blog..... ehehe...
the exchange never ended up going anywhere and i got super swamped in school/life stuff and just. forgot about this blog LMAO
but! rest assured! we are very busy over in the martim nation discord (even when our conversations aren't strictly martim) and i fully plan on hosting martim week 2026! the interest form should go out in the next couple months so i can start planning and give everyone enough time to create!
