After Dark - Haruki Murakami
This is a fanart cover I made for this book. One of my favorite books, and the first I ever read by Murakami.
“You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You’ve just crossed over into... the Twilight Zone.”
Rod Serling
I haven’t been using tumblr much lately, and instagram seems neglected. But I enjoyed doing this lovely #drawthisinyourstyle challenge by the lovely @anabidault
“Undone”
I was wondering how much have I progressed in the past year, so I decided to make an exercise. Take a drawing, and do it all over again.
I chose one of the favorites from my instagram feed. Favorite meaning, it had over 40 likes and that’s quite a lot for me still. When I started drawing it I wasn’t really sure where I was going. I hated that puzzle head and the missing eye made no sense at all. So I just did what I did... And I can say I’m happy with the result. I think it looks exceptionally better than my drawing from a year back.
Joan of Arc is one of my favorite historical characters. She was brave, she followed her mind and heart, she fought for what she thought was right, for her faith, love and country. A true symbol of strenth!
“I am not afraid, I was born to do this” Joan of Arc
May the force be with you, always.
May the force be with you
Dolores O'Riordan. "Cast a cold Eye On Life, on Death. Horseman, pass by." These are the words on W.B. Yeats grave. Maybe some of you know why I chose his words. Even if you don't you'll try and appreciate the beauty and sorrow deep within them. I grew up listening to Dolores' voice, and through my teenage years I went to sleep to her songs. I really felt I needed to express my love for such an amazing artist that has left us much too soon. Somewhere... she's having a drink with Yeats, Blake, and all poets and fragile souls of this harsh world of ours.
May the force be with you, always.
In loving memory of our beloved Princess.
“In every generation there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer”.
Buffy was probably the first tv series I ever watched that wasn’t cartoons. I watched it over and over again. My first love, my daydream place to go for adventures... it was a big thing. She was brilliant, strong, fearless. A true role model for girls. A true strong female character, like so few we get to see portrayed in tv and movies this day.
Work in Progress
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was my first love at the tender age of seven. I still love her.
“One day in every century Death takes on mortal flesh, better to comprehend what the lives she takes must feel like, to taste the bitter tang of mortality. And this is the price she must pay for being the divider of the living from all that has gone before, all that must come after.”
Neil Gaiman
Death is my favorite character of all time. And probably… If given the chance today of meeting her for real, I might take it. A coffee with her and then be gone to an eternal dream like state. Well, maybe I’ll just take my life time and let’s see where it goes after that.
After yesterday’s doodle I decided to scan it and paint it quickly with my @wacom mobile studio pro. I love this tablet so much. A quick 20 minute paint job and it looks a lot better than on my moleskine. I’ll upload a speedpaint video later. Cheers.
