To learn by heart is to learn By hurt—grief inscribing Its wisdom in the soft tissue. Song you sing, poem you are— Finger moving, precise As a phonograph needle, Along the groove of scar.
Gregory Orr, from “To learn by heart is to learn,” How Beautiful the Beloved (Copper Canyon Press, 2009)

keep those doors open and the mirrors cracked, you may ache so much, though love will grow back.

markus really did deviate connor through hug therapy wow
hey, full offense intended, but if you disrespect sex workers and think their voices, their comfort, and their lives don’t matter, hard block me right now. we’re more than slurs and plot devices. we’re real people who deserve to be heard. so keep that in mind when you disrespect us and then tell us that it’s just fiction.
cyberlife androids were designed to work harmoniously with humans. both my appearance and my voice were designed to facilitate my integration. r.

Got this idea from this post ~ ;D
There is no task as urgent for us as to learn daily how to die, but our knowledge of death is not increased by the renunciation of life; only the ripe fruit of the here and now that has been seized and bitten into will spread its indescribable taste in us.
Rainer Maria Rilke, from “On Loss, Dying, and Death,” The Poet’s Guide to Life: The Wisdom of Rilke, ed. and trans. Ulrich Baer (Modern Library, 2005) (via memoryslandscape)
fishsaves:
A CHUCKLE OF HIS OWN escapes him as the pillow bounces off , but he makes another mental note of how incredibly endearing it was to know that he’d made markus laugh ( okay , giggle ) at the same god - awful puns most people cringed at .
he gives a lazy stretch that’s reminiscent of a spoiled housecat . ❝ — no . just until you fall asleep . ❞ it’s that part of the night where he’s cozy & warm & there’s , for once , little to NO filter over his thoughts . it’s refreshing in its own way ; there’s something about markus that brings out that side of him .
❝ if you dream in color – ❞ now his voice has dropped to a whisper . ❝ — is it a pigment of your imagination ? ❞
——— *・ WHAT AN HONOUR IT WAS to be entrusted with connor's affections & trust. his sleigh bell-esque chirps & kittenish curiousity. & the ideological bliss of his physical essence , his lovely hyacinthean companion, only mere inches away from open arms , rekindles a growing fondness in markus. it was perhaps moreso the odd circumstances that the artist & the underclassman found themselves in that earned an amused snicker out of mark. though puns are just as nice too.
❝ good luck with that — haven't had a good night's rest since highschool. ❞ sleepy eyes scan the spawled out boy, playfully mocking his confidence in wordplay. the weight of his upper body slams onto the mattress & the bed frame practically quakes within his touch. it's absolutely amazing what these cheap & slightly uncomfortable beds can endure given how naturally rowdy young men were.
❝ isn't there a test for forensics tomorrow ? — you're gonna be in a grave situation if you end up sleeping during class . ❞
i’m a piss poor excuse of a neo-dadaist but overly flowery purple prose seeped into like 5 proxies of john keats references really do piss me off GFDHSJKFDJH
LIKE im probably reaching but to me the style imitates speech mannerisms commonly associated with (white) bourgeoise/petite bourgeoise academia and caters to an overplayed and primarily eurocentric aesthetic and narrative. it really is insufferably boring and unoriginal to read.
The Machinist (2004) dir. Brad Anderson
