What sucks right now is that so many show-only people, particularly women*, thought this was a story about a likable, well meaning, 'strong' woman who was going to stand up to patriarchy and claim the throne she deserved. That's a story a lot of women would want to watch, and the way writers framed Rhaenyra fit this well for people who didn't known what the Dance was about. People who didn't understand how the show was taking her agency away. Not that people thought show-Rhaenyra was perfect, but that she was the one we are supposed to root for.

Like most book readers I think softening her so much in Season 2 was a terrible mistake. They should have let her be as vengeful, cruel and self-centered from the start, as most of the adult main characters are. But instead we have the well-meaning but incompetent show version of Rhaenyra having this sudden personality change to 'Rhaenyra the Cruel' that will leave many non-book readers feeling a similar disappointment to the way GOT ended with Dany.

*(less so with many straight fanfic writers, but that is a whole other thing)

You should only write in present tense with extreme caution.

not because it's bad or anything but because if you do it even once you're going to be editing the bits where you shifted tenses out of your writing for the rest of your life

if u write in present tense enough times in a row, you can switch this problem around & get confused when your present-tense narrator is talking abt something that happened in Their past. I recommend this bc it keeps u on ur toes

This year we had one amazing adaptation of ASOIAF, that was true to the source despite some minor changes, was made by people who love and respect George and his universe, had an amazing cast with great chemistry, gave it all for locations, filming,lighting and costumes, had a great soundtrack and showed what good use of a budget can use.

And we had House of the dragon season 3, on the other hand.
