IMAN VELLANI as KAMALA KHAN in MS MARVEL (2022)
“i mean, it’s not a secret that i write fanfic. i just don’t advertise it.”
mahdthena:
“That look in your eyes— I know what it means. I see it everywhere I go. You want to ask me something, yet you hesitate. Why? Are you afraid I might hurt you?”
“wait -- are you thena?? like, the eternal thena?? holy cow.”
druiigs:
“it wasn’t a cult, alright? it was - more of a, uh - a commune.”
“i’m so quoting you on that.”
casslang:
“At this point, we all deserve a vacation to like, Fiji or something.” Cassie rolled her eyes, letting out a long sigh as she looked up at Kamala. “I’m still so new to all of this and it’s already a lot. I don’t know how the Avengers do it.”
“i want to go to tahiti. i saw a picture once and it looks fire.” kamala sighed. “i was a new avenger on earth-616 before i was a champion. it’s, like, a ton of pressure but it’s worth it. you just get up and do the thing and then do it again the next day.”
medusaliiths:
“Ms. Marvel,” Medusa returned to the Nuhuman, a soft smile on her face as she listened to what the girl had to say. She appreciated Kamala’s willingness to want to help however she could, although Medusa wasn’t sure where to even begin with accepting the offer. “I think it’s best that the Champions don’t get heavily involved with any of these affairs. Not publically yet, at least. I know that C.R.A.D.L.E. was technically disbanded, but I don’t think younger heroes are out of the fire quite yet. It would be useful to be on standby, though. If I’m being honest with you everything seems to be happening pretty quickly.”
“we want to make a difference.” kamala reassured her. “in whatever way we can. right now, we’re working against roxxon. some of us are a little more vocal than others, but we’re done hiding. it feels wrong to. but even if the champions can’t, please let me. i’m a nuhuman. i’m one of you. i can’t sit out anymore.”
destroyrofworlds:
“Thanks, Ms. Marvel.” Daisy smiled softly, making sure not to use her real name this time. She tended to forget that not everyone was out to the public. It had been several weeks since Pleasant Hill happened and the two hadn’t necessarily had the best last conversation. But Daisy really liked Kamala and felt bonded to her pretty quickly upon meeting. It was nice to relate it someone about the whole Nuhuman thing. It was a big adjustment for her to be introduced to New Attilan and that entire aspect of Inhumans that she’d missed out on. She’d always just assumed that Jiaying’s commune was it. “Of course, what’s up?”
“so... ulysses.” kamala let the name dangle between them. “have you heard about that yet?”
destroyrofworlds:
Gross stuff in the past was a great way to describe the past few months. Pleasant Hill, C.R.A.D.L.E., Westview… It was nice to hear some good news for once, though. “That’s great! I’m really glad they released all of those kids in those ReEducation Centers. Hopefully they just drop all of this stuff all together soon.”
“yeah, it couldn’t have come soon enough. some of them aren’t really okay.” kamala faltered. “but they will be. we’re all working on coming together again.”
bcrtonhawk:
“Don’t worry, Ms. Marvel. Everything’s fine.” Clint insisted, but shortly after he said that, some of the acid tipped arrows corroded through the bag and all plopped onto the floor.
“you sure there, dude?” kamala watched him wearily. “because that looks... messy?”
blackniight:
“you see, history is much more fascinating than you’d expect it to be.”
“i keep having to leave history class to, y’know, save the world. but i have to keep my grades up. my parents would kill me.”
xironxmanx:
“Nope, stop right there. Before you say anything— this is just as confusing for me as it is for you. Scratch that— this is way more confusing for me. So just- don’t say anything stupid, alright?”
“tony stark. actually tony stark. holy cow! that’s awesome. i’m so glad.”
pixelated-peter:
“Well, it’s a sandwich. Not as nice as night-pizza on a rooftop but— food is food.”
“i feel like amadeus always remembers to bring food. i eat at home.”
venuhm:
“alright, alright slow down. care to explain again?” “i didn’t say anything, eddie.” “i know that, now shut up. no, not you –”
“Oh, wow. Is that --” Kamala dropped her voice. “Venom??”
mcstermindmarty:
“It more so just makes you sound naive if you really think things are gonna get better.”
“I’m not naive. I’m just someone willing to put the work in.”
scientistsuprcme:
“It’s adorable that you feel that way. I guess that’s what naivety does to you.”
“I’m not naive. Trust me, I’ve seen some stuff.” Her name had been plastered all over a law that hurt the people she loved and her parents had gone through the heartbreak of a few tense hospital days before she woke up after the Coles Incident. “I’m just not a doomsdayer waiting for the end.” That was a word, right?
casslang:
“I don’t know, Kamala. I just have a really bad feeling. It’s hard to explain, but I think something bad is going to happen soon.”
“Let’s hope you’re not the Oracle of Delphi or anything. Or, even worse, Cassandra of Troy.” Kamala had propped her head up on her hand, her physic’s textbook open but abandoned. “I feel like we deserve a break. It doesn’t mean we’ll get one, but still. A girl can dream.”
xmoonsilk:
“Trust me, be glad you weren’t there. Getting sucked into a make believe town and turned into a cheerleader was not on my bingo card for the year.” Cindy shrugged absentmindedly as she toyed around with her phone, opening up Pokemon Go. “I don’t think anyone’s upset that you weren’t there.”
“I mean, you’ve definitely got a point there. We had to get everyone out of the Reeducation Center. Idk if you’ve talked to Miles, but that was a total mess.” Not to mention the fact that Kamala herself had been hospitalized for a while due to her injuries. The world knew that Kamala Khan had been hurt and Ms. Marvel was on the run. No one had connected the two. Kicking at the ground with the toe of one scuffed Converse, Kamala shrugged. “The guys would give me a hard time.” You’re gonna drive yourself crazy, Ms. M. We can’t save the world overnight. “I just got antsy, y’know?”
