Liss gave a tight, close-lipped smile as she gestured again for him to sit, trying to make him see how totally cool she was with the arrangement. She glanced down and involuntarily sighed, nodding. “Yeah,” she said, surpried he’d even remembered. Her uncomfortable smile became genuine for a moment. “It’s…awful, actually. I mean, you know, it’ll be worth it someday when I’m saving all the whales, but right now it’s hell.” After an awkward pause on her part, she realized the polite thing to do would be to return the question. “Uh, what about you? Have you made it onto Saturday Night Live yet? I haven’t been watching much,” the teasing tone in her voice came out easily, though she did hope he was doing something like that. She didn’t want to feel like an asshole for bringing up his failed dreams.
"Hmm, right. Didn't think it would be easy, but you're passionate about it. So.. You'll do awesome. And the whales will thank you," he smiled, taking the plastic lid off of his salad and poking at the lettuce with his fork for a moment before letting out a chuckle at her question. Abandoning the food, he looked to her, a slight grin on his face. He really didn't want it to be tense, but he knew it was his own fault. The least he could do was be happy to see her; in truth, he really was. It felt oddly good to be in her presence once again. "No SNL yet, unfortunately, but I did just come from an audition. So.. uh.. fingers crossed," he chuckled. "But I have had a few jobs. Even got to say a few lines on a TV show, so.. moving on up in the world, yeah?"
