The Infinity Saga Recap/Timeline, Part 1 of 2…….
It’s 12 days until Endgame and I figured that I should recap all events minor and major before we reach the finish line.
World War 2 has been raging with Hydra looking for a object of power called the Tesseract. Steve Rogers joins Project Rebirth and becomes Captain America and helps the allies thwart Hydra led by Red Skull and the Nazis at every turn. After losing his best pal Bucky he joins a final mission that ends with Red Skull seemingly dying, the Tesseract being lost and Captain America being frozen in ice.
Agent Peggy Carter, Cap’s girlfriend, and her buddies work for the SSR and fight the Council of Nine while forming what would later be called SHIELD.
The group fight the Council of Nine again in Los Angeles and finally beat them.
A woman meets a man who sweeps her of her feet and the man is an alien named Ego who she has a child with. He leaves her some years later however…..
Peter Quill, the son of Meredith and Ego, is at a hospital as his mother dies from cancer. The very second she dies he runs out distraught into the night but is abducted by an alien ship….
A woman named Vers crashlands in a Blockbuster video store and has alien superpowers which were given to her by the Kree. She’s trying to stop the Skrulls but after learning about her past from Nick Fury and others she helps the Skrulls out. Turns out the Skrulls are persecuted by the Kree and Carol beats them and spends the next several years off in deep space protecting them. Nick Fury meanwhile, gets an idea for a group of people….a certain initiative to be precise…….
Tony Stark, son of Howard and Maria Stark, is an arrogant playboy who gets kidnapped by the Ten Rings. After escaping and learning that his weapons were doing harm he decides to make things right by becoming Iron Man. Obadiah Stane, a friend of Tony’s father, decides to attempt a hostile takeover by becoming the Iron Monger. Iron Man beats him, reveals his identity to the world the next day and later that night meets Nick Fury who leads SHIELD and he wants to talk about the Avengers Initiative……
A Marvelous Week/Fury’s Big Week(all events below happened in one week at the same time)
3 years later, Tony Stark is running the Stark Expo but what no one knows is that his arc reactor chest piece is killing him.
Down in Brazil, Bruce Banner is in hiding which is botched after a workplace accident and after fleeing as the Hulk, he starts heading into the states.
Up in Asgard, Thor is being coronated but it’s interrupted by some Frost Giants and him along with Loki and his friends, Lady Sif and the Warriors Three head off to combat them.
In Rio, Whiplash attacks Iron Man with some high tech whips but even though he beats him people start doubting him. It later leads to a party which ends with him under house arrest by Nick Fury and his suit stolen by his friend Rhodey.
Thor is accosted by his father Odin and banished from Asgard and he lands down in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his hammer following after a few minutes later. Agent Coulson heads there, after having a scuffle with a thug in a gas station, to investigate.
Banner arrives at his old home at Culver University to find his old research so he can cure himself and reunites with Betty by accident.
Iron Man spends that night curing himself, building a new suit and stopping Justin Hammer and Whiplash with Rhodey/War Machine’s help.
Thor wakes up the next morning and befriends Jane Foster, Erik Selvig and Darcy and heads off to find his hammer. He finds he can’t move it as he’s not worthy and Loki appears and lies to him to keep him on Earth.
Meanwhile, earlier that day Culver University becomes a battle ground for the Hulk and the army but he escapes with Betty and the duo head for New York City the next day.
Fury meets with Tony and says he’s just a consultant now as a result of his little stunt and later Tony is given a medal for saving everyone at the Expo along with Rhodey.
Lady Sif and the Warriors Three figure out Loki’s plan to rule Asgard and go to get Thor and after a battle with the Destroyer, they all head back to Asgard and Thor and Loki battle with Loki dying after falling into the abyss. Unknown to them he survived and is infiltrating SHIELD by using Selvig as a puppet.
Banner and Betty arrive in NYC and cure Bruce but he’s taken away by the military. Blonsky, a soldier enhanced by the super soldier serum, forces Samuel Stern to give him some of Hulk’s blood which turns him into the Abomination. Hulk and Abomination fight in Harlem with Hulk winning and escaping to parts unknown and Betty staying in Manhattan.
General Ross, the guy who’s been chasing Hulk, is drowning his sorrows in a bar until Stark visits him and runs the Avengers Initiative by him but he turns it down.
SHIELD later finds Captain America up in the Arctic sometime later and thaw him out.
Loki makes his move and grabs the Tesseract and mind controls Selvig and Hawkeye while Fury has Black Widow and Coulson pick up Banner and inform Stark. Captain America and Iron Man grab Loki but after a fight with Thor, they head back to the Helicarrier and try to make a plan. Unfortunately Loki’s mind controlled minions attack and separate Thor and Hulk while Loki kills Coulson, which has them get their act together. Iron Man, Thor, Cap, Hawkeye, Widow and Hulk arrive in New York where a massive battle ensues between the newly formed Avengers and Loki and his Chituari army. The Avengers win….
Battle of New York Aftermath
Following the Battle, Loki and the Tesseract are taken back to Asgard while the others head their separate ways.
A couple find an alien weapon and use it to rob banks before they’re stopped.
Adrian Toomes is running a salvage operation before Tony’s new company called Damage Control steps in to replace them permanently. This angers Toomes who decides to continue salvaging but illegally.
Iron Man is suffering from mild PTSD but is otherwise alright until he comes into conflict with AIM and it’s leader Aldrich Killian who he’s able to defeat them and finally has an operation that fixes his heart condition.
During his stay in prison Trevor, the guy who pretended to be The Mandarin, is threatened by a member of the Ten Rings who’s leader the real Mandarin is none too pleased…..
Coulson, who’s been resurrected, forms a team of agents to keep the world safe from various threats.
In London, Jane Foster becomes host to the Aether which results in the Dark Elves attacking Asgard and trying to takeover the 9 Realms. Thor is able to beat him and save the 9 Realms but it’s not without a casualty: Friga, Thor and Loki’s mom is killed. Thor decides to stay on Earth with Jane.
The Agents of SHIELD clean up the mess caused by those events and do battle with an organization called CENTIPEDE.
Captain America has spent the last 2 years working with SHIELD but soon Nick Fury is attacked by an unknown party who’s got an assassin named the Winter Soldier. Cap soon finds out that Hydra has infiltrated SHIELD, the Winter Soldier is Bucky and plans to take over the planet but Cap, Falcon, Sharon, Widow, Maria and Fury defeat Hydra but it’s put a target on all SHIELD agents by they innocent or guilty.
Coulson and co deal with Hydra and CENTIPEDE as one of their members, Ward, turns on them. With some help from Fury and Hill, they beat them all.
Meanwhile, far away on Xandar 4 outlaws are caught by the Nova Corps and sent to a prison where they escape with a 5th member. They are: Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon and Groot and together they along with the Marauders save Xandar from Ronan the Accuser and Nebula, Gamora’s sister. They give the power stone to the Nova Corps for safe keeping while they head off now to help people.
Some time later they meet Ego, Peter’s father who’s a celestial but learn that he’s evil and wants to destroy the universe. The Guardians of the Galaxy along with Yondu and Nebula are able to beat Ego and kill him but at the cost of Yondu’s life.
October - December: Earth
Back on Earth, the criminal underworld of Manhattan which is led by Wilson Fisk/Kingpin takes advantage of the city while it’s rebuilding. Matt Murdock/Daredevil goes on a crusade to take him down and succeeds in this endeavor which results in a power vacuum….
Jessica Jones, a private detective, ends being stalked by her psychotic ex Kilgrave/Purple Man who’s got the ability to control minds. Her, her sister Trish, Luke Cage and others manage to put an end to him by snapping his neck.
Coulson becomes head of SHIELD and tries to rebuild it while trying to keep Hydra, Major Talbot and soon one of their members gets powers from the Terrigen Mists which give rise to Inhumans.
Meanwhile, the Avengers are stomping Hydra left and right and following a particular op which involved getting Loki’s staff, Tony and Bruce make an AI to carry on their mission of saving the world. Unfortunately, said AI goes nuts, renames itself Ultron and recruits Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver: these 2 were being experimented on and they hate Stark. But they find out that Ultron wants mass extinction so they join The Avengers along with War Machine and the newly created Vision. After beating Ultron and saving the world the Avengers split: Tony and Hawkeye retire, Thor goes looking for the Infinity Stones, Hulk disappears and Captain America and Black Widow lead a new team of Avengers made up of Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Vision and War Machine.
Daredevil deals with the void left by Kingpin and also meets a new hero…er, anti hero named Frank Castle/Punisher but on top of that he runs into his old girlfriend Elektra. Matt is able to jail Frank but learns that the Hand is in town and they’ve got big plans for the city.
Over in San Francisco, a ex-con named Scott Lang is released from prison and soon gets swept up in a situation that involves Pym Industries which is run by Darren Cross who wants to weaponize a suit made by Hank Pym/Ant Man 1. Scott becomes the new Ant Man and helps Hank and his daughter Hope beat Darren/Yellowjacket and save Pym’s invention and company.
Meanwhile, after the Terrigen Mist is unleashed into the water and food supply, the team tries to help the new Inhumans while also saving one of their own from an alien planet.
Things come to a head as the Hand makes their move and soon Daredevil, Elektra and The Punisher fight against the Hand and save Manhattan. In the aftermath, Elektra dies, Frank disappears and Matt leaves his civilian life behind.
Down in Harlem, Luke Cage battles against Cottonmouth and Diamondback which ends with him getting put in jail after everything is said and done.
The Team is able to get one of their own back but unfortunately it brings a huge threat along with it. Namely a ancient enemy of the Inhumans called Hive who starts making moves to destroy everyone. They also deal with a hate group called the Watchdogs.
Following an international incident the government passes the Sokovia Accords which if signed will have the government control the Avengers. This causes a split in the Avengers which is worsened when a summit is attacked and Bucky is the culprit. The frame up works and eventually a fight at an airport occurs between Iron Man and Captain America’s team which ends with most of Cap’s team caught and Rhodey crippled. Iron Man, Captain America and Bucky head to an old Hydra base and find out that Zemo caused it all out of revenge for his family who died in Sokovia. Zemo shows a video of Bucky killing Tony’s parents which causes one last fight between Cap and Iron Man which ends with Cap and Bucky leaving. Zemo is arrested by Black Panther who followed Iron Man and by the end the Avengers are all but shattered……
The team, meanwhile, is able to beat Hive but not without a casualty as one of the team sacrifices themselves.
A week later, Black Panther becomes king of Wakanda after fighting against Kilmonger who tried to wage war on the world before being killed in battle with T'Challa/Black Panther. He later reveals Wakanda’s existence to the world.
In Manhattan, Danny Rand returns and fights against the Hand as well as some traitorous family members who want him dead.
Up on the moon, Black Bolt and his family deal his brother Maximus who stages a coup. This has the family hide in Hawaii for a while before coming back and saving their people while imprisoning Maximus. They decide to move to Earth and form New Attilan.
Peter Parker/Spider-Man goes back to school after helping Iron Man at the airport in Germany and soon deals with Adrian Toomes/Vulture who’s an arms dealer giving thugs alien weapons. Spider-Man beats his right hand man Shocker and takes down Vulture as well and is offered a place on the Avengers the next day but he turns it down in favor of helping the little guy. Tony is relived but he also winds up making the news as he gets engaged with his girlfriend Pepper in front of several reporters.
Later, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones meet up and soon save Manhattan from the Hand as the Defenders which seems to end in Daredevil’s death….
Punisher comes back to Manhattan and soon starts doing what he does best. This soon ends with him fighting an old friend who was one of the parties responsible in his family’s death.
Now way back and about a few days after the fight in the airport, a talented surgeon loses the use of his hands(broken not cut off)and tries to fix them. Over the course of the year he winds up training in ghe mystic arts and soon near the end of the year battles a creature called Dormammu and wins by sticking him in a timeloop.
Next time, I’ll finish it off as I’m running out of space…..
