New DOOM DLC....
So, next Tuesday is the release of the DLC for DOOM: The Dark Ages called Revelations!
I'm looking forward to this one because it's gonna have us meet the Wretch mentioned in DOOM 2016 and give us flashbacks to the original DOOM games from the 90's....
Wonder what they'll make canon in the flashbacks?
The Digital Circus Freak.....
Ok, this is one of the stories set in this universe, and it is a modern reboot of Freakazoid!
The story opens with Dexter Douglas landing in the Digital Circus by way of a dare that involves him staying the night in the abandoned C and A Building.
He winds up the victim of a freak accident involving a thunderstorm, which results in him meeting the crew and spending time with them.
Eventually, he winds up having to save them when V.I.R.U.S. attacks the Circus and takes it over.
Following these events, they wind up in the real world at one point. They they also wind up getting Queenie, Kaufmo, Ribbit, and Jax back. By the end of the whole thing, Dexter operates as Freakazoid in the real world while the others head back home, with some help from a group that operates out of the town of Bailey.....
Yeah, I'm gonna keep building this universe, and it's other realms as time goes on....so stay tuned folks!
If you saw the tags in the last post, yes, that's part of it, but it's also inspired by Earth 27.
Earth 27 is a collab between two people on Deviantart to create a massive universe.....
I've been toying around with an idea after seeing a couple of things....
All I can say is that it's a shared universe inspired by Disney's Chibiverse.....
My Adventures with Superman Recap, Final Part....
I know I'm late, but I'm just going over the shared universe aspect of this series because as of season 3, the green lanterns are going to appear!
Anyways, the second season sees Superman take on Brainiac and his enforcer: Kara! Luckily, Superman and his friends are able to break the brainwashing on Kara and beat Brainiac for good.
This season not only introduced Supergirl, but it also showed that this universe is bigger as the alien race that Hawkman and Hawkgirl are part of appear, a Parademon appears, and a Green Lantern shows up!
This is starting to turn into the new DCAU!
Hopefully, we'll get shows centered around other heroes in this universe since we're getting a Green Lantern show now....
My Adventures With Superman Recap, Part 1.....
Since the new season of this show is coming out on Sunday, I figured catch everyone up on the first 2 seasons of it in the meantime....
So, in season one, we meet Clark, Lois, and Jimmy as they intern at the Daily Planet. At the same time, Clark is making his debut as Superman and, over the course of the season, builds a rouges gallery of villains:
Silver Banshee
Rough House
Mist
Livewire
Heat Wave
Parasite
Mxyzptlk
But the ones that give him the most trouble is Task Force X made up of Amanda Waller, Lois's dad Sam, and Slade Wilson/Deathstroke, who think he's a threat. The trio are able to beat the odds, but little do they know that something way more dangerous was on the way.......
Next time, we find out who that threat is next season.....
Thoughts on Overwatch's Return.....
Yeah, I remember this hero shooter.....it was the most popular one until Marvel Rivals came along that is....
To me, I was interested in the backstory of its universe, and I think they should do what Riot does for League of Legends:
Make single player spin offs!
Leave the hero shooter thing as it's going now, but have other studios make games set its world that elaborates on certain events:
A game set during the time it and Blackwatch were active....
A game set during the gap leading into the recall....
A game about the fight with Null Sector set after the recall....
Seriously, there's tons of potential there since these guys might not make an animated series....I know Riot did, but that took a long time. Then again, they are showing a webtoon comic that shows how they're holding up after Talon attacks them.....so that's something!
Adaptation Amalgamation Corner: Sonic the Hedgehog (Paramount Pictures)....
As you can guess from the title, this is about franchises with entries that sport this trope. For a quick explanation of the trope:
It's basically making a new work by patching together different elements from different sources....
I'm starting with the film series featuring the Blue Blur!
The films for Sonic combine various elements from the video game series:
The second film is a fusion of the events of Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. There are some differences to make it unique, though:
In the games, Knuckles was guarding the Master Emerald and didn't know much about his race....
the movie changes it so that Knuckles is instead looking for the Master Emerald and knows about his tribe but by the end, he's a hero and is guarding it...
The third film is a fusion of Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog and does the same thing:
In the games, the whole thing kicks off when Eggman breaks Shadow out for a new scheme and frames Sonic because GUN can't differentiate between the two....
The film has Shadow freed by someone else, while the Commander gets killed, which gets Team Sonic in trouble so the frame up makes sense....
Shadow also has his backstory changed in some ways as well:
In the games, Shadow is created by Gerald and Black Doom...
The film changes it so that Shadow instead arrives on Earth in a meteor and is fully formed but has no memories...
The Space Colony Ark is in the games, but the film just uses the Eclipse Cannon as a kill sat with one big room...
Maria is normal in the film, but in the games, she was dying.....
Gerald dies long before the present day by firing squad in the games but the film has him survive until present day.....
Now we just have to see what games Sonic 4 fuses together to make a story, and that's going to be entertaining to see!!!
My Experience With....: Devil May Cry....
Sorry, lots of things happened in the past 2 weeks! But since the 2nd season of DMC is going to come out next Tuesday, I'm gonna share my experience with this franchise...
My first introduction to Devil May Cry was actually the reboot by Ninja Theory, but that was only in that it was my first game in the series.
The reboot was a fun game, and the story is basically a punk version of the main series but turns Dante and Vergil into nephilim, angel/demon hybrids, which makes this the only installment that acknowledged heaven being around!
The next time I saw Reboot!Dante was in Playstation All Stars Battle Royale and well, I haven't seen him since then....
My first exposure to Classic!Dante, along with Trish and Vergil, was in Marvel vs Capcom 3 and it's Ultimate update!
Fun fact: I thought that the 3 of them were humans who used magic to fight demons....
I also clocked their personalities as well...
Dante was the cool smart ass
Vergil was the ultra serious brother
Trish was the one with a past
And I pretty much thought they were cool!
But I wouldn't get their backstories and lore until DMC5....
The fifth game pretty much brought me up to speed on everything that happened and introduced me to Lady, Nero, and a few others. It was also tons of fun and the music kicked ass!
After this, the series would disappear for a while but would come back as a Netflix series, which I thought was pretty good if a bit different in some places.....
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance Thoughts....
Finally, back after tearing through a few games, which I'll give my thoughts on them.
Starting with this one!
Now, I was aware of Joe Musashi as he appeared in Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed. But this game is my first time playing a game from his series!
The story begins with Ruse, a powerful villain and the head of ENE Corp, wiping out the Oboro Clan that Joe leads, and we follow him as he takes the fight to Ruse.
The game is done by the guys who did Streets of Rage 4 as it is drawn in 2D animation, which is pretty! I'm not saying a lot because it needs to be experienced cause it is a fun ride from start to finish....
I will tell you about the DLC pack that came out on April 3rd....
It adds 5 new stages as well as 3 new bosses and various other goodies!
Who are the bosses?
Death Adder from Golden Axe
Goro Majima from Yakuza
Dr. Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog
Yes, in a story that occurs after Ruse is defeated, his misuse of supernatural energies results in these 3 characters getting pulled into Joe's universe and now he has to battle them....
This was a fun one!!!!
Ok, that's my thoughts on this game! So next time, I'll share my thoughts on another game which is from a series that was on hiatus for a while.....
Sonic Racing Crossworlds Review.....
Figured I'd share my opinion on the racing game that came out last year....
It's pretty fun, and I did get the DLC that is still getting packs as we got the Mega Man one during the last week of last month! Plus, the free characters they're adding don't hurt either.
In fact, this month, we're getting Red from Angry Birds and Goro Majima in his pirate suit from Yakuza! So that means there's only 3 characters left as well as the TMNT and Avatar characters.
Since they released Tangle and Whisper as a duo, odds are we might get Surge and Kit when the TMNT arrive!
The Kai Sei Era: Ayan....
Ok, now let's move the action away from Earth and out into the farthest reaches of space and join a team of mercenaries who pilot a Mechagodzilla!
Starship Godzilla: First Wars
Ayan and her crew do odd jobs across the galaxy and meet various alien races. They even run across King Ghidorah at one point, but their next job winds up landing them in a dangerous situation....
During a mission on a mining planet, Ayan winds befriending a rebel named Frey, who's battling the Xilian Empire. The Xiliens are a nefarious empire that is trying to conquer the galaxy and will destroy anyone who gets in the way....
Ayan, who has a strong sense of justice, decides to help the Rebellion out. Unfortunately, the rest of the crew took up a job with said empire, and they even tried to imprison her! Luckily, she has the charisma of Star Lord and gets them to help her, which is great because the Xiliens manage to take control of SpaceGodzilla in order to kill the rebels...
Ayan, Frey, and the crew manage to get the Xiliens to retreat by making SpaceGodzilla angry enough to turn on his masters but it comes with a cost as they're now at the top of the Xiliens @#$% list.
But at least Ayan and Frey are gonna be a couple in the future, so.....silver lining?
So, that concludes Ayan's story....for now at least as Ayan and The Wanderer will return, and as of this writing, Jacen's story is in its second arc... about 2 issues into it at least!
Plus, I want to see the Kai Sei Era turned into a cartoon show because, honestly, the last time Godzilla had a show in the west was 78 and 98, so he needs a third one!
The Kai Sei Era: Jacen Braid
Okay, I'm back...so let's jump to the next character in this universe. Now, while The Wanderer's story was a post-apocalyptic western, this has more of superhero feel!
Godzilla: End of the Reign
Our story begins in sunny San Diego, the home base of a faction of G-Force that operates in the USA. The team is made up of 5 members:
Riviera, the team leader with a patriotic streak...
Rumi Chiba, a transfer from the Japan team who's a telepath...
Nuki, the weapons specialist....
Incense, an influencer with pyrokinetic powers....
Jet Jaguar, a robot who can grow to the size of a kaiju....
But now they're getting a 6th member in the form of a teenage boy named Jacen Braid, who is the strongest G-Mutant in the world as a month ago he drove off Godzilla!
While tracking and fighting monsters, they soon come across a horde of leeches called Yacumama that drain Kai Sei energy. This results in the team splitting into 2 teams:
Jacen, Rumi, and Jet Jaguar pursue Godzilla as he's looking for the leeches...
Riviera, Incense and Nuki head off to investigate a test site in Nevada...
Riviera and his group run into Lament, a kaiju with the ability to speak and with high intelligence that is able to convince him to help it. The 2 teams meet up in an underground area where Rumi is able to convince them that the leeches are dangerous to everyone, and it results in a team up between G-Force USA and Godzilla!
But Lament puts a backup plan in motion and reveals that their true identity is that of Jacen's mother and that Godzilla's attack was deliberate, which resulted in Jacen and Godzilla going for a third round with Las Vegas as the battleground......
During the chaos, Lament goes on a villain rant about how she was chosen by the anti Kai Sei and that Jacen is her weapon to achieve her mission. She escapes after Godzilla is damaged enough that he will explode and turn Vegas into a 2nd Deadzone. Until Rumi comes up with a plan to save everyone: she is able to telepathically convince Godzilla to hop into Jacen's body and, as a result, Vegas isn't destroyed!
Now, that might seem like a happy ending, but Lament is still out there, and with Godzilla gone, it means that something more dangerous is going to take the vacant throne......let's hope SpaceGodzilla doesn't drop out of the sky to take over because he's very evil!
And that does it for Jacen Braid as the second arc is under way as of this writing.... Next time, we'll head off into space and meet a crew of misfits on the U.S.S. MechaGodzilla......
The Resident Evil Timeline, Final Part...
Ok, we've reached the current end of the timeline, so let's get cracking!
Resident Evil 6(2012-2013)
Remember Carla? The leader of Neo Umbrella? Well, she has a score to settle with Derek Simmons, who's a member of a secret organization called "The Family," and this feud leads to chaos...
The battle between these two organizations drags in Chris, Piers, Ada Wong, Leon, his new partner Helena, as well as Sherry, who's now older and Jake Muller, the son of Albert Wesker!
Resident Evil Heavenly Island(2014)
A year later, Claire goes off to investigate a bioterror incident on an island hosting a reality show....yes, really.
Resident Evil Vendetta, Resident Evil Death Island and Biohazard The Experience(2015)
Throughout this year, Chris and Leon face down 2 different bioterror attacks, which results in Leon and Claire meeting Rebecca and Jill for the first time.
There was also an incident involving 13 people at a mansion....
Umbrella Corps(2016)
This was basically several corporations fighting over whatever was left of Umbrella's B.O.W.S....
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard(2017)
This incident occurs in Louisiana, where a guy named Ethan goes looking for his wife Mia, which results in him fighting an infected family as well as a B.O.W. named Evaline....
Shortly afterward, Chris arrives to clean up any stragglers.
Resident Evil 8: Village(2021)
Three years after the events of Louisiana, Mia and his infant daughter Rose are kidnapped by Mother Miranda and her entourage called the Four Houses.
So Ethan heads off to Europe to save them with a little help from Chris and his unit the Hound-Wolf Squad!
Ok! That brings up to the present day since Resident Evil 9 comes out tomorrow! It's crazy that this franchise is 30 years old! Happy 30th Resident Evil!
The Kai Sei Era: The Wanderer.....
I'm back, and I decided to do something for that new Godzilla comic universe IDW is doing. Plus, it's perfect timing since Godzilla is about to meet up with Sonic the Hedgehog!
I mentioned this universe before, but let me recap the basics:
In 1954, an experiment was conducted with an energy source called Kai Sei. Something goes wrong and for the next 70 years, kaiju ravage the planet to the point where all the world's major cities are hidden behind walls.
In this post-apocalyptic landscape, G-Force was created to defend humanity against nature's wrath and their main threat is the one, the only, the King of The Monsters....GODZILLA!
Ok, now let's start with the first of the 3 characters that each represent a setting in this world.....The Wanderer.....
Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone
The Pacific Northwest used to be a normal place until a massive accident transformed it into a massive wasteland inhabited by kaiju and mutants. There's still people in the zone, but they mostly try to survive since the government has walled them off and forgot about them.
In Mutant City(formerly Portland), The Wanderer(a half man, half kaiju hybrid)takes a job to get rid of a monster that is causing problems little knowing that he'll get more than he bargained for....
Upon killing the monster, a little girl named Glasseater breaks out of it, and the 2 of them are grabbed by the massive cult that operates in the zone called the Church of Godzilla! These guys are under the steadfast belief that Godzilla and his kaiju brethren are divine retribution for mankind's crimes against the planet and want to help kill the human race... Yeah, they're certified whackjobs! So, Wanderer grabs both kids, Glasseater and Runt, and the trio are able to escape from the cult....
Sometime later, while camping, the trio sees Godzilla walking through the Deadzone as if he's looking for something. Here, we learn that the Wanderer was once an ordinary office worker until Godzilla turned up in Seattle and uprooted his entire life. They soon come across a 40-foot tall 12 year old girl named Sherry, who is a Portland native who fell in love with Godzilla and followed him into the Deadzone with they rampant Kai Sei energy being responsible for her sudden height change.
Soon, the four are taken captive by a town of kaiju poachers who throw Wanderer and Sherry into a fighting pit with Baragon and try to brainwash Glasseater but Runt along Hue, another captive, come up with a plan to escape....
Meanwhile, the cult gets help from the US government because the twins can control monsters, and that makes them property on principle. The cult arrives at the town only for Runt and Hue's plan to kick off as the reason Godzilla was in the Deadzone was because he was looking his Minilla....who was taken by said poachers.
Godzilla arrives in town and tears the place down and is reunited with his son, but it's a tragic reunion for the four as Mother A, the head of the cult, agitates Godzilla which results in the Wanderer getting stomped on.....
Oh, he doesn't die as he wakes up in a cell with a scientist greeting him, and we learn 2 things as the story ends:
The Wanderer's true name is Elias
He's being held at a G-Force blacksite in the walled up city of Manhattan
Don't worry.... We'll see the Wanderer and his crew again in the sequel series, Revenge of the Deadzone.
But let's focus on the second character in this universe who would also go on to change things forever as next time, we meet Jacen Braid, the boy with the power of Godzilla.....
Castlevania Returns......
Yes, you read that right! Konami brought back Castlevania for the 40th anniversary.
My history with this classic franchise from the 80s started with the Lords of Shadow trilogy(never played Mirror of Fate), continued with the 2 netflix shows and there was Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania(yes it's technically not a Castlevania game but it counts).
So the fact that it's coming back and by the guys who Dead Cells no less was a genuine surprise because in the back of my mind that they'd be perfect for a solo Castlevania game.
As for the new Castlevania game, which is called Belmont's Curse, it takes place chronologically after Castlevania 3 and Curse of Darkness.
It's a metriodvania that stars a female Belmont who is Trevor and Sypha's daughter. It's going to come out this year, so I'm definitely getting it because it's my first Castlevania from the main timeline!
The Resident Evil Timeline Part 3....
Welcome to the new year, and we are just 2 weeks away from Resident Evil 9, so let's continue this trip through the world of survival horror!
Resident Evil: Degeneration(November 2005)
Following an incident at an airport, Leon and Claire get swept up in a situation involving WilPharma and Curtis Miller, a man who lost his family in the Raccoon City Incident.
The guy's goal was to basically make the truth of Raccoon City known to the world....
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness(2006)
A year later, Leon and Claire get caught up in a zombie outbreak at the White House that was orchestrated by Tricell, a company run by none other than Albert Wesker!
Resident Evil 5 (2009)
3 years later, Tricell starts an outbreak in Africa and it gets the attention of Chris Redfield and his new partner Sheva, who battle their way through the Uroboros outbreak.
By the end, they rescue a brainwashed Jill Valentine as well as destroy Tricell and finally kill Albert Wesker!
Biohazard The Stage(2010)
Chris gets a brand new partner named Piers and the two BSAA agents head to Australia to deal with a viral outbreak at a university...
Resident Evil Revelations 2 and Resident Evil Damnation (2011)
The following year, Claire Redfield, Barry, and his daughter Moira get kidnapped and taken to Sein Island, where they are attacked by Alex Wesker who is Albert's sister and is just as psychotic as him.....
Later that year, Leon was sent to the Eastern Slav Republic to investigate a civil war where B.O.W.s were being used on said battlefield....
Resident Evil: The Marhawa Desire (2012)
Chris and Piers are called in to investigate a viral outbreak in a prestigious school and unknowingly get a peek at the C Virus in action...
The duo are able to stop it, but the real mastermind behind the attack named Carla Radames, who has something even bigger in mind......something that would draw in a lot of familiar faces!
Okay, tune in next time for part 4 as we wrap this whole thing up in a neat little bow! Also, that Biohazard The Stage thing....that's an actual play and is canon to the timeline....
