To begin, the invention of the gif is probably one of the world's greatest masterpieces because the amount of times I have slowed down Mark and Gemma's precise moment of physical reconnection is probably an unhealthy amount but if you do it you can reap the reward of seeing Mark's fingers curl up under hers. He spends so much energy throughout the show on getting back to her and every choice is a forward step and then he's THERE and IN FRONT OF HER and there is still a gap to fill and each following step in careful and quiet and tender and even when her skin is LESS THAN A BREATH AWAY FROM HIS, when he doesn't have to wait more than a QUARTER OF A SECOND FOR CONTACT, he reaches. He extends even just the slightest bit further because even in this slow moment he's rushing to her.
He's so EAGER for her touch again and that last LITTLE RAISE I feel like packages Mark's Love up in a nice box and bow. Love isn't just love for him, it's life! It's water at the end of year-long trek through the desert, when you finally get to it you're not going to sip you're going to GULP and you're going to want to get your hands on it AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE!

LIKE??!??!!??! What did Gemma's Cold Harbor Innie think when she was born and immediately her hands were put to work and then, FROM NOWHERE, the opportunity for something softer. A human hand taking hers. REMOVING THE WEAPON, THE DEFENSE, THE LABOR and introducing gentleness and warmth and UNDERLYING FAMILIARITY?!
What did it feel like to have fingers curl under her own when the only materials she had ever touched were SO unyielding?!
And it's a hand that doesn't yank you forward or wrap itself so tightly around yours. It lets you slide comfortably into place and its owner reassures you that it's okay.
NOW I'M THINKING!!! When they got to the threshold and he let her hand go (trusting her to follow with just words AH!) did she involuntarily reach back out? Was there a twitch in her fingers asking to stay connected? Was there a tug in her stomach? A coldness she had not yet felt before at losing that particular warmth?! Did her hand stop trembling in his only to start up again when she no longer had it?!
