something about “Kier’s war against pain,” and how each of Gemma’s innies relive a memory theoretically (in the eyes of lumon) on a clean slate, without the “pain” or really any feeling whatsoever that such a memory carried in her original life (the most obvious example taking apart a crib in cold Harbor) but in reality, each of those Gemmas in each of those rooms is just living a life of suffering and suffering and suffering.
