some portrayal notes of things to come:
a lot more time and attention to his trauma, ocd, and the consequences of it all as well as the eventual road to recovery. more thorough meta to come around this.
a lot more time and attention (and again, probably deep dive meta posts) to being a black man in america, to his relationship with god and religion (it's gotten shaky for mm, but he's a christian nonetheless), to his time serving in the military, to his anger.
not only went through with a divorce to monique but stuck with it. marvin has a very high view of women and his own code of conduct with how they should be treated; he failed her pretty damn badly, and it was next to impossible to pursue what he felt he had to pursue while simultaneously keeping them safe. so the divorce stuck. monique finds happiness elsewhere. is marvin heart broken? yeah. but can he continue to live that double life or even try to find peace with his family and move on while soldier boy's still breathing? nah.
piggybacking off that, soldier boys should note that my marvin is extremely antagonistic with him for obvious reasons and may require careful plotting prior to or around interactions. i also have a verse idea around marvin taking compound v and gaining super strength, which could lend to him trying to finally take ben out for good.
the relationship between marvin and billy is rough and extremely complicated after billy gains powers, and stays that way until/unless we plot out otherwise.
annie is marvin's girl. he becomes very loyal to her, as indicated by the show, and hughie's treatment of her throughout the seasons cuts into his own relationship with hughie in a pretty damn negative way. as i've mentioned, he has a very low tolerance for especially women being mistreated, and he's quick to step in and course correct.
with all of that being said, just as an aside... i am extremely shipping friendly and more than willing to take even the above hostile or platonic dynamics and turn them into ships if any of my mutuals ever wish to, but it's gonna need to make sense and be fun... plus i do tend to favor exploring the toxic and the will this even work? more than the fluffy and domestic, usually. let's plot about it !
