So I made a Tumblr just in case the bird site decides to up and disappear on us all.

I know Tumblr has a... not great... track record, but whatever. At least it's not owned by a doofus who thinks he's God's gift to the world and can technology his way out of any problem. Especially since he's just shown he knows far less about technology than he let on.

Expect more things from this account, but not too often. I'm not looking to get ANOTHER addiction going. But there are folks who wanted to be able to keep in touch with me should bird site bomb.

It just occurred to me I should probably explain a little about what you'll see on this blog:

I grow weary of exposing myself to the horrors of the world so I may end up passing right by some things that I might otherwise feel need more attention than they're getting, but that doesn't mean I don't see them.

What do I mean by raging, shrieking screaming leftism? - Capitalism is evil and should be dismantled - There is no such thing as a "good" billionaire - There is no such thing as a "good" cop - Palestine will be free - This does not mean I support Hamas so fuck off - This also does not mean I support antisemitism so fuck off - Trans and Queer rights are human rights - Black Lives Matter, no matter how much non-black folks try to act like they don't - Land back, everywhere - Train good, car bad -- we need walkable cities

This is of course, not a complete list, but it gives you a snapshot of where I'm at. If you disagree with any of it... get the fuck off my blog and don't come back. I do not have time, desire, or fucking SPOONS to argue with you.

I recently came out to my mother's side of the family who are majority conservative christians and it went much better than I expected. Like, they were weirdly supportive. I only got one comment insinuating that I might possibly be going to hell but it came from my aunt and she's dying soon anyway so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Anyway, I'm telling them how shocked I am and that I honestly thought that they'd have more of a problem with it when my grandma is like "Well you know we've been through this before with your uncle Nicky" and I'm like "what" and so it turns out that my uncle Nick was born a Natalie, came out as a boy at 19, and my great grandma proceeded to pay for his top surgery and hormone therapy. In 1974. And I just had to process for a bit because my entire life no one has referred to him as anything other than he/him and his chosen name. I ask why no one ever thought to mention this and they're just like "tbh we forgot. It's been so long that he's been a man" This man is married. He has a wife and three kids. I ask my relatives how they went about having kids, whether through adoption or sperm donor or what and none of them know. Apparently he just told everyone that they were gonna be parents and then one day showed up at my grandma's house with a baby. No questions were asked. Just. He and his wife had a baby now and that was that. Three times. Weeks later when I finally talk to my aunt Sarah (Nick's wife) all she tells me is that neither of them have ever been pregnant and, I quote, "sometimes you just come into children". She phrased it like people use the phrase "come into money". Like children are something that just happens to you. I ask my relatives if any of them had a problem with Nick being trans at the time, saying I'd understand if they had negative feelings about it, as it was the 1970s after all. They were like "nope" and i was just like "you didn't think anything of it?" And my grandfather was like "these things happen" while the other adults nodded sagely. So I guess the moral here is that if my conservative christian relatives could accept my uncle as trans in the 1970s then there really isn't any excuse for anyone. And also my family needs to ask more questions because I'm fairly sure my aunt and uncle stole their kids.

I'm laughing my ass off at that last sentence- But I'm so glad your coming out went well! That's one heck of a way to find out you have LGBT relatives.

It's June, motherfuckers, and you know what that means! Apart from firing a few rent-lowering shots to filter out the chuds from my following, it's probably also a good time to post a reminder that there are many strange ways to be queer, and this is one of them.

It's Pride Month, so if you'll forgive me I'm taking a two minute break from the One Piece, League of Legends, Marvel Rivals, Final Fantasy and Pokémon shorts to tell you… Sylveon is trans, Taliyah is trans, everyone on the Straw Hats is queer, there are no words to describe how queer superheroes are as a concept let alone how queer they all are individually, and here's a fun fact for you: Cloud Strife's story gets ten times better when you understand it as an allegory for a trans coming out experience.

As for me, well, I'm not trans, but I do occupy my own little space in the rainbow flags which looks like this. I am aromantic.

We are generally not as visible as many of our queer siblings, probably at least partly because it's kind of a difficult identity to even discover in yourself, you basically have to prove a negative.

But what is this thing, "aromantic"? Well… okay, let's say you're a straight guy, right. You know the way you feel romantically about other men? I feel exactly the same way, and then I also feel that way about women, and then also the same way about all of the other genders.

Now, aromantic often goes along with asexual, there's a lot of co-occurrence of the two, but not always, and that is my situation. Yes to sex, no to romance, which being a man, yes, I know, that just makes me the same as 90% of the men you match on Hinge. "Ha ha ha didn't realize "fuccboi" was an orientation now," I know. I get it. I understand. I have had all the same thoughts myself, especially when I was questioning.

Which is the difficulty with being aromantic, because in order to figure out that that's what you are, you have to prove a negative. I have never been in love, and I have no reason to think I ever will be… but what if someday I meet The One??? What if there's a special divinely designated perfect soulmate out there, just waiting for me, and one day our eyes will meet across the room and it will be love at first sight forever?

And like. I can't prove that won't happen, anymore than I can prove that there isn't a flowery pink teapot currently hiding somewhere in the orbit of Saturn. And frankly, if it did happen, I wouldn't be mad. Why would I be? I would have a soulmate! That's a pretty big W, I think.

But… I've had over thirty years to encounter someone—anyone—who can spark my romantic interest, and thus far, every challenger of every gender has failed. So either I am aromantic, or else you people have a skill issue.

Anyway, like anything to do with queerness, aromantic is a sprawling and diverse spectrum. You got your aroaces, aroallos, aroflux, arospikes, demiromantics, frayromantics, grayromantics, cupioromantics, there's a whole world of different experiences present under this umbrella. For me, though, just "aromantic" is fine. That's the broad label, that's the one I fall under, that's the identity I take pride in. Happy June!

Just saw an ask you answered about infiltrating right wing groups - as someone who's been heavily involved in local and national level antifascism in my country for over a decade, and who has supported multiple infiltrations over the years, thank you for your level-headed caution around infiltration of far right groups.

A lot of newer people's first thoughts around what they can contribute seem to head in that direction, especially in-person infiltration, but they don't consider the impacts on their ability to *ever* be seen among lefties again, to have public photos anywhere under a different name, to have their own or family & friends' social media ever be public (or at least publicly refer to u at all), plus the impact on mental health to be around such intensely opposing worldviews for extended periods.

And then also the impacts on their own lives if they're publicly outed as a nazi (it has happened before, and requires constant careful management from a team of well-connected people to ensure it doesn't), and the impacts on theirs and their loved ones' lives if they make a privacy/security mistake or are found out.

Start with stuff that's less drastically risky to everyone around you, I promise you have skills that are of use to antifascism other than pretending to be a nazi. Build up to that later if you must.
