So unless you've been living under a rock you'd know that Dr. Abdul el-sayed (I am one of those annoying people who say Dr, I say Dr. Sun yat sen ect my brain is broken) has won the Democratic primary despite AIPAC spending 70 million dollars on Haley Stevens and the insane Islamophobia that came out of her, Mallory Mcmorrow and various democrats and the weird amount of times that Stevens used Obama, which reminds me of another left wing Muslim man who ran as a Democrat which caused other democrats to be literal blue maga.
5 months ago I made the absolutely awful choice to reinstall twitter and I've been there posting, scrolling, ruining my mood and on the day after Abdul el-sayed (AES which always throws me for a loop cause it also means Actually Existing Socialism) won I saw this tweet
The responses were the usual "Deport" "Denaturalization" "Islam is this" "Islam is that" yada yada but something else kept popping up "assimilate" "assimilation" Now this is a right wing account and it's obvious that the right wing is racist but it's not just the right wing, so are liberals in the exact same way.
When Zohran Mamdani was running and still even now a common response to the "He's an Islamic extremist terrorist who wants to do Sharia law!" (Fun fact Sharia means The law) is "Well look at Rama, she's not dressed in a hijab or niqab so actually he's not an Islamic extremist" which is.... a lot. Now at first glance that statment may sound fine but if you actually investigate it they aren't really disagreeing with the racist person.
"Zorhan isn't an Islamic extremist because his wife dresses in a western style" Is a really bad away to respond to that beasuse now I have to ask, do you think he'd be an Islamist if Rama like Abdel's wife Sarah did wear a hijab? do you think women who wear a hijab or niqab are islamists or more likely to be? In that response is the same argument as the outward racist "Assimilate", it isn't the call for someone to pay their taxes, go to work, take part in their civic duty and live life. It's the call for someone to do all of these things sure but most importantly stop doing that "weird non western thing" it's the common refrain of "They probably don't even speak English" or in a more woke, liberal "feminist" way "Their husband/family/community probably force them to do that".
Now am I saying that "Actually no, no Muslim family or community force women to dress modestly" no but it's also not that simple but if you explain that thing are nuanced and not just black and white "Muslim men bad" liberal "feminists" loose their minds about it. In my experience of being one of those ✨Muslims✨ my family, particularly my dad doesn't actually care if I do or don't wear a hijab and my mom likes it but isn't making news about it, I have friends who only wear a hijab when praying or entering a mosque and others who like me wear it religiously (hehehehe... we have fun around here).
To liberal "feminists" the idea that Muslim women have a choice in their faith is complete madness, that can't understand it because suddenly they have no one to infantilize and feel superior too.

I've seen some tall tales coming out during these TWO DAYS (I still can't believe this is just the start of the year) about how "Venezuelans shouldn't be celebrating" or how you should "Listen to Venezuelans" and I think many leftists (who aren't from countries under dictatorships) who are lecturing Venezuelans should be attempting to see things from their perspective.
I'm Iranian, i've been following everything going on over there and if tomorrow the ayatollah's government collapsed because of the US i'd be celebrating the ayatollah is gone, a lot of my friends and family would be celebrating, people who I hate with a passion (Pahlavi) would be celebrating with me but that doesn't mean i'm blind to the fact that the US didn't do it out of the goodness of it's heart or with Iranians in mind or that things could get worse.
Please do not treat Venezuelans like they are stupid children who think the US is doing this because they all of a sudden think Venezuelans shouldn't be under a dictatorship anymore.
Also DO NOT WHITEWASH GOVERNMENTS OR PEOPLE
