Bye, Tumblr
Welp, I’m probably quitting Tumblr. I’m certainly going to quit posting on this blog, because I have no interest in using a website that won’t even let me reblog a silly video of a guy jumping up and down in a pool with a big floatie because it gets deemed by “the algorithm” as having “adult content”.
I generally find it obnoxious when people announce they’re quitting a social media platform, but it seems helpful in this case so that if someone checks my dead blog 2 years from now they’ll know what happened. That is, if Tumblr still exists 2 years from now, which I doubt it will at this rate. They’ve made a clear and conscious choice to commit suicide and they’ve shown no signs of reversing course.
It’s a giant bummer too because this site has been my main source of fandom stuff, funny stuff, and cute animal stuff for a few years now. I can’t stand having to sift through Reddit to try to find the diamonds in the rough there but it seems like my only choice at this point. My feed here is already super dead and will continue to die off in the coming weeks, as will the frequency with which I bother checking it.
Bye, Tumblr. The people in charge of you are fucking idiots. @staff
