i wanna be frank’s sweet little gf who comes in during lunch time w baked goods for him and the whole ed :(( or sandwiches :(((( and he’s so pleased and proud whenever you come in and he gets to show off how pretty and thoughtful and good to him you are UGH
STOOOOPPP thinking about the first time you show up bc he forgot his lunch :c and you look so lost, like a little lamb with your eyes darting around, not knowing where to go until dana appears and asks sweetly, "ya lost, honey?"
"not really, um, i'm looking for dr. langdon?" it comes out more as a question than a statement.
"oh, sure, come with me," she says, leading you towards the desks in central with a warm hand on your back. she types something on her computer, mouth smacking as she chews on her nicotine gum. she looks at you up and down through her glasses. "you a patient, sweetheart?"
"oh, no, i'm his—"
"baby?" frank appears as if summoned by your mere presence, holding both ends of his stethoscope as he approaches you. he looks relaxed, or as relaxed as someone in the emergency department can look like while on shift, but there's a concerned furrow between his eyebrows. "what are you doing here?"
trinity raises an eyebrow at the pet name from where she's updating her charts behind dana, but decides to keep quiet. she shares a look with whitaker. he shrugs, just as lost as her.
"you forgot your lunch," you mumble, feeling multiple pairs of eyes on you.
you offer frank the glass container and he takes it gratefully. "oh, honey, y'didn't have to come all the way here for that."
"i didn't want you to go hungry," you say, which is actually code for 'i didn't want you to ear the shitty cafeteria food you've complained multiple times about' without coming off as rude in front of everyone.
frank grabs your cheeks and brings you towards him for a quick kiss. you try to play it off, but can't help the stuttering in your heart at the blatant display of affection before his coworkers. in the middle of a shift, no less.
"what's on the menu today, hm?" he asks casually, like he hasn't tilted your world off it's axis.
you blink a couple of times. "just some leftover rice and teriyaki chicken, nothin' special," you shrug. "oh, and a cookie.
"what you mean nothin' special?" frank frowns. "this is lunch made by my beautiful girl, don't sell her short." he wraps an arm around your shoulders and tucks you into his side, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
"yeah, okay. we get it, lover boy," dana scoffs, grabbing a pen from the pocket of her scrub top and clicking it open, raising her head towards the screen hanging high above them. "get back to work or take your lunch break now."
frank grins, amused. his hand rubs up and down your arm, leaving a trail of goosebumps on it's way. "you jealous i have a nice homemade meal and you gotta get somethin' from the vending machine?"
dana rolls her eyes at him "try not to piss me off, i still gotta see your annoying face for another 6 hours."
you worry your lower lip, wondering if you should say something. "there's extra cookies, if y'want," you offer with a shy smile, opening your bag in search of the container with the rest of the cookies you packed just in case.
you leave it on the desk, removing the wooden lid so whoever wants one can grab them with ease.
dana looks appreciatively at you. "huh, a woman after my own heart," she smiles, grabbing a cookie and leaving it next to her keyboard. "y'better treat her right, kid," she points a finger at frank.
frank scoffs. "like i don't do that already." you nod enthusiastically. "see?"dana just shrugs one shoulder and sits down.
"hi, mel," you smile brightly, wrapping an arm around frank's back and resting your weight on one leg. seeing a familiar face makes you finally relax against him. "how's becca?"
"good, she's good," she mumbles, taking a bite off her cookie. "how-how's the costume coming along?"
"costume?" whitaker asks, approaching the desk slowly. he nods at frank, who stares at him intently as he grabs one cookie from the container.
"yeah, we go to the ren-fair together," mel explains, adjusting her glasses.
frank tucks you even closer to him. he's alert, searching for any hint of ridicule in the younger man's eyes. "that's the best cookie you'll ever eat, man," it sounds more like a threat than a compliment to your baking.
you look at frank, bewildered. dennis looks confused for a second, then nods and says, "i'll, uh, take your word for it." he raises the cookie at you with a small smile, thanks you and heads back to where he was charting.
he splits the cookie in half and offering one of the pieces to trinity, knowing she would rather die than approach the two of you.
"ah, look what the cat dragged in," garcia says, typing something on her pager. she tilts her head with a smile, "everything okay, little mouse?"
you sigh. she's never going to let that nickname go, is she?"
"she's fine," frank shrugs her concern off. "just brought me my lunch." his chest puffs out slightly, proud.
yolanda is unimpressed. "grown man can't make himself his food, what a surprise."
frank scowls. before he can something snarky back, you point to the container on the desk. "y'want a cookie?"
"no can do, little mouse, i got an emergency heart surgery in 5 minutes. it was nice seeing you out of the house though!" she says, walking away.
"don't mind her, she's just jealous her situationship doesn’t make her any nice food!" he shouts loudly for her to hear.
trinity ducks her head, chewing a small bite off her half of the cookie. it is rather good, she praises you in her mind, reluctantly.
