Evan was slowly running out of tears to cry and emotions to share, and as he did, he let the pillow fall from his face and relaxed. It was strange for him to cry, so he always did so much harder and much longer than the average person, and then he’d bottle it up for a long time. “I fully believe everything I’ve done has lead to him. Is that stupid? It feels really stupid?” There were plenty of things that wouldn’t have lead to Teddy, but Evan didn’t care. “Oh please, if it’s boring but feels good, we both know you’re going to act into it, cum, and then kick them out,” he nodded, “They did. They were happy, of course, made no real note of me saying I’m gay, but I didn’t expect them to…and it felt good. Really good.”

As the pillow fell from his face, Lily reached up to wipe away any stray tears that might still be falling. She knew Evan almost as well as she knew herself. She knew how often he would bottle up his own emotions. For once, though, seeing him cry wasn’t making her emotional. She was happy to see him emotional like this. “No. It isn’t stupid. I think the universe has a plan for all of us, and I think Teddy is completely part of that. He’s in your life for a reason.” She leaned in to kiss his forehead once again. As she pulled away, she couldn’t help but laugh. “Hey. There might be one I keep around for more than that.” She let her hands rest on the pillow that sat on his lap. “Do you have any plans to have him meet your parents?”

she hated it in here. it was constricting, to say the least, and mj was still left full of confusion following doom’s halloween party. her back was leaned against the wall of her cell with her knees pulled tight to her chest. it was cold and uncomfortable, and mj was clueless as to when doom would let them go. right now, all she wanted was to see-- “peter!” mj bounced to her feet and moved as close as her cell would allow her too. “you have no idea how happy i am to see you. i mean, i’m always happy to see you, but i’m really happy to see you today.”

“i wish you had your powers. maybe you could break me out of here,” she joked. mj was thankful to have snapped out of whatever awful spell she had been under during the party. she was thankful to see stephen. “i hope he knows i don’t really know anything. i didn’t take any of his stupid items.” her arms were crossed over her chest, mimicking her frustration. “how are your hands though? are you doing alright?” she softened a bit, the frustration seeming to disappear as she turned to face him. “it does suck in here, but it’s making it a bit better to see a familiar face.”

RJ

“They’re getting better luckily. It doesn’t hurt to walk anymore which is great.” RJ doesn’t think survival in this new world would be possible otherwise. He doesn’t like attending school though, but it was probably better than a regular job. He wasn’t ready to face that kind of authority yet. His heart just wasn’t in it. The dictator aspect makes him uneasy, feeling too familiar to some of the lectures he heard from his handler over the years. “I’m happy for you. I’m just taking some classes which is weird. I’ve never been in a school before so I don’t know how I feel about it yet.”

“i’m glad to hear. you know if you need anything you can always come find me.” mj wanted to be a helping hand when she could. even if it was putting and ice pack on a bruise. she frowned, however, when rj explained he’d never been to school. if mj remembered correctly, rj was handed over to his handler around the time he should have gone to school. “i’m surprised your handler never sent you to any school. but you’re getting to go to school now. it’s weird, i’m sure. you seem like a smart kid, though. i’m sure you’ll do great. if you’re taking any science classes, i can help you if you need it.”

EDDIE

“Aw come on, where’s your sense of fun?” Eddie groaned. “Yeah, he hates mockery, that’s exactly why we should do this. Keep him distracted and off his game. I’m sure he has an evil plot, you just know it.”

Sighing, he folded his arms, knowing that he wasn’t going to win this one. “Okay, then. So what’s your bright idea? Just … go with it?”

We could eat him, Venom piped up.

“No,” he hissed. “First we gotta get close enough to him, and I don’t think even you’re able to do that right now.”

“my sense of fun doesn’t involve us getting locked up our first week.” slightly offended, mj leaned back with her arms crossed over her chest. “i can have fun. i swear i’m actually fun.” 

mj did crack a smile though once she realized she won. “for now, yes. you have to feel it out a bit. we’ve been here for barely five minutes. how about we grab something to drink, maybe coffee, and we can sit out on this bench and watch. that way, you’re learning about what’s going on around you.”

her eyes followed the bot as it eased past them. “besides, those things look like they might be dangerous.”

KAINE

“You don’t need to apologize. You should be able to express those things.” Kaine would never want someone he cares about to pretend that they weren’t anything other than happy — life isn’t like that from what he learned. “I’d love some.” He doesn’t really drink it that often, but wouldn’t mind trying whatever flavor would be served. He pushes his fingers over his head, pulling his hair out of the messy bun so the brunette strands fall down against his shoulders. The bag of food is set on the table, and he pulls it out. “I’m finding happiness, yeah, I think I found my place in the world here with all of you. We’ll have to all get together for dinner or something since BEN AND I live next door.”

“no, i need to apologize. i shouldn’t take anything out on you.” change was always something mary jane adjusted to rather quickly. however, here, it was different. she felt stuck. she pushed the coffee cup over to kaine. “normally, i go for tea, but every now and then i get a craving for it.” mj’s hair was still pulled back tightly. every since she started working in chemistry, she rarely let her hair down. “i’m really glad to hear that. that really makes me happy.” she flashed kaine a smile before reaching for the food he had brought them. “i’m sorry you were brought to us like this, but i turned out to be such a good thing. it’s nice having you two so close. i’m just glad we all made it here alright.”

JOHNNY

“none of this could have possibly gone unnoticed.”

Johnny leans over the countertop, looking over at his friend with a smile. He pushes the cup of coffee he prepared for her if MJ wanted it of course. “YET it did go unnoticed. I don’t like the way it all makes me feel — constantly uneasy. I haven’t been coping well with a lot of this. I hope you’re adjusting better than I HAVE.” He says with a weak chuckle, taking off his apron since his shift was over soon anyway. [ @maryjaneakamj· ]

mj rarely drank coffee, but she had been deprived of it for months now. she didnt hesitate to pick the cup off the counter. “thank you,” she said, cupping her hands around the cup. “is it the whole powers thing? is it making you feel funny?” she was worried about her friend, and she wasn’t entirely sure how this could affect johnny. “do you want to talk about it?” she offered, leaning on the counter with her elbows. “i’ve got some snacks and halloween movies back at my apartment once you get out of this place if you want to come hang out for a bit.”

“i’m surprised you’re conscious right now.”

It was a surprise for RJ too because this was all a major lifestyle adjustment. He has never been to an actual school before so it was overwhelming actually. His body was still healing from those injuries he took from that strange hallucination of his handler. Which makes sleeping uncomfortable me sometimes with the location of the massive bruises. “I don’t really sleep much these days.” He admits with a slight smile. He doesn’t know how it was possible to sleep for only five hours before going to class, but the boy does it. “I’m always tired though. UH — how are you holding up?” [ @maryjaneakamj· ]

“how are you bruises? are they looking better?” she was still worried about him after finding him in such a state a few weeks ago. mj hoped he was doing well. “i don’t think any of us do anymore. i doubt i ever slept properly in the jungle.” mj was happy to finally have chemistry books back in front of her and to actually be researching in a lab again. “i’m doing alright. if it weren’t for the whole dictator thing i might actually like this place. i’m back in the lab though so i really can’t complain too much. what about you? how are you?”

PETER

“nah, just have a bit of a headache,” peter explained as he opened the lid to the pill bottle and let a few of the pills spill into his hand. he pops one in his mouth and dumps the rest back into the bottle before taking a swig of water to help it go down. “probably no hello kitty ones. i feel like it’s either normal band-aids, or band-aids with his face on them. everything’s so… doomy.” he shrugged, chuckling as he held the bottle out to his girlfriend. “suit’s already in retirement, babe. even if i wanted to wear it or change it so i could wear it, i don’t have it. they took all that stuff away – ‘cept captain america. only he’s captain latveria now.” he shuddered. “what about your hair? i mean, it’s red. are you gonna have to change your hair?”

“i still refuse to buy the normal ones. too boring.” she takes the bottle from peter, tossing one of the pills into her mouth. “i don’t understand letting cap stay a hero but taking it away from you guys. how’s the whole tingle thing going? your powers--i’ve heard some talk about no one’s working right.” mj shrugged, grabbing a section of her hair and holding it out. “i hope not. i’ve never dyed it. but i was thinking blonde if i have to. kind of similar to johnny’s hair. i’m not dying it until mr. doom--or whatever his name is--makes me do it.” she frowned, thinking about how she’d look without the red hair that she grown to love so much. her expression quickly changed, though, when she remembered she had a small surprise for peter. “i have a surprise, but i don’t think i can wait until we get there. i got us our own little space. it’s one bedroom and has plenty of room for sandwich and us.” she reached out, squeezing peter’s hand. “i meant to ask you before i got it, but i just was so excited for us to finally have our own place again.”

TONY

Tony froze in the middle of pulling off the protective shirt that he had been modelling. Doom had said ‘no suits’, so… he’d obeyed the letter of that law, but that didn’t stop him from working on his own little projects. 

Bulletproof and Doom bot proof clothing that was actually fashionable? Yes, you could thank Stark Tech. 

“For avoidance of doubt, you mean the clothing, right? Not…” He pulled the shirt back on. “Because I’m flattered, but I’m also seeing someone.”

tony’s tech never failed to fascinate her. the protective suit was brilliant--especially with these doombots running around. doom may of said no suits, and it was no surprise tony was finding a way around that rule.

“of course tony,” she chuckled. “i’ve got peter and you have stephen. i’m very happy for you, by the way.” she walked over to him, glancing over the protective shirt. “these look really good. you’d never know it’s bulletproof. it’s like a super suit, but a little less super hero-y.”

“i wonder if those robots are hooked up to a mass system. i’d love to know if there’s a way to sneak in a shut them down. or, you know, cause a minor malfunction. nothing too serious.” she doubted that was the case, but mj was curious as to how these things actually worked.

BEN

Ben followed MJ’s lead away from the gun-wielding guards. (Doombots? Probably Doombots. He hadn’t gotten a good look at anything above the guns, but they were usually Doombots around here, and he didn’t particularly want to be shot.) He wanted to just blast them, but that wasn’t an option, and with spider sense was out of commission, he had to rely on a general basic sense of fear, like a normal person.·

He slid into a seat across from her, his fingers drumming nervously on the table.·“No dinosaurs, yes evil robots. And guns. Why do they all have guns, MJ?” He exhaled, slumping back into his seat, and ran a hand through his hair.·“But I don’t have to share a room with Kaine now, which is arguably even better than the whole no dinosaurs thing.”

mj rested her hands on the table and laid her chin on top of them.·“i don’t understand the need·for guys with guns patrolling the streets. it makes me nervous.” mj wasn’t sure how these things were programmed, or if they were set to go off to certain commands or words. you could never be too careful.

“is it nice to have your own space?” she wondered, hoping to change the subject.·“before my mom moved us to queens, me and my sister were constantly·sharing rooms. i was so happy when i got my own.” mj sat up a bit, watching the bots ease past the window.·“you know you’re always welcome to come to me and peter’s place whenever.”

KAINE

“hash your shit out on your own time, okay?”

Kaine was just TIRED, never having worked in his short life, and maybe complaining wouldn’t get him anywhere. “I apologize. I honestly did come over here to see you.” They haven’t spent time together since coming through the rift, and the clone remembers what he DID come over to say. “I just wanted to thank you for showing so much kindness back when we were in the jungle. It really made a difference — the things you said to me.” He holds up a bag full of some food picked up on his way home. “You hungry?” [ @maryjaneakamj· ]

mj didn’t mean to snap at him. she’d been in the lab all day, and her attempts at a nap had failed miserably. “no, i’m sorry. i guess i should take my own advice. do you want tea?” mj already had a kettle on her stove top. mj hadn’t seen much of kaine since the rift, and she was happy to still have him here with them. “kaine, you don’t have to thank me for that. i was just being truthful with you. you do deserve happiness, and i hope you’re finding it.” mj smiled, reaching out to give his hand a squeeze. “actually, yes. i don’t think i’ve had much to eat all day.

erik didn’t know the girl very well, but he’d seen her around enough to know that she could hold her own despite being only a human. raising a brow at her words, he couldn’t hide the subtle smirk that crossed his lips. “as if those that were in charge are trying impossibly hard to be the very best and most noteworthy, yes i agree.” he turned his gaze onto her and gave her a quick glance over before sighing, “i’m erik, and i’d tell you that i’ve lived through a dictator or two, but this is by the strangest.”

mj glanced over at the man beside her. she recognized him from their time in the savage lands, and found it a bit comforting to have a familiar face here. so far, everyone seemed to of made it through the rift. “it’s not new york, but at least it’s somewhat of a decent change.” she shrugging, searching for some light in the situation. “i’ve got to say, i’m not a fan of those bot things.” mj flashed him a smile. “mary jane. pleasure to meet you, erik. you said you’ve lived through dictators before? this guy seems a bit childish to me. it’s a bit silly to ban beards, don’t you think?”

“no, it might get you into trouble.” mj tossed the can of spray paint into a nearby trashcan. “i think one thing this guy hates is mockery. good thing is thought he lifted the red ban. glad i didn’t actually dye my hair.” mj crossed her arms over her chest before turning to face eddie. “i know it sucks around here, but you can’t exactly go around doing all of that. i doubt whatever sort of detention facility he has around here is nice.”

mj held the banana in her hand as she waited at the end of the shop for her tea. “i wish you would’ve told me that sooner,” she teased. “i just used actual money. i’ll have to try and buy something with this.” mj wasn’t quite sure what to make of their new home. “i miss new york. this place is so--strange. on the bright side, i can actually get tea here. i wasn’t sure how long i’d make it out there without it.”
