DM: At the foot of this mound of dripping, almost wriggling around in pure wrath, this ichor that's oozing out of him, and some sort of leak, you can see it now, like a small, small crack in the egg that is fused into the center of the sternum.
Bizly: Okay. I'll just. I'll take the coin again and I'll hold it up to him if he can- I can see him right?
DM: Yeah, you would assume he can't see you or hear you with the tentacles going out of his orifices, but you can try.
Bizly: I look up at him, and I can tell that he can't see or hear me, right?
DM: Yeah, maybe he would be able to feel you.
Bizly: I hold the coin, and I just, I look up at him, and I say:
Chip: Be loud, be merry, be pirates! You taught me that, you all taught me that! You have to remember!
DM: Yeah. You shout this out, and do you take any actions? Do you move?
Bizly: I don't move... I maybe just slam into the darkness, just pounding on it with my fist.
DM: As you do that, the ichor begins to bubble and form around your lower half, and then it begins to crawl up into your arm, and as- if you try to yank it away, now it's starting to pull you in, and your vision starts to slowly fade into black. And for a moment, all it is for you is black. Go ahead, and make... We're gonna say charisma saving throw.
DM: You start hearing the sounds of the ocean, your vision starts to slowly come back, like this... this void, this chaos that you were just in, begins to disappear. You hear the creaks of a ship, and you realize you're standing on... not a dock, but a plank that leads onto a ship, and you know what this is and in front of you is the back of a big goliath, grey skinned. And you stand there, and for a moment you look down, and you have your swords in your hands, but they kinda just fizzle out, and you're not bones, you're just Chip in this moment. And you hear him speak, you haven't heard his voice in so long:
Arlin: How many times this makes now. Hundreds? We keep reliving the same moment. You're gonna try and kill me. And I'm still gonna love you, buddy. You're not gonna change my mind. I'll never, ever, regret pulling you onto this ship, no matter what this place tries to make me believe. You're my son. And you'd never hurt me. C'mon, let's run it back again. I can do this all day.
Chip: You know, some people call it a chip. It's easy mistake to make.
DM: There's a moment of silence, and he begins to turn around.
Arlin: Haven't heard that one before.
Chip: (smiling) I think you have.
Arlin: Kind of a silly name.
DM: And you guys lock eyes. He's relived countless fake versions of this memory, and he doesn't see- You can tell for the first time, he looks at you, he knows this is real. He slowly approaches you, grabs the back of your head, and pulls you into his chest.
Bizly: I don't even that I would hug him back right away, just kinda. Fall into it.
DM: We're going to move back out to where you (gestures to Charlie) are.
Charlie: Why am I crying. Bro that's weird.
Bizly: (giggling) That's crazy.
DM: You are in Arlin's mind at this moment. Gillion?
DM: It is the tentacles' turn
Charlie: Man, you get all the cool, dramatic shit, and he just kicks the shit out of me. [Bizly repeats multiple times, between laugh, "That's so fucked up"] He kicks the fucking shit out of me with the tentacles, he kicks the fucking piss out of me. Alright, whatever. Yeah, let's rock. Let's roll!
Charlie: It's 21 now 'cause you reduced it forever.
DM: The first one still misses. You're still huge though, right?
[immmmm cutting out a bit of them just saying shit here, idc enough]
DM: I just rerolled, except I forgot the die, and I rolled a 3 naturally, which's too low to hit you.
I already transcribed this part in a separate post so go there. This picks back up when we're cutting back over to Arlin & Chip
DM: We cut back over to inside of Arlin's mind.
DM: He has you in this embrace and there's just like a- it's almost hard to get a word out. From either.
Arlin: Do I even wanna know how you got here.
Chip: Probably not. I'm here, it's me
DM: He's- he's massive so he kinda sits down on this little board that leads up to the Midnight Rose. And there's no-one else, it's just you two. He says:
Arlin: Well, tell me about it, tell me how great of a pirate you've become. Most don't make it all the way down here.
Chip: I've got a good crew.
Chip: Jay, she was actually part of the navy, but-
Arlin: Where have i heard that one before.
[both (in character) laugh]
Chip: [She's] Drey's niece. And then, Gillion, Finn's grandson.
Arlin: Strange. Strange how... oh I suppose the fate would pull you together that way.
Chip: I. Brought me here.
Arlin: Sometimes it feels like the goddesses, if they're real, whatever force in the world, is pulling one big prank on us.
Chip: All the time [laughs].
Arlin: Y'know what I always tell you, best thing you can do in moments like these is find a reason to laugh.
Chip: I've... I never stopped.
DM: He leans forward, just kinda puts a hand on you.
Chip: I should- We gotta get you out of here.
DM: You say that, and he winces.
Arlin: Ah. Yeah I can- feel something just hit me (chuckles). Listen Chip. This thing, this thing that's inside this egg we found. I think if it gets out, it's gonna doom the world. Lotta good people. So I've been trying my best to hold on. And not let anyone get close enough to break.
Arlin: To break it or keep the egg open, to let it open any further than what happened...
Chip: Wait why (stammers)- but if you break it it's destroyed, right?
Arlin: What I just felt is probably powerful enough to destroy it but.
Chip: What hap- What happens when it gets destroyed?
Arlin: If it's possible- Y'know while we have the time, I wanna hear more about this crew.
Chip: We got plenty of time we just-
Arlin: How long have you held on to that?
DM: He like looks at the coin in your hand.
Arlin: Sometimes we're just- we're just dealt odds like that. Sometimes you pick heads and you win, other times it lands on tails. I don't want this thing getting out into the world, my boy, and this- whoever is out there, trying to destroy it, i think they might, and it's gonna take me with it.
DM: Looks like he's trying to be that figure that is like..
Bizly: I know what he's trying to do.
Bizly: I think at this point if I know that breaking the egg is gonna kill him, I would just get up from where I am, and just say:
Chip: We have to stop it then because Gillions gonna it, we thought that would be the only- Gillion!
DM: Your voice like echoes in the sea.
Bizly: Just yell out couple more times.
Arlin: Chip. Settle down m-
Chip: It has to- Has to be a way. Gillion, please!
Arlin: Settle down boy, sit down.
Chip: Why are you so calm about this?
Arlin: I'm not finished talking to you. All right, it's. Look, I. I think if it comes down to it, and you can really destroy it, even if it takes me, we have to. Right, because if you have asked this, just to save me, then that thing gets released. I know what I'm asking is impossible. Hell, if I were you, I wouldn't want it to happen either.
Bizly: I'll just go back, and sit down, and then...
Arlin: So you can go back out there, if you want, and you can fill him in on the options, because they're not great, or. We can spend this time.
Bizly: I think, pretty immediately I'd get up and start to rush over to where I could leave, and just before I'd leave I'd stop.
DM: Yeah if you run off the plank, you can feel that you can leave this, like you can exit that way.
Chip: There's Earl. He's an old guy, really likes juice, and every time we land somewhere we have to go and get him some kind of fruit, and he smashes it with his feet. [Arlin laughs at that]
DM: He lets out like a big hearty laugh at that one.
Chip: We found Finn's book. [Grizzly laughs at that one] Me and his grandson.
Chip: We got stuck reading it.
Chip: He read it outloud to me, I don't think he understood all the words. I did. [chuckles]
Bizly: I'll turn back around, just walk back to him.
Chip: There's Ollie. He's this little kid, he just got stowed away on a ship, we took him on, and i tried to make my own little Chip, and it was not. very good. I got him hurt, and then did everything I could to fix it, but you fix one thing, ten other things break, it's just one thing after another. Alphonze, he's a cowboy robot? And then he became our ship.
Arlin: Ran into a few of those.
Chip: We have a ship. I had a ship, it was called The Big Chipper, it was. kinda the best ship there was. But then we got a better one. It's called The Albatross. And! And we have a flag! Check this out.
Bizly: And I wanna, do I- can I get a dagger, is there a dagger?
DM: Sure, yeah. You've got it.
Bizly: I just wanna carve it, carve the symbol into the wood, and show him.
Chip: Up here is like, okay so Gillion has, it's like a coral so that's for Gillion, and then the wings are for Jay, and then there is a chip in the skull cuz' [gestures] okay.
Chip: And we're called, wait for it- The Riptide Pirates.
Chip: Yeah. But we're all captains, but I'm like the most captain.
Arlin: (fondly) Is that so?
Chip: Yeah. And then, and then okay, there's Queen um, they're cursed, and they have to sing most things, and like can't stop singing all the time, hugeee problem, but it's kinda fun.
Arlin: There's an island of people like that.
Chip: Well that's probably good to know, actually.
Chip: Um, Gryffon, he's a bounty hunter.
Arlin: They have those now?
Chip: He's a panda. Big panda man. And then-
Arlin: Ah, I think I remember a village filled with panda folk.
Chip: Might be where he's from, and then... Drey! I mean he's with us.
Arlin: So some of them survived.
Chip: They both did. Although, uh, Finn was a bird, for a while. We called him Apple, also thought he was a girl.
Arlin: That crazy old fart. Pretty sure his magic is the only reason they made it out.
Chip: (chuckling) He's nuts, he's nuts.
Arlin: That's even more reason why there's gotta be a world to live in.
Chip: I know, I just don't want you to go.
Arlin: Oh, you're a captain now, what's it mean to be a captain, I never quite made it to that rank.
Chip: Means making hard decisions. Even when it hurts. Looking out for your crew. You can still be on it! We could figure something out.
Arlin: It's a high price to pay. The world for our little crew. I won't tell you what to do, but...
Arlin: I had- We had our time.
Chip: There were so many times I just wanted you to tell me what to do. I just wanted you to be there. And laugh when I did something stupid. And I was mad that you weren't. You made me. You gave me my name, a home. (deep sigh) I wanna walk out there so bad. (sobbing) I can't, I can't I know I can't.
DM: He grabs your hand, that has the coin.
Arlin: I'm here now. We're here now. It's gonna be alright. 'Cause I can see it, I can see that you're gonna be... You're gonna be better, you're gonna have great- great goddamn adventures and stories to tell. You're gonna make people laugh. You're gonna take care of your crew, 'cause that's what a captain does.
Arlin: You're gonna live. And everyone else is gonna live.
Chip: Thanks. For being my dad.
Arlin: I wish I could've seen more. But thank the waves that I was able to do enough, to be so proud of who I see in front of me right now.
Arlin: It is. Being on the sea. There's no-
Chip: -place I'd rather be.
DM: Are you gonna stay in this mental memory.
DM: Or are you gonna leave and try...
DM: Okay. You're not leaving.
Bizly: I'm just gonna take what I can get.
andddd the very end is in the gillion post again
