My current "for funsies" project is learning how to paint backgrounds in a better, more consistent manner. As in, actually focusing on learning how to do them instead of just...throwing metaphorical spaghetti at the wall.

Day 1 (the bright, vibrant one) I was feeling pretty good. I felt like I learned some good stuff and despite it really not looking very...finished, I was still proud of it.

Day 2, I wanted to stab something. Or scream. I must have started and restarted the piece a million times. At first, I was using some pictures of Virmire for reference. Nothing I put down came out right. The grass was never green enough, the sky wasn't blue enough, just a lot of negative thoughts piling onto each other.

So I gave up on that and did what you see above. I do actually like it. Maybe I'll try Virmire again tomorrow.
