Ah yes, that was the reaction he wanted to see. A gleeful grin and a faint blush. Perfect! He loved when people were enjoying his tricks and he loved it even more when they also liked his little friend. His bird was one of his best friends, even if people would laugh at him, he loved his little friend a lot. 

Was it awkward that he understood exactly how she felt? No, not at all. What for others seemed to be weird was normal to him and what others considered normal was weird to him. “Amazing! Your love for birds is truly amazing! Such a wonderful thing! That I am able to hear this with my very own ears, this is truly a wonderful day!” 

Hearing the praise and her acknowledging his work, oh, he couldn’t be happier. Wataru had learned those tricks since his childhood, showing them again and again and when people grew tired of his tricks he would learn another one to impress them again. He had done this all the time, and being praised like this, it was rare, and made him happy. It was hard to hide his bright smile. Oh, Leah really was a kind person. He could be lucky that he met her!

The long haired boy bowed down gratefully before he took his bird back. “I am honored to hear such wonderful words from you, Leah. They fill my heart with joy and happiness. I cannot express my gratitude. Ah, how do I call this?” he paused before he walked a few steps ahead, stretching out both arms while smiling. “Amazing!!”

His gaze wandering off to the sky as the dove flew away and return just an minute later. Good training was his secret for this trick. Where he kept his fluffly white friends until they were to be released? That was a secret, just one of the many secrets a magician like Wataru had. 

However, it was surprising, even for Wataru to get such a request. She wanted to hold the dove? Really? It took an moment for him to proceed, no one had ever asked that. Normally people would get scared or scold him but he didn’t mind at all. And with the smile, better said amused grin, returning to his features he nodded. 

“If that is what the lady desires I am the last to refuse.” He said, laughing. “Then, Leah, please take care of my friends there.” with an simple snap of his fingers the dove jumped over on Leah’s hand. Yeah, this was definitely unexpected for Wataru, yet fulfilling his duty as an entertainer he gladly let his bird friend get into contact with her. 

“May I ask if birds are what you like? If so, my friend will happily let you hold him as long as you want. He is a well experienced actor after all! Amazing! Isn’t it?” And there he goes: living up to everyone expectations of him being an loud and simply eccentric person. Both arms on his body he suddenly raised them into the air, letting rose petals fly around. Yes, he lived for those of things, even if others would call him annoying. “Let us share love and surprises with everyone as the world is filled with many surprises! Fuwhahaha~”

He was fickle, elusive and clearly lived in his own world. So, finding himself in trouble, even if it was rare, was more of an adventure, another play for the oddball and so he didn’t mind any trouble he was getting into, as long as he didn’t end with detention. But he could tell that the young woman who would help him was not one to back away because his first impression.

“Amazing! As I am now, I have but my one body. I have no tricks or devices up my sleeves!” Wataru raised both arms a bit to show he wasn’t lying. And then, he folded his hands, chuckling before he released an white dove from his hands. “Oya! Another surprise!”

Oh? Was he able to catch her interest? As he followed the boy nodded in response, a bright smile decorating his lips. That was true, a vampire. Although his friend Rei wasn’t a true vampire. If Rei said he was one Wataru would simply go along. One must keep the play alive. “That is because a friend of mine is a vampire, my lady.” he chuckled amused. “A very old one who’s strength weakens when being in the sunlight! The world is filled with Amazing and wonders! But do not worry, Leah-san, the vampire does not bite.”

Only now he noticed that where they were walking was a beautiful city. He may lived in his own world of plays and magic but when being on his own even Wataru could appreciate such simple thing as a city shining in the lights of its lanterns.

It was considered something similar to a miracle that the young woman had decided to accompany him and Wataru knew that. With his inhuman level of stamina and his character he could be very exhausting. The boy lived for surprises, love and even for attention of others. That was the reason he started with magic tricks yeas ago.

Watching her taking the rose, Wataru’s smile grew wider, into an amused grin. “Fufufu, were you surprised? You were surprised, were you not!? You raised your voice in surprise and delight! That is the face that I wanted to see!I enjoy surprising others very much! It is my purpose in life!” She didn’t seem to be annoyed or scared by this kind of tricks! Certainly, this would be a fun time, he thought and she started to laugh, he tilted his head despite knowing the reason for her laughing. Yes, his introductions were always dramatic, awkward and people wondered as to why he would give himself all those names when some of them weren’t even as positive as he considered them.

“Ten men will call one thing ten ways. Ways of naming that are full of love, or mischief born of love. For that very reason, I shall gladly accept every name!”

“Leah it is then.” He bowed shortly before following her. And while he gazed around he couldn’t hold back a laugh. His classmates must be either worried or happy that he is gone. Rei and Kanata would probably worry. And maybe the latter was lying in the bathtub while the other would wander through the city as well? The setting sun was like a blessing to his friend. “As you wish, I will follow until the end of time! Amazing! There are so many things I haven’t seen! I do wonder if my favorite vampire is out in town as well~”

Taken aback, Wataru let out a gasp, soon covering his open mouth with one hand. Others would call his behavior overdramatic however, he was an actor and every kind of scenery was a stage for the student. And who could have expect such kindness from a young lady who’s not too familiar with Kyoto as well? Surprises and love were indeed inseparable!

“Oya~ It surely is dangerous to be out at night. I am quite scared to walk around, on the quest to find my beloved friends.” He said amused. His words didn’t fit his actions, he should have looked scared at least. “What a wonderful of yours! Amazing! I am truly moved by your kindness, my lady~ Your very own Hibiki Wataru should thank you with an appropriate way!” Appropriate or not, Wataru stretched out his obviously empty hand only to let an beautiful rose appear which he quickly handed the young woman. Magic tricks, no matter the place and time, he couldn’t live without them.

“Please excuse my humble self but would my lady please tell me her name? I am your very own Hibiki Wataru. You may call me Hibiki, or Wataru-kun, pervert, eccentric, oddball, deviant, or whatever you like. I do not mind. I shall gladly accept every name!”

Gaku was given orders to scope out some local talent. The place he was going today? A high school by the name of Yumenosaki with a focus on male idols. There weren’t many schools like this so the premise itself interested him. How do they fit being an idol and schoolwork into the curriculum? He wondered. His mission here was to check up on them and see if they even had any real skills. Of course since the demand originally came from his father he was very suspicious of it but after arguing with him about it he still ended up going regardless. He’ll see just what this place has to offer and whether or not he tells his father everything is up for debate.

It seemed there weren’t any sort of lives scheduled today but instead a play by the drama club. Close enough. He’d sit and watch to see just what this was about. He quickly secured a seat in the front row and tried not to draw attention to himself.

A loud voice caught him by surprise as a student with long hair and a mask covering the top portion of his face began talking loudly, and in an eccentric manner. This is certainly no ordinary school if they have someone like this. Putting that aside, the boy had said it was a light-hearted comedy, will there be singing? And who is Ryuseitai? Is that a unit? Does this school allow students to form units with each other? That would make the most sense, it’s best to get used to being in a unit if you choose to continue on with this career. Gaku sat back in his chair. He chose to ignore the wink since it was either that boy’s personality or some sort of stage persona. For now he would watch the show and see what this school had in store.

Fickle and elusive was his behavior, on stage and away from the stage, the time and the place didn’t matter to him. Everything and everywhere was the perfect stage for an eccentric performer like Wataru. With the grand stage being located in Yumenosaki’s very own auditorium everything was easier, for the rest of the drama club’s members, as they performed in an already familiar place. Nonetheless, as the president of the drama club and multi-talented student he would not let anyone make mistakes up on stage.

However, the young man in the front row had caught his interest for some reason. He had this special aura that drew people closer, or so would Wataru call it. Unlike himself, who usually scared away everyone within the first day of interaction. Even during their performance he gazed at the guy, for him this was not distracting as he could easily keep performing several roles while watching a person who had caught his interest. Maybe he had some time after their play to catch him and get into a nice conversation. He doubted this plan would fail, Wataru had many methods to get what he wanted, even if he had to appear like a ‘human jack in the box’. Surprises were what he loved the most. 

Gratitude displayed in an bow, waving and showing the greatest smiles to the audience ended the stage play. The applause, loud and even filled with a little laughter, it was wonderful! Attention the long haired boy always desires, accepts gratefully and uses it to perform even better. There was almost nothing he loved more than this! “Everyone, let’s have another round of applause for the amazing actors of the Drama Club and Ryuseitai! That’s wonderful! Please enjoy the rest of your day here at the school festival……☆”

Luck wasn’t on his side as he really was lucky enough to ask the wrong person. Oh, what to do now? Going on, asking another person, ah yes, this was impolite when the young woman was so kind to offer help despite not being from here as well. Such kindness was rare in this time, especially when someone as odd as Wataru was the one asking for help. Ah but what about giving her the address already? He seemed to have forgotten it. Not listening to the teacher, just goofing and talking around with his fellow classmates, he surely felt regret bubbling up in his chest now. 

“As I would love to name the address of the hotel I seem to have been careless as my teacher had spoken.” The oddball answered, laughing a little. Something new for him in this moment, he somehow felt embarrassed. But just another feeling he would grew fond of with a little time. “Amazing! It seems like this Hibiki Wataru has to wander around in town for the night!” He should have been more worried about his situation but the long haired male simply considered it another adventure on his class trip. “I shall accept the trial and do my very best~♪”

“Ladies a~nd gentlemen! Thank you for waiting. The play you have waited for will begin shortly......☆ The play you’ll be seeing in a moment was prepared just for the school festival of Yumenosaki Academy!” Wataru exclaimed, dramatic theatrical speech as always. One arm outstretched, smile wide as he faced the audience with violet sparkling eyes beneath a colorful mask, only one of the hundreds he collected and the shining, detailed costume handcrafted by one of his dear friends. While everyone got ready for the play, fixing the last details of their costumes, rereading their text and wishing each other luck to calm themselves, the third year entertained the audience with his speech. 

“As such, we brought in special guest actors, the amazing members of Ryuseitai as the heroes of our wonderful performance! Our play is a lighthearted comedy, and I guarantee it will have all of you rolling on the floor laughing ♪” He sung the last words with pleasure and excitement in his voice. Ah, the audience, their sparkling faces when they gazed upon stage, the actors of the drama club giving their best to perform and shine. Wataru lived for those moments!

“Now then, that’s enough out of me! Please sit back and enjoy the show of Yumenosaki’s Drama Club and grand them an applause as the curtain rises~♪” The oddball bowed, a last gaze at the audience and winking at one of the guests in the front row. He hadn’t seem this guy before but he was sure to make him laugh. He promised that, silently as he winked at him, the bright smile on his lips never fading. “It’s show time~”

Human Jack-In-The-Box, that’s what some students had called him when they met him for the first time. No doubt, that he was really one. Or as he called it, love and surprise are hardly separated. Bringing surprises and love to his fellow students was what Wataru loved, though many did not understand the way he displayed his love: with magic tricks, dramatic speech and many surprises, randomly releasing birds was only one of his tricks.

“Bibbidi bobbidi boo~” The oddball sung quite happily, and placed both hands on the shoulders of the others. He loved surprising people from behind and so did he this time as well. “Oya!! Isn’t this the new transfer student-chan? What an amazing coincidence! It is a pleasure to meet you, transfer student-chan. I am your very own Hibiki Wataru from class 3-B!” Once Wataru started talking he wouldn’t stop so easily. A laugh, followed by an grin as he let go of the new student. “I see you like wearing the new girls uniform. How wonderful! If you are interested in such cute clothes you should visit the Drama Club! I can show you an a-ma-zing~ amount of cute costumes!! Fuwhahaha!!”

The last year of school always meant a lot of exciting things. Not only were exams to be written at the end of the year, the students also had lots of other things to care for. Their clubs, their friends in the other classes, making sure the next year’s senior would be greeted by an chaos left behind from former students. Well, they could argue about the chaos since everything knew the class 3-B was a group of chaotic students. One could call it a miracle that a teacher had agreed to accompany them and class 3-A to an three days trip to another part of Japan. Exciting! He has never been to Kyoto before!

May it be the unknown environment, the time of day, evening could be quite troublesome in an unknown city, or the fact that Wataru had totally walked off the group and got lost due to many interesting things that caught his attention whenever the group leader wouldn’t watch him. But the student was lost. Nonetheless he laughed it off, walking around to find his way back, he may have looked like a lost child here and then when he called for his friends. He would have called one of them, if his phone wouldn’t have died on him during the day. Taking photos of funny things, yeah, he shouldn’t have done that. And so he was forced to ask people for the way. At least this didn’t bother him as someone who loved the attention of others. When he spotted a young woman, he decided to ask her! It would be easier to ask the young ones, right?

“Please excuse my humble appearance suddenly crossing your way, my lady, but would there be a way you could lead me back to an hotel near the older parts of the city. I seem to have lost orientation in this unknown habitat.”

a noise of surprise was released as the birds were released , hands coming up as if to guard himself from them. ❛ n - ngh! where do you even keep those!? ❜ he questioned , folding his hands down as he rolled his eyes. he drew in a huff of air as he turned away from the third year , teeth clicking together to show his annoyance. ❛ i eat plenty , and im strong enough! ❜ he insisted , one hand dropped to press into the crease of his hip. ❛ he has no reason to worry about me! ❜

Amused was his laugh as he watched the smaller student in such an defensive stance. His beloved birds were well trained, they would never attack such an adorable face. Finger placed on his lips Wataru chuckled. “That, little princess, is a secret a magician can’t reveal. It would ruin the surprise, wouldn’t it?” Another chuckle escaped him. “The Emperor always worries about princess. Amazing! His Majesty’s love for the princess does not know limits! What a wonderful thing to be a spectator of. I, your very own Hibiki Wataru, is moved by so much love!”
