A tournament for most iconic/ beloved mask-wearing characters!
Rules:
Preferably, the mask is narratively significant to the character, but this isnāt a super strict rule
Helmets count, if they serve the same purpose as a mask (e.g. the Mandalorian)
Multiple characters can be submitted, but please only submit each character once
No real people
Keep competition friendly! Propaganda is allowed, good-natured banter is allowed, but any threatening, harassing or suicide baiting will get you blocked, and potentially get your character disqualified
(please be nice to me this is my first time)
No characters from the following medias:
ā¢ Marvel/ DC (there are just too many, sorry š )
ā¢ Mcyt/ any vtuber characters
ā¢ Beastars
ā¢ Harry Potter

(Keep in mind tho I have the right to exclude any particular character/ piece of media if I feel it is inappropriate)
Hi, this is the original mod for @heterochromiasmackdown. Unfortunately my main blog got terminated for seemingly no reason, so I won't be able to post on the original tournament blog unless I can get my account restored. Since it's a sideblog, I guess it's still up and running, and posts are still going up from my queue. I'll let the semi-finals continue to play out over there, but there will be a delay in when the finals will be posted. If it's definitive that I can't get my main blog back, I'll wrap up the tournament here. Hoping this is just temporary, and I appreciate all the support the original heterochromia smackdown competition got!
Welcome to the Element Specific Character Tournament!
This is a tournament is to see which character that specializes in a specific element is the best!
There will be 10 different elements represented in this tournament, and they are:
Pyromancy (fire)
Aquamancy (water)
Aeromancy (wind)
Geomancy (earth)
Phytomancy (plants, vegetation)
Electromancy (lightning, electricity)
Cryomancy (ice)
Ferromancy (metals)
Umbramancy (darkness, shadows)
Luxomancy (light, holy)
There will be 10 different brackets to decide which characters of each element is the best of their respective elements. Then there will be a final showdown of all ten characters to see who is the best overall!
RULES
Be nice and respectful please. I donāt want any insults thrown at anyone.
Characters have to use the element that you submit it as (ex you submit Zuko as a fire character, not a water character).
If the character uses multiple elements, submit them under an element theyāre best known for/most proficient at (ex Soren fire emblem can use multiple elemental tomes, but he is a wind mage and only he can use S rank wind tomes).
You are allowed to submit as many characters as you want but it has to be one form at a time please.
No submitting the same character multiple times please.
Please specify where the character is from and please no acronyms!
Propaganda is allowed and encouraged but no anti-propaganda (aka character hate).
My time zone is EST and I wonāt be active all the time to answer questions (sorry I got real life stuff to do).
There will be certain guidelines on certain characters and media (Iāll get into more detail later) this is because specific media can be weird on how they classify what power is what element. Especially with certain elements being more vague and loosey-goosey.
I donāt particularly mind who you submit as long as they stick to the guidelines, but I might have polls if Iām unsure about a certain character.
Anyways Iāll edit this post as it goes on if more questions are raised.
Elements, Characters, and Media clarifications
Toph is going to be put as a geomancer. I know she invented metal bending but she better known as an earth bender and I donāt want her on both earth and metal brackets.
Since Aang is the avatar, he can use all four bending styles, but he started off as an air bender and the show is literally called āthe last air benderā Iām going to put him under aeromancer.
Korra on the other hand, wonāt be in this tournament at all. Even though she is apart of the water tribe, she doesnāt really have a bending style thatās she more attached to (I mean she was able to do all four bending styles much earlier than Aang).
Todoroki wonāt be in this tournament. His fire and ice powers are basically on the same level of importance.
NO DEMON SLAYER CHARACTERS! The breathing styles arenāt actually summoning elemental powers, itās a visual metaphor.

hiya!!! does the character need to be masked all the time, or does the mask just need to be significant to the character?
like if there was a character who was unmasked for the majority of the storyline, but was still hiding its identity so that people wouldnāt know who/what it was, and would really rather have had its mask so that people couldnāt see the faces it makes, and the mask is a big part of what makes it viewed (by others and itself) as nonhuman, would it still count?

Sorry, if you have answered this before, but have there been many submissions for the masked man of all times, David Bowie's character in 'The Mask'? Because he NEEDS to be part of this, the mask is literally all he is about and it is such an amazing performance! So simple yet haunting.
Unfortunately there seems to only be one so far. I do hope he makes it in!
