The agitation around the library made it hard to see the inside momentarily, but Walker’s body was a horrifying beacon of a display all the same. Once seen, it could barely be unseen.
Celestia’s usually composed face twitched. With this new-found lighting, the top of Walker’s torso looked gruesome beyond what she had ever experienced in her adventurous life. For some reason, she expected a lighter hue of blood trickling down the headless body. And now Alfendi went on speaking, as if he was a much different person from their first interaction together.
It was a most unnatural turn of events. But perhaps not unexpected; and it was undoubtedly interesting. Not exhilariating, but it filled her with anticipation. Like a real sealed room mystery from a detective novel. Or a sealed mansion, it seemed like.
Celestia took a deep breath.
If this was how the rest of the night was gonna be, she could forsake sleeping.
She had to adapt. And play this newfound game. That was the key.
And she had an idea of what to do first.
