I've started watching hannibal about a week ago and I love it, I'm currently watching season 2 (middle). It has such an esthetic cinematography. I'm in awe.

Head over Heels
I did the inktober challenge again this year – I made it till 26 but I’ll finish the series in november though.
I did a “ask me anything” on instagram a while ago. Here are the first few answers – let’s start with the more personal stuff.
How are you? Are you happy? – It’s strange, because I get asked that quite a lot. I guess the most honest answer would be: I’m okay. I mean I’m happy, sad, angry, desperate, overwhelmed, bored, jealous, mad, loud, surprised, in love, heart broken, disgusted, lonely, excited, curious, relieved, frustrated – emotions are some sort of strobe light. they flicker. I don’t know how to say. I think I’m okay.
How old are you? – 26
What’s your favourite season and why? – Autumn, because I love fog and layering clothes! Autumn is all moody but by the moment the sun breaks through the fog and the clouds everything seems golden. For me it’s the season with the most fascinating atmosphere.
You could have any superpower, what would you choose? – Healing :D
Milkshakes or smoothies? – Smoothies – and I prefer sour over sweet.
You had to choose, would you either eat only Hawaiian pizza or penne noodles with sauce for the rest of your life? – I’d go for penne – because I mean I could vary the sauces for the rest of my life, can’t I? And penne is great.
Your inspirations for art? – Music, nature, exhibitions and socializing with people!
Are you going to visit Conventions in Germany/Swiss/Austria? – I’ll be at connichi in Kassel in two weeks. Looking forward to seeing my friends again and making new friends and all the crazy stuff that happens at conventions everytime.
How to befriend other artists? – Actually I have no idea. Maybe it’s not about actually befriending other artists but befriending other people, who are passionate about what they do: musicians, designers or travelers… Everybody has it’s very own way of creativly approaching questions and tasks.
Are you gonna start a YouTube channel? – I’m not very fond of videos… You mean like progress videos and short descriptions of tools? Would that be interesting?
Are you professional painter or do you do anything else for living? – I’m not painting or drawing for a living. I’m a graphic designer who sometimes does illustrations, working in an agency for communication, events and promotion. Drawing and painting is what I love to do – even if it’s just for killing time.
What kind of watercolours and paper do you use? – I own two different brands of watercolours. First one’s schmincke, the very first colours I got when I was 16 years old. Second one is a small one from winsor and newton, which I use while traveling. The paper I use is all hahnemühle, they have a good range of different papers ( and also offer sketchbooks which are ok for different media. I wrote a more detailed description on my tumblog: http://maskenball.tumblr.com/post/144350220758/some-people-asked-about-the-tools-i-use-for
Are you listening to a special kind of music while drawing? – It changes from month to month. Right now it looks somehow like that: “Ted (Bibio Remix)”, Clark “Nishe”, Muse „Supermassive Blackhole“, Muse “Audience No. 2″, Autolux “Love and Mercy”, Gazelle Twin “The Wind”, Doe Paoro, Adam Rhodes “Blue”, Bloom Twins “Skinless - Part 2″, Deco Child “Buho”, Ash Black Bufflo “Daydreaming”, Radiohead “Burn the Witch”, Radiohead “Talkshow Host”, Radiohead „Meds“, Placebo „Every You and Every Me“, Placebo „Come As You Are“, Nirvana „Do I wanna Know?“, Arctic Monkeys „I Wanna Be Yours“, Arctic Monkeys „Velociraptor!“, Kasabian „Vlad the Impaler“, Kasabian „Switchblade Smiles“, Kasabian “La Boite à Musique”, Rhian Sheehan “The Escape”, These Ghosts “Dust it Off”, The Dø “Hey Now”, London Grammar „Nightcall“, London Grammar „Youth“, Daughter „Run Boy Run“, Woodkid “Little Bit”, Lykke Li “Auf und davon”, Casper “Lilablau”, Casper “Brando”, Leyya „Chillin“, CRO „Melodie“, CRO „Rap & fette Bässe“, Beginner „The Man Who Owns the Place“, Balthazar „Fifteen Floors“, Balthazar „Golden Nights“, Eau Rouge
I’m a bit wrecked lately, getting way too passionate about everything. It’s okay, I mean… life’s like that, right?
Komme was wolle.
This year's summer is pretty strange. It's rainy, foggy, stormy and just perfect for some sunday afternoon melancholy. I'd prefer some more light hearted days.
hey :) do you have a particular playlist you listen to while you are drawing?
I always have one, but it changes from month to month. Right now it looks somehow like that:“Ted (Bibio Remix)”, Clark“Nishe”, Muse“Audience No. 2″, Autolux“Love and Mercy”, Gazelle Twin“The Wind”, Doe Paoro, Adam Rhodes“Blue”, Bloom Twins“Skinless - Part 2″, Deco Child“Buho”, Ash Black Bufflo“Daydreaming”, Radiohead“Burn the Witch”, Radiohead“Talkshow Host”, Radiohead“La Boite à Musique”, Rhian Sheehan“The Escape”, These Ghosts“Dust it Off”, The Dø“Hey Now”, London Grammar“Little Bit”, Lykke Li“Auf und davon”, Casper“Lilablau”, Casper"Brando”, Leyya
Some people asked about the tools I use for drawing and painting. I made a tutorial years ago. Maybe it’s not up to date but you can find all colours and brands I use in detail here
The pictures here show nowaday’s version of my pencil case. First one is what I carry with me and second one what I’m actually using… the pencil case is quitd heavy. so after taking those pictures I might be rethinking what I put in there :D there’s also personal stuff in it (yes, top left. Some of my friends and I visiting a photobooth). But I think those kind of things are important, too. anyways! Back to topic. The following descriptions won’t sound really professional and are just my opinion… There are 7 kinds of stuff I’m using, from right to left: - watercolours + brushes - fineliners - pencils - polychromos - markers and stuff - cutters/scissors/… - Not in the picture are inks and pens.
… So basically everything I can use to create lines and shapes.
I’m mostly drawing when I’m on the road. I have no idea why. Maybe because a desk feels like working ;) here are some more details:
watercolours (3rd picture) - brand: Schmincke and a winsor and newton travel set. The schmimcke ones are about 10 years old, it’s fantastic how long you can use them, they’re my starter set ♡ I bought the Winsor and newton set last year for traveling. I like the colours. They seem brighter and cleaner than the schmincke ones. - colours: I love to mix colours myself. That’s why I got different shades of yellow, blue and red. Problem is that the mixed colours are less vibrant then clear ones. So I extended my palette with green, black, brown and violett as well.
Brushes (4th picture) From right to left. - my standard brushes (“da vinci”): they are special warercolour brushes that can carry a lot of water. I got many different sizes over the years. - another watercolour brush with a different shape: love to use it for backgrounds, watering big surfaces or landscapes. It’s quite handy when painting leaves, trees, grass… you can paint thick and thin lines by just turning it. - a brush I bought in japan. It carries LOADS of water and can paint from extremely thin to immensly thick. It’s my favourite brush and also works with ink (painted my inktober series with that one) - three last brushes: love those for traveling. Number one (pentel) has black watercolour in it, number two (pentel) just water and number three (japanese brand I can’t remember, maybe pentel as well)… guess I ruined it with a ink-water mixture but it’s still perfect for painting grey. They’ve never spilled water or ink in my pencil case, seem to be quite safe.
- fineliners: my favourites are the muji pens. they’re quite waterproof and you can draw really smooth and fine lines. It’s a joy to work with them for fast and simple sketches. - pencils: I’m only using mechanical pencils (rotring). They’re maybe as old as my watercolours but for me they’re of personal value. The green one is filled with blue mines and the red one with standard grey HB ones. The blue ones tend to disappear completly while painting (or after scanning) but I really like to still see the sketch as a messy structure behind the final painting. - I use polychromos to deepen the shadows or brighten the colours. They cover perfectly on my watercolour paper so I can use them for highlights as well. - markers and stuff… just any kind of experiment :D - scissors and cutters for my washi tape artwork. Got a really tiny scissor. My thumb almost doesn’t fit through it - ink (deleter number 5) and pen nibs (maru and g-pen) only come to use when I’m working on a short story or a detailed black and white picture. I’m an impatient person, that’s why I stick to sketchy illustrations most of the time ♡ Sketchbooks I’m using a hahnemühle sketchbook (D&S, 140g/qm, black, din a5, portrait, 80 pages). It works pretty well with watercolour and the paper is thick enough for ink or working with washi tape and cutting it. I also love to remove the black cover on the ouside and repaint it with colour, put stickers on it or something. Paper There are four different kinds of papier in my art supply box: - hahnemühle bamboo: vibrant colours - hahnemühle allegretto: good for watercolour effects - lanaquarelle (the one with the orange cover XD): lovely for bright and pastel coloured artwork - deleter comic book paper: for my short stories, works perfectly with my pen nibs (maru and g pen) and inks I hope this answers some of the questions I received here on tumblr lately. As said: it’s only my opinion on that material. I think every artist has a different way of working and will need different tools. I guess the reason why I own that many pens, pencils and markers (… that are not in the pictures shown above) is that I tried a lot before finding my favourites. So shoutout to all the artists out there: keep going and never fear to try something new!
_______ I’ve updated my “Online-Shop” with all latest prints (only shipping in Germany/Austria/Switzerland right now, I’m sorry). I’ve been working on a new character design – she’s supposed to be the sister of the strange boy in the woods from “waldgefluester”. I kind of like to draw them though I normally don’t like to draw fantasy themed illustrations... :D
It’s been ages since my last blog entry. I’m so sorry. I’ll try to keep it more up to date in the future. I’ve been at dokomi in düsseldorf last weekend offering new prints like for example a series of 10 of my inktober drawings or serveral original illustrations. I had such a good time there. Everyone was so kind! It means a lot to me what people say about my illustrations because I’m often personally attached to my drawings. Thank you for coming by my table, for the little chats and for your support! I’ll be updating my online-shop in the next few days with all the new stuff ♡
Inktober sketches 12 - 17! I bought golden ink today. Maybe I can use it for the next ones. To those who asked about the materials I’m using: I’ll be posting a list as soon as possible. Thank you for all of your reblogs and faves on the previous postings! And thank you as well for following my work ♡♡
Here we go - inktober 6 - 11. I'm still enjoying it ♡
I’m participating in inktober this year! I’m really enjoying it so far *^* here are my drawings 1 - 5 Sorry for not posting anything on my tumblog lately. I’ll be updating soon with my two latest projects ♡
Once, I got caught by a tree.
I’m currently working on a printed version of my sketchbook and a little shortstory book. I hope that I’ll be able to finish them before september :D I will try to keep tumblr up to date but I’m way faster on twitter |D so feel free to follow me on instagram or twitter: @fruchtdrop or facebook www.anotheryou.de for the latest updates
Time for a sketchdump! Some studies, experiments and a fanart for sommerwind's and traumholz's shortstory "he's half baked": http://animexx.onlinewelten.com/doujinshi/zeichner/441989/60044/
I'm back home in germany again for a week now. It feels a little bit strange but I guess I just have to get used to it again. I'm trying to draw a lot: different techniques, pose studies, small artwork - to keep going. But right now I just feel like eating strawberries. There. I said it. Feel free to follow me on instagram and twitter: @fruchtdrop
