friendly reminder: in depth analysis of snape’s character is fine. there is no question about him being deeply flawed & i’m down for a good discussion. but if you’re getting out of your way to taint the best of him, stating he was ‘creepy’ or ‘obsessive’ towards lily, or just being plain vile about him because of your personal animosity towards him, please do me a favor and unfollow.
severus snape turned against voldemort, because he wanted to change. he wanted to be a better person after he was consumed with guilt for contributing to lily’s death.
she had been his best friend, and he loved her in the purest sense because she was the first person who taught him empathy and love as a child, ( which he found none of both in his household growing up, ) and most likely last person to show him that. she inspired him towards good, and through that eternal appreciation of who she was, he guided harry with his patronus.
