After Julian had made himself clear on Thanksgiving when heâd ghosted her, Trinity had put her foot down for her own sake and stopped trying altogether. If opening up to him the way she had hadnât made any progress, then what was she waiting around for? Sheâd put it down to her own feelings getting in the way of the truthâ that heâd well and truly moved on and his acidic reactions to her were legitimate dislike, not just self preservation.
The art installation section of the festival was quiet while the main acts were on, so sheâd found herself wandering amongst all the coloured lights and displays to take a breather. Sometimes she felt like they were tethered together and some mystical force was tugging on the stringsâ how else was it that at the exact same moment the one person she was all but avoiding was the one sheâd come face to face with? She didnât even have it in her to be sharp with him, just pressed her lips together in a sad sort of smile, âFigures Iâd find you lurking in the shadows.â @masondevereaux¡
itâs obvious that trinity is treading very carefully in the minefield that is julianâthe pauses, the hesitationâand any other day, he wouldâve have a field day with the otherâs pathetic antics of trying to maintain peace. but julians too exhausted to bark back, so instead, he musters up a chuckle, a shake of his head, and (for once) opts for amicable instead of annoyed.Â
âfigures youâd end up in the same place,â a purse of his lips as he nods his head follows. heâs not much of a believer of fate, destiny, or whatever the cosmos have planned but itâs beyond coincidental anymore. heâd been running from her and what was between them but it was evident how hard it was to keep running away. âyou having a good time?â he lifted his eyes slowly from a glittering , distant image, and brought his glance toward her.Â

âWill you look at that?â Woody nodded past his boyfriend, towards the small crowd of teenage girls that were looking in Masonâs direction. âI see the fan clubâs back.â Woody teased with a bright grin. âDo you think itâs the purple short shorts?â He asked him, pointing down at his boyfriendâs choice in swimwear. âI think it is.â ( @masondevereauxâ )
mason pulls his palms, unclasped behind his head, elbows out â relaxed and smug. â Itâs definitely the purple shorts. You think I didn't do this on purpose? I have to make the fans happy after all. " he laughed. " but you can handle the competition. you always could. â he asks with a suggestive smirk, glancing over his shoulder at woody.

penn-orville¡:
It was a vicious cycle they were trapped in, all vying to piss each other off for their own reasons. The worst part was that it worked, so they were all walking around angry and no one really won. Trinity wanted to break the cycle so badly though, and since she was never ever going to forgive her shit stain of an ex her only hope was Julianâs moody ass. She ignored him at firstâ well, she rolled her eyes when she heard him speak but that didnât count because she hadnât snapped at him like she really, truly wanted to. âI wouldnât need your help anyway,â she huffed, rattled by the way heâd brushed past her. They barely ever touched, as if they were denying themselves the luxury, but Trinity wasnât in the mood for the way their self loathing echoed off each other. She caught his hand, tugging him after her as she spotted an opening in the crowd so they could slip away from the pool area. âWell, would you look at that⌠It didnât burn,â she let him go when they were in the clear, checking the palm of her hand as if sheâd expected the touch to hurt.
â we finally agree on something, â julian grunts, suddenly pulling back as he watches her walk in front of him. his tongue jutting at the inside of his cheek. a roll of his eyes, a click of his tongue. â god, youâre annoying, â maybe itâs a defense mechanism, or maybe this is how itâs always supposed to be: biting words and frozen heart, without a single drip of kindness in sight. â are we kids or something? it didnât burnââ he mocks in a derisive tone before buzzing his lips. â do you have the mental capacity of a five-year old or what?â he leans back against the wall and waits. julian canât seem to accept that this is could be his second chance with trinity. heâs so used to not having a happy beginning or ending and itâs hard for him to act appropriately. Â
clearlytierneyâ:
âYeah I am, and you were part of helping me do that so youâre one of my people if you didnât know already. Iâve got your back always if you didnât know that already.â A fond smile spread on his face easily. âOur moms are best friends, so she knew me since before what my dad did and it took a while but slowly we got closer, then we started hooking up and hanging out and I donât know I guess I fell for her without even trying. Sheâs a tattoo artist and small but scary kind of like you now that Iâm thinking about it.â His brow sort of furrowed, âYeah, you really think so?â He nodded, âOkay well youâre in transition, I can help that run smoother, whatever that looks like.âÂ
â I was waiting to hear that, â aubree continues to jest before seriously considering his next words. she didnât realize how much she actually needed to hear some comforting, reassuring words so she grateful to oliver for doing that for her. â aw, my favorite type of relationship story line. â she couldnât help but squeal. love and romance was definitely one of her weaknessâ. â like me? â she paused to let out a small, breathy laugh. â you better start setting up a hang out soon! I need to meet her, â she nodded. â thank you for that. seriously. itâs been a weird few months for me and I donât know where to begin. But all I know is that I want to be around people with good energy and figure out who I am again.â
clearlytierney¡:
âI bet you look like much less of an idiot than I do engaging in baby talk, so Iâll leave it to the pros. You? Please when youâre around I canât take my eyes off of you, Aubree.â He embraced Aubree in a tight hug, giving her one last squeeze before he let her go and took a step back, âHeâs doing good. And that sounds generic as hell, but really Iâm better than Iâve maybe ever been. I can focus on the present and my future, things with Flick are A1, Iâve been spending more time with my siblings, itâs all good. Howâs the glamorous life and how frustrating is it to know that no matter where you are you can never find a guy who can hold a candle to me?
â thatâs awesome, oliver! Iâm glad youâre moving forward and amazing people are in your life now. â aubreeâs smile only grows softer as she can feel his new energy. heâs definitely a different person than when she first met him and sheâs happy for his growth.â youâll have to tell me all about Flick because a girl with a nickname like that is definitely an interesting one, â she nodded, â oh, so frustrating! I really canât find anyone thatâs on your level. do you have any friends? â she mentions with a slight smirk rising onto her face. â Iâm doing better. Iâm taking an indefinite hiatus from work. it sucks but I know itâs the best thing for me right now. â
clearlytierney¡:
âActually no there isnât because see, heâs not a baby, heâs a dog and can you imagine baby talk coming out of my mouth? Because the notion is bone chilling to me personally.â He smiled softly at Aubree, and took the offered treats and ball, âAlright, your advice always worked for me before, letâs give it a shot.â He kneeled down and gave the dog one of the treats which he happily ate, then tossed another and the dog went, out and stayed, sniffing around Aubreeâs dog, âShit, is there anything you canât do?â He held his arms out, the leash still in one hand, âGet in here. I havenât see you in like a month.âÂ
a surprised gasp leaves her lips. â not a baby ? â she immediately thinks, as her eyes meet his. she couldnât imagine thinking of her dog as just a pet. â youâll be surprised how far baby talk will get you with dogs. just you wait. â she playfully nudges his arm just before she takes a quick look at his dog now circling around herâs, and reminds mochi to play nice. â apparently hold your attention, â she teased as she leaned forward to give him a hug. â I know, right! but itâs fine because now you probably have a lot to tell me. so ... howâs my favorite student doing? â
penn-orville¡:
Whatever misguided hope sheâd had after heâd shown up to her house was crushed under Julianâs heel in that moment. She knew him, she knew he was protecting himself, but there was only so far anyone could be pushed, how shitty they could be made to feel, before they gave up. Trinity wasnât at her limit yet, she was an easy match for Julian in stubbornness, but eventually one of them would have to give. She didnât want to prove him right though, didnât want to be the one to walk away for a second time, so she forced herself to ignore his taunts. If he wanted to provoke her, it wouldnât be in such childish ways. His cup slamming down made her jump, but she didnât move to get up right away, as much as she wanted to. That wasnât the way they worked, she wasnât the girl sheâd been before sheâd left, she wasnât going to chase a man around like a needy puppy. Still, she gave it a second before she too rose to her feet, âWhy donât you just yell out to him? Bring a little more attention to yourself and how pathetic you look all alone over here,â she scoffed, and pushed past him to leave. âIâm getting a refill and going for a walk on the golf course.â She didnât say outright that she wanted him to go with her, but the implication was there. Even if all they did was bicker, it was more alive than she felt any other time.
SHE makes a point and it pisses him off, however. trinityâs remark does weigh heavier than anticipated: itâs weird, isnât it, to think how different their lives are now. just a couple months ago, julian was her exâs right hand man and despite not agreeing with everything his ex best friend did, julian was apart of something; not too long after, theyâre faced at a crossroads, and they all diverges from the original pathâand as much as julian hates to admit it, heâs the outsider now. itâs probably the better option. but itâs the fact that his ex friend continues to rub it in his face, more so now that trinity is back in town and it gets under his skin. â maybe Iâd rather be alone than to be seen with you. â the first thing he says as he approaches her, though he doesnât make a distinction on whether heâs going with her or not. but when he draws close enough, he brushes past her as a way of letting her know heâs with her. his words fail him once again and at this point heâs not even fighting it anymore.  â try not to trip when youâre staring at me so hard, â his eyes wander back over to trinity.  â I wonât help you get up. â  a small knowing smile tugs at the corner of his mouth as he re-directs his focus to through the crowd, heâs just trying to get away from all the noise.Â
clearlytierney¡:
Oliver had always wanted a dog growing up, but the most his dad ever let him have as far as pets went was some beta fish. Hadley had dogs whom he adored, but obviously they were never his so when things ended with her they ended with them too. He wasnât sure if he wanted the responsibility of a dog right now, but dog sitting his teammateâs dog for the next 3 weeks would help him gauge. âCome on, dude. Look at all of those dogs out here, you could be making new friends right now, but youâre just here with me, some human.â He told the puppy who was content with just sitting, âAlright, itâs a great big world out there for you, but if you just want to chill with me, you can chill.â He felt eyes on him and looked up to see someone watching himâŚtrying to give a pep talk to a dog, âUh heyâŚheâs a little shy I guess.âÂ
â I bet there's some super cute baby talking when you're alone with him. â in between chuckles, she nods and sets her own baby down to explore. â you canât just talk to him like some human, here you need some of these. â she hands him some freeze dried treats and an extra ball.Â
penn-orville¡:
Nothing about Julian gave Trinity the impression that he wanted her around. Sheâd seen it though, that night heâd come to her house to warn her that people were talking about her. He was stone-faced, but there was something beneath it and she refused to let it go. The one in a million chance that she was right seemed too important to ignore. âFirst of all, fuck you. Just to get that out of the way,â she flipped her middle finger at him as he pushed the drink away. Fine by her, sheâd probably drink it herself just to get drunk enough to deal with his moody ass. âI have friends,â she huffed, setting her own drink down and following his line of sight, wondering how he got to be happy with a shiny new girl while she was left trying to put herself and Julian back together. She did have friends, the James boys and Aiden, but none who really saw her. Not like Julian did. âHow many times do I have to say it?â The âitâ she was referring to being her reveal a few months earlier that sheâd missed him while sheâd been away, so much that she regretted leaving in the first place, and that she wasnât planning on making the same mistake a second time. Nowadays, she tended to miss him whenever she had a spare moment to herself. She didnât want to, itâd be so much easier if she could leave him behind for good, but it was what it was. Fate, perhaps, or bad luck.
IN response, julian smirks, placing a hand on trinityâs shoulder with an over dramatic expression of skewed empathy. â so many friends, huh? â he doesnât even wait to watch her reaction, no, when julianâs already erupting into his own bout of laughter at his joke. she canât think theyâre friends all of a sudden because he doesnât even consider them friends. even if he did go to her house to see tell her about her ex, which by the way, he still regrets that he allowed himself to let his guard down a little. he shakes his head, pulls his hand back to cross his arms in front of his torso, and just returns to his stone-faced. â you can tattoo it across your fucking forehead if you want, it doesnât mean we have to do anything about it. â an exaggerated scoff as he fiddles with his fingers, giving him something to do. of course he remembers what she told him, he was obviously not the type to forget things easily. it was the fact that he felt the same way about her scared him and this thing between them wasnât going away. no matter how much he tried pushing her away, it seemed to be doing the opposite. it was so much easier to pretend his feelings for her were nonexistent when she was gone but that went down the drain a few months back. â Iâm over this, â he slams his cup down and stands abruptly, his chair screeching backwards. julain was tired of seeing his ex best friend in his field of vision, he didn't want to spend his evening dealing with that.Â
penn-orville¡:
âLook who escaped the wax museum,â Trinity dropped her towel on the sun lounge next to Julian and sat, still as uncertain as ever about where they stood, but sheâd spent long enough ignoring him that day and her self control around him had never been all that impressive to begin with. If seeing her ex flaunting his new girlfriend at the other end of the pool had struck a nerve and made her want to seek out the one person who could distract her, she wasnât planning on admitting it. âI got this for you. No poison, promise,â she held out a drink for him, a peace offering of sorts.
@masondevereaux¡
HE leans back in the chair before glancing over at her, arms crossed over his chest as he sits there wondering if that was that her way of complimenting him or what. â so youâre really making this a thing? â julian scoffs to himself seeing her come to him again, his eyes unconsciously rolling before he pushes the drink of out his view. â still havenât managed to find yourself into another group of friends I see. â  he mutters, though his eyes remain focused on whatâs happening in front of him. heâs sure she seeâs what he sees, but he decides not to comment. it feels a bit like deja vu and the energy isnât something he wants to give into anymore.Â
thestefmckibbon¡:
âPlease, you have a kid around, that guy can do whatever he wants and youâll still want a few seconds. Maybe shave beforehand.â He told Mason, grabbing his friendâs chin and moving it side to side a few times before letting go. He nodded, âWhat am I missing that everyone wants to be in the club business now. You know Brooks pitched an idea to me the other day, he wants to open a club.âÂ
mason opened his mouth to speak but stopped short before grinning. âExcuse you. I think I look hot shaved or not.â He crossed his arms over his chest. âShit. I can admit I know nothing about the club business. But I just got to thinking about what to pass down to Romanâ that isnât just looks. And what screams cool dad and great business opportunity than a club?â mason snickered, but he was serious about what to give to his son these days. roman was getting older and it was time to start preparing for his future. âoh? well, heâs onto something good. whereâs your head at?â
