“Kat saying Stefan is the reason she came back to MF” requested by anon
leahhamilt-n :
Leah felt her skin heat up when she felt his finder tips touch hers, that fear she always had when they got remotely close came back up. But her body out of some form of instinct laced her fingers through his. Run Run Run her thoughts raced but her body stayed. “I- I’m a mess,” she muttered.
“You aren’t the only one.” Mason knew that the intent driving his breakup with Leah was malicious. He hated that he was responsible for what they had fragmented them into. In theory everything once made sense but that wasn’t so in practice or the aftermath. Witnessing Leah like this he could feel the strings being pulled on his heart.
leahhamilt-n :
Leah felt her heart stop for a minute at that revelation, it could’ve been. But it wasn’t. Her eyes fell on to the little space there was between them on the couch, her brain was spinning. She did try and she wasn’t good enough, it didn’t matter what she did. Her and Mason never had a chance. “When we first started- it wasn’t about breaking you,” she hesitated. Leah didn’t know what else to say.
“The end - the result wasn’t your fault without a doubt it was mine.” While saying this Mason moved closer to her, gently touching his fingertips to hers. Mason had been unsure about Leah’s early intentions most of their relationship. Now it just did not seem to matter as much as it once did. “I regretted it. Yet I was prideful and felt that I had to follow through. By the time I got over that I realized it was too late to go back.”
leahhamilt-n :
“Mason,” she mimicked. He didn’t move which she took as a good response, if he really didn’t want her closer he would’ve moved. She did however noticed he tensed up- was he scared? Of her? Was he scared she was going to do something. She wasn’t- at she didn’t think she would. She did tell Kendrick she wanted to try for real but this was Mason.
Leah let out a soft chuckle, of course he tee-balled the question over to her. She took her eyes off the ceiling and made sure he saw her eyes. “I shouldn’t have given up, I just wanted you to be happy,” she responded. “I just never understood why that couldn’t be with me.”
“I - it could have been with you Leah. I don’t know what was going on with me. The relationship had always been scary. Because as amazing as it could be it hurt so much at times.” Mason knew that Leah was letting her guard down and he wanted to meet her on the same level. It was difficult to answer without turning away but he actively put his focus back on her. “You tried. I know you did more than you ever had before with me but I was so angry. It didn’t matter what you said that wasn’t going to change. Selfishly I wanted you to hurt like I did which is wrong of me.”
leahhamilt-n :
Taking the bowl back from him and taking another hit before passing it back. She relaxed back in position of looking up at the ceiling and smiled at the comment. “I trust her, plus I could always track down the girl if she tramples on Kayla’s heart without really knowing her,” Leah explained. She moved slightly closer to him on the couch, almost teasing him. “Never know until happens,” she teased.
“That is true,” she agreed. Leah did have a habit of becoming bored of people, the only people she tend to not let go off was Mason and Kayla. Even then she did leave Mason over and over but that wasn’t boredom- it was fear. She tilted her head slightly to see his reaction to her question. “And what have you thought?”
“Leah.” Mason warned, halfheartedly. He didn’t adjust his position but his body did become noticeably tenser. It was bad idea to put himself in a situation that could fuck everything he had been building up. The risk was in the back of his mind from the moment he spoke to Leah. There was a mix of doubt and guilt bubbling it’s way up but not regret.
He had hoped that she would reveal her intentions before he’d have to answer. Mason should have known better. Leah was too cunning to make it so easy. “You tell me what you’ve thought first.”
leahhamilt-n :
“This is true,” Leah agreed. It’s what made Kayla easily susceptible to pain, especially when it came to relationships. Leah took the bowl from Mason and took the first hit, before handing it to him. She could feel herself calming down a bit, letting herself relax in his presence. “I haven’t met her,” Leah admitted. She wasn’t really interested in meeting the girl either- unless Kayla finally pinned her down and made her. “You can sit closer to me, I’m not gonna jump you,” Leah teased.
“Tired people are boring,” she proclaimed with a grin. “Yeah, Kayla and I were in Europe last month before I started filming.” She leaned back into the couch staring up at his ceiling, she couldn’t help but picture their last conversation where they had their pseudo-break up. “Do you ever think what would’ve happened if I didn’t walk away?”
Mason closed his eyes as he felt the smoke filling in his throat. It would take a few times for the high to set in but the anticipation of it was enough. “Don’t you want to keep tabs on who your best friend is seeing?” It was mostly a joke but knowing the nature of their friendship that wouldn’t actually surprise Mason. “Obviously I’d win that fight if you were. I, uh, don’t know if that is such a great idea though.” With a past as physical as their’s Mason knew to hold off.
“Most people are boring to you.” Mason did not fall into that category but he knew Leah was generally unimpressed with everyone. There were even occasions that she had gotten bored with him. Mason assumed that is why she used to disappear. He watched her and was attempting to put together where she was going with the question. “I’ve thought about it. It’s only natural right? To imagine the hundred different ways a situation could have gone.”
leahhamilt-n :
It was like old times, Leah watched Mason conduct the ritual of setting up the bowl. It was like nothing had change, yet in reality everything had changed and she knew it was her fault. She did her best to remain calm, Leah had been sober for only 2 months and it was different without the fog of drugs. Weed definitely helped keep her partly sane though. At the mention of Kayla’s name, she couldn’t help but smile. Her best friend- although a safe topic- always helped keep her grounded. She loved the blonde to pieces and didn’t know where she would be without her. “She’s great- dating some Latina,” Leah smirked. She had not met Kylie yet, despite the fact that Kayla had been with her for awhile. “She seems happy with her.”
Him not having to scurry off to work was dangerous, it meant that she had to leave of her own accord and she wasn’t quite sure if it would be easy to leave him. “Being your own boss does have it perks,” she remarked with a grin. “Their aim is to have it down in a few hours but lord knows, you know I work better at night anyway. Sleep is for the weak.”
“I don’t know why but I have always seen Kayla as the type of person to be happy with whoever she is with as long as it means not having to be alone.” He handed Leah the freshly packed bowl. It was only proper etiquette to allow the guest the first hit. After a few moments of shuffling his weight from side to side he sat next to her. The entire time Mason remained extremely mindful of maintaining a distance from her. “Then again I would never pretend to know her as well as you do. Do you like this Latina?”
“Yeah. I feel very lucky to be able to survive off of doing something I love.” Mason wasn’t exactly a boss but the job did allow a freedom that he appreciated. A typical nine to five with hierarchy and uniforms was never for him. Any attempts Mason ever made at having a “regular” job often resulted in him being fired or quitting in a fit of rage. There was a time when he thought drug dealing would become his career. “Or for the tired.” Mason chuckled. “Traveled anywhere cool recently?”
leahhamilt-n :
Leah could feel him studying her, trying to figure out if this was real. She wasn’t sure herself, sober!Leah. It felt like a fictional character, a superhero to save her from herself and yet she was still her. At least the her that went to work on time, took time to breath and tried not to drink 3 bottles of vodka just to get to sleep. “Some smoke I can do,” she said with a nod and a smile. Which was true, weed was never her problem.
She relaxed on the couch trying to figure out what comes next, do they just smoke a blunt- drink some juice and ignore their past? Was that even possible? She wasn’t sure, she didn’t know how to be apart of his life. Leah loved him, but it wasn’t fair because she would never say those words to him out loud. Especially not now considering their situation. “You working tonight?”
Mason opened a drawer in the kitchen and pulled out the box he kept his stash in. Back in the days it was strewn all over the house but at Addison’s insistence he managed to cut back dramatically. Still they both had agreed it was fine in moderation. He began the ritual process of packing a bowl, occasionally glancing at Leah. Mostly trying to read her mood. It was shocking to him how relaxed she was despite being sober. It did not seem that long ago when Mason wasn’t sure that was a lifestyle Leah would ever want for herself. “How’s Kayla?” It was an easy topic to resort to. To avoid an awkward pause, a true moment of confrontation with the strangeness of whatever this was.
“No. I managed to wrap all of the major repairs this morning so I’m saving the easy stuff for tomorrow. The best part is within reason I make my own hours there. How long will your shoot be tonight? You sure you don’t need to go home and get some rest.”
leahhamilt-n :
Leah gave a light shrug showing the Hollywood lifestyle didn’t mean much to her, she was an actress- she had to be pretty good at pretending she was okay when she wasn’t. Kayla is the only one who saw the real her and it still in a way terrified her. “All in the days work, besides who can deny a face like this?” Leah said with a grin. “Yeah, I’m sure you can handle it though. You’ve always been way more responsible then me.”
“Orange juice works, have a late night shoot- so I can’t drink,” she said taking a seat on his couch waiting for him to retrieve her beverage. Leah didn’t want to admit she hadn’t really been drinking anymore. She was trying to be normal- she was doing her best to be a person, not a cloud. She felt her phone vibrate and she noticed a text from Kendrick, she tucked it back away feeling a bit bad about that she ignored him.
Mason wouldn’t be able to do it. He valued privacy and transparency, things nobody got in the spotlight. Even dating Leah was a hassle when she was fresh off a project. Back then she was barely starting to take it seriously. Well as seriously as Leah took anything. “I wouldn’t trust the person who could. Yeah, I think so too I just have to remain focused. It’s easier when you’re working towards something. I was forced to be more responsible early on, plus I certainly fucked up a lot of times. More often that not I’d say.”
“Interesting.” Mason considered it rare still to hear Leah turn down a good time. He began to wonder how much had changed in the time pass. Did he even know her anymore? Instinct reminded Mason that he never fully knew Leah or at the least didn’t always understand. “Orange juice it is. Can you smoke before a late night shoot?”
leahhamilt-n :
At the mention of work she forced a smile, she liked the work part of it. It’s the fans that kind of drove her crazy, ‘Hollywood Starlit Leah Hamilton’ was an annoying image forced on her because of past shit. “Yeah, you know me. Face is hard to keep of the screens,” Leah said trying to force her smile to remain neutral when she noticed her stepped closer. “Living large as always, I’m proud of you.”
Leah looked around taking in the space, it suited him. Mason was progressing without her, she didn’t make him better. Addison did and the thought made her sick. “You have anything to drink yet?” Leah asked.
Here and there Mason heard the rumors and headlines about Leah. Mostly he ignored them. Any sort of celebrity attracts the vultures and users in L.A. “Can’t blame them with a face like yours. I imagine the publicity is annoying though, the good and bad. Thanks. I do admit that it’s a lot of responsibility but... worth it.”
“Water, orange juice, and a couple of beers in the fridge. What can I grab you?”

“You know me, same old- same old,” she said with a light shrug. Leah tucked her hands in her pockets so she can ignore the shaking. “How are you?”
“I saw you on some t.v show a couple weeks ago. Getting a lot of work these days?” For the first time since her arrival Mason looked into her eyes. It stunned him for a few seconds. Everything with Leah felt innate and Mason couldn’t help stepping closer. “I’m okay. Been working for a friend of mine in his auto shop. That’s how I could afford this - palace.” He gestured to the apartment and chuckled.
