why wear a suit when you can wear that))
It Don't Mean A Thing, Darlin' (If It Ain't Got That Swing) || Tabitha and Brodie
Tabitha fiddled somewhat with the cloth of his sleeve, nervous despite himself. It wasn’t as if he were insecure in his abilities— oh, he’d had reason enough to teach himself how to dance, snoopin’ little shit that he’d been— but rather, being surrounded by so many people was throwing him off kilter. Tabitha was solitary by nature and even more so by habit; so many years spent fending for himself were well accounted for in his mannerisms, and however much he attempted to hide it in his suave and arrogant demeanor, it always managed to shine through, just the slightest bit. His armor was not nearly as thick as he convinced himself it was.
Distracted from his searching by the silent berating of himself, it took Tabitha until the supposed woman was nearly upon him before he noticed her. When he had, however, his attention was completely monopolized, and the curve of a smirk began creeping up his lips. She was pretty, certainly, as far as he could see, but there was also a twinge of familiarity in his chest that made a trickle of attraction spider through his heart.
He tilted his head, stepping to the side and regarding the woman critically, interest glinting in his eyes. He would surely play the part of his mask, then— the wolf had found Little Red Riding Hood. Sort of. After a moment, he held out a hand, bowing somewhat. “You’ve got a sharp eye, darlin’— I’m the right stranger to approach, I think. I’d love to teach you.”
Step one complete.
Brodie was elated at the response he got, which made him laugh. He reached out for Tabitha's hand, lightly grasping it as he slightly curtsied back. Brodie smirked at the other, he never knew toying with him was so easy otherwise he'd have done something like this sooner. Hopefully by the time this is all over, Tabitha wouldn't have known it was actually Brodie and would have fallen in love with this so called Colette with the Skitty that doesn't even actually exist. Maybe Tabitha would go as far as seeking her out, which would eventually prove to be difficult keeping up the disguise, but not too difficult. They don't call him the Man of a Thousand Faces for nothing.
"Hm, I'm all yours! My name is Colette by the way. What's yours?" He spoke as he guided Tabitha to the dance floor. He had to admit, his entire story wasn't all false. He really had no idea how to dance, though he'd seem like the kind to know. See, this situation would not only entertain him, but teach him something new, it's a double positive for him! But for Tabitha...
"Sorry in advance if I end up stepping on your feet a lot." Brodie already knew he would do so, there was no arguing that, but whether he'd do it on purpose or not... That's a completely different story to which the ending is 'both'. "But really, I'm excited to learn something new today!"
It Don't Mean A Thing, Darlin' (If It Ain't Got That Swing) || Tabitha and Brodie
Tabitha stood in the center of his single cabin, the florescent overhead lights of the bathroom shining down on him as he adjusted his clothing in the mirror. He wasn’t accustomed to wearing such fancy attire— his occupation mandated an incredibly lax uniform, and before that… well, he didn’t have the means or the opportunity to dress nicely. A kid on the run, playing the underground, wasn’t exactly on the VIP list for fancy restaurants.
Despite this, he didn’t think he looked half bad. Perhaps it was the familiarity of the red and black color scheme, or maybe the fact that he had taken the opportunity to get it properly fitted, but he thought himself suitable for the masquerade. Even the mask had been chosen with forethought— he was no cat, god dammit, and it surely was not a feline grin that graced his lips at the thought of dancing with the choice individuals he’d seen running about all weekend. Maybe he’d even get a dance with that model he’d spent so long chatting with.
Tugging once more on his suit jacket, Tabitha reached up to tied the strings of his mask on tightly, his smile appropriately wolfish as he moved out of the room. Walking down the hallways, he was greeted by the covered faces of luxuriously dressed passengers, some looking to suit the theme and others simply wearing the hottest thing they could get away with, given the anonymity. The view was certainly nice, in any case, and Tabitha thought that this cruise was the best present he’d been presented with in years.
Tabitha entered the ball room, taking advantage of the dim lights and throngs of people to ghost the edges, scanning the crowd.
Brodie --or rather, Colette as he called this disguise-- sat, boredly, near a dark corner, crossing his legs as he pat down the dress he wore to this gathering. He knew he could've always gone as himself in a mask, but why do that when he could always mess with a couple of guys and go as a Lady? To make things look even more legit, he had his ditto transform into a skitty and had worn a mareep-esque mask.
He tapped on his knee, waiting for some interesting looking person to appear within his peripheral vision and was about to get up and pick some random man until a certain Magma Admin showed up looking rather dapper. It wasn't hard for Brodie to figure out that it was Tabitha, knowing him and his mannerisms so well. Him just standing, like he was now, was more than enough.
The thief stood up, brushing off his dress and made his way over to his commander with his 'skitty' following closely behind. "Excuse me, do you know how to dance well? Would you mind teaching me?" He spoke in his best feminine tone, "I mean, I know it's strange for a stranger to come and ask of this but I would really appreciate it if you could help!" He smiled at Tabitha.
[ “I think.” Tabitha quirked a brow, incredulous. ]
I’m an Admin, what d’ya think I do all day? Half the time I’m runnin’ ‘round so much is because I only stop by for a few days between each mission.
But don't you get tired of it almost all the time? I would, you should stick it to the man ask for a raise or something. [Brodie laughed] No I'm only kidding. But really, take a break for a long time!
[ Tabitha startled, feeling somewhat cornered. What a fuckin’ jerk. ]
Shut up. Even if you refuse to do anythin’ productive, I’m actually busy.
Eh, sorry sorry. For real this time I think. But c'mon why're you so busy all the time, chill out.
Oh, I’m sure you could. There’s a time and a place, though, an’ we’ve got stuff to do.
Hey what's that supposed to mean? Are you rejecting me or something c'mon I thought we had something special. [He beings to whine in a mocking tone]
[ His eyebrows began to twitch, furrowing into an expression of conflicted disgust. ]
Brodie.
Hahaha! Alright alright, sorry bout that commander I'll stop.
Y'know.. Unless you want me to continue, I can go on forever.
No thank you. Go… steal a paintin’ or somethin’, good God.
Not unless that painting's of you.

Kagari couldn’t help but laugh at his ‘cant trust anyone attitude’, she didn’t mean to laugh but she had a weird way of coping with her past, and that included laughing at bad times. “Oh sorry sorry, who are you though? I don’t think I’ve seen you around here before.” The magma admin held out her hand to him as politely as she could since she just laughed at him.
"Eh? What's that? You haven't seen me around? Wow how hard is it to miss some guy with purple hair and an orange streak! HA, but joking aside, I'm Brodie." He looked at the hand that Kagari held out and after a moment, he reached out to shake her hand.
