An excerpt from the journal of Silverstar Liadon during her station at Nesmé as it fell under siege by the Kingdom of Many Arrows in 1484 DR.

I received a missive this morning from High Moonmistress Lurialar with new orders. I am to leave Nesmé's defense in Aelene's hands and return to Silverymoon. Hartusk's armies besiege us on many fronts and Our Lady's Silvertears are needed. I will not defy My Lady nor the High Priestess but I cannot stomach the thought of leaving Aelene behind. If these walls are to fall, song dragon or no, she alone is not enough to withstand the Orc hoards.... I wonder if it is this frantic worry that has me so close to saying the things I have only allowed myself to whisper to My Lady under Her moon's gentle light. Love, for all we worship and nurture it, sits in my gut like a sickness, heavy as a stone. In this moment, as I am forced to place an army between myself and Aelene, what I feel for her is more a curse than a blessing. I cannot be selfish. I cannot put this on her shoulders as I leave her behind to lead a city under siege.... When this is over, when Hartusk's armies are crushed, I will be honest. I will tell her that I have never met anyone so headstrong and infuriating or so moonblessed and lovely. I will tell her that I am hers, if she will have me.
