BIRDS: FEATHERED & UNFEATHERED II –THE SNOWDON AVIARY
Improve field drawing skills through an understanding of bird structure
ZSL welcomes back Katrina Van Grouw author of The Unfeathered Bird to take a one day course on drawing birds at ZSL London Zoo.
About this course
Join Unfeathered Bird author Katrina van Grouw for a day drawing living birds in London Zoo’s Snowdon Aviary – and learn how a bit of anatomical knowledge can change the way you see and draw.
Skeletons are not morbid things to do with death and decay. They give animals their shape; influence how they move and how they behave. This course will combine ‘field’ drawing skills with developing an understanding of birds’ underlying structure. The aim of the course is to help improve your interpretation of what you see as you watch and draw from life.
Following up on the successful weekend course at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo last year, this one-day course will concentrate on the range of elegant and interesting bird species in the enormous walk-through Snowdon Aviary. It will allow you to get up close and personal with the birds - and offer some unusual viewpoints!
